Chapter 21: Revenge

Euthanasia: Spare Me Your Mercy volume 2

Gunn walked lifelessly inside his own house. He placed the car key on the table while thinking that he should drink a glass of cold water to calm down after facing the difficult situation at Wasan's house. However, when he thought of Wasan's face that he had just seen, Gunn immediately had a choking feeling in his chest. The young man clutched his shirt where his chest was and used his other hand to support himself on the table. The pain turned into a scream. The doctor's body was shaking violently and tears were streaming from both eyes.

"Wasan, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Gunn dropped to his knees on the floor and covered his face with his hands. "I want to tell you this, but no one allowed me to talk to you. I'm sorry."

After being escorted to the police station for interrogation for almost two days, followed by three days in jail before the court approved bail thanks to the expertise of lawyer Vej, Gunn was given the opportunity to be with himself and reflect on everything that had happened. He was determined to pay for the crimes he had committed. Prison and handcuffs were the things that suited him best. People like him shouldn't enjoy freedom. The highest punishment for him would be capital punishment or at least life in prison.

Lieutenant Kong wasn't wrong, he deserved it.

Gunn stood up slowly. As the evidence against him remained vague and Gunn's lawyer was too talented, he would not receive the desired compensation. If Wasan didn't do it, Gunn would have to reveal the evidence about euthanasia himself. The doctor took the car key and walked to the front of the house.

And then a tall man came in and blocked the door.

"Doctor, where are you going?" Lawyer Vej looked at Gunn's face, which was full of tears. "We have an appointment to discuss the case."

"I won't fight anymore, Mr. Vej." Gunn shook his head. "I will tell the police everything I did."

Woravej raised his hand to touch Gunn's shoulder and said, "I'm not sure what you've encountered, but you have to calm down. Let's talk inside first."

Gunn looked down and stood still as if recovering. When he was calm enough, he looked up and walked back inside the house. Vej followed him and left his briefcase on the couch. He waited for Gunn to sit down first before sitting down himself.

"I just went to see Wasan. I don't know if he had already gone to the warehouse, but seeing his condition, I think he already went."

Woravej was slightly stunned before letting out a sigh: "Tell me again, of all the things you have committed, which of them you would like to plead guilty to." Gunn remained silent for a long time before answering: "Murder Dr. Somsak and try to kill Som."

"You told me before that you do not consider euthanasia of patients to be wrong."

"It's something that the law considered wrong, but to me, I don't think what I did was wrong because I was helping patients."

"That's what you think, doctor. And at the same time, you know that other people may not share the same opinion, especially when you said you left the decision up to your boyfriend to decide whether or not to give you a chance." "Therefore, the decision whether euthanasia is wrong or not depends on other people, not on you," Vej said firmly. "As an outsider, the fact that you leave the decision to Wasan means that if he thinks it was wrong of you to take his mother's life like that, he will be the one to take you to the law and send you to prison. I think that this is fair. However, since you are my client, I have a duty to help you confirm that what you did was something you believe to be right and not something wrong. If you want to pay for the loss of your boyfriend by pleading guilty and turning yourself in to "Whatever evidence he can present to prosecute you, I will also gladly comply. But as I said, if there is not enough evidence, I will fight and get you off the charges."

Gunn leaned against the back of the sofa and looked absently out of the window, "What do I have to do now?"

"Prepare for the day of witness interrogation," Vej opened his briefcase, took out some documents and placed them on the table. "Today we will not talk about Dr. Somsak or Mr. Som or euthanasia. We will focus on the case where you have Mr. Tao shot dead first. I will tell you now that you will definitely not go to jail for the case of Tao.

Sawitree was the prosecutor who took over from Prosecutor Songsak, who was killed because he was involved in the teacher Jenjira case a year ago. She had had experiences with euthanasia cases before, but what was happening now was causing more stress in her professional life because the case gained national attention and the defendant's lawyer was also very famous for being extremely talented.

"Accused", Woravej in his lawyer's suit walked to the witness box for questioning after Viriya, the prosecution's witness, told the prosecutor what she saw on the night of the incident. "Before the incident, the witness and the accused knew each other, am I correct?"

"Yes," the bald, emancipated woman looked at Gunn, who was sitting next to the accused. "I am a patient with end-stage cancer. The doctor is the palliative care doctor who treated me."

"During the time of the incident, did you see the defendant enter with a weapon?"

Viriya looked unsure, "It was dark..."

"Let me ask the witness one more time, you saw the defendant come in with a gun, right?"

"N...no."

"So you didn't see it," Woravej looked at prosecutor Sawitree. "Did the witness see the defendant raise the gun and shoot the deceased?"

"I didn't dare look at anything at that moment. I was afraid."

"So this means you didn't see it, right?" Woravej walked to the nearby blackboard, picked up a pen, and drew three circles. "Listening to the witness a moment ago, the witness was sitting on the floor while the deceased was standing next to her on the left, looking in the direction of the entrance of the house, which was north. Then, the accused entered from the front of the house and negotiated with the deceased to let the hostage go right here. Is my drawing correct?"

"Yeah that's right."

Woravej's smile widened: "And after the shot, in which direction did the deceased fall?"

"I... I was scared, so I covered my eyes with my hands."

"Think about it, did the deceased fall in front?"

Viriya closed her eyes tightly as if she was trying to remember, “Yes…yes.”

"After the deceased fell, did the witness see the defendant return and adjust the position of the corpse?"

"N...no."

"Did the accused see anyone else besides the accused and the deceased?"

"After I found out that someone had died, I closed my eyes and covered my face the whole time. I couldn't see anything. I was really scared." Viriya raised her hand and wiped her tears.

"I have no more questions," Woravej turned to speak to the judge and sat back down next to Kantapat.

Methavee, the judge, turned to Sawitree and said, "Prosecutor, you can question her again."

Sawitree stood up, his confidence diminishing considerably, "Yes, ma'am."

The prosecutor walked to the front of the witness stand. He would now re-examine or question the prosecution witness again after the witness was cross-examined by the defendant's attorney in order to undermine the weight of the testimony previously given. Cross-examination can be an opportunity to confirm what the witness said during cross-examination or restore the witness's credibility that may have been compromised previously. "The witness said she put her hands up to cover her face, which means there's a chance she also didn't see that the defendant had a gun, correct?"

Woravej quickly raised his hand to object: "Your honor, the prosecutor is guiding her."

Gunn looked at his lawyer and leaned back comfortably in his chair, in contrast to Deputy Superintendent Bird, who appeared as an investigative witness for the prosecution. He sat there, frowning and with a tense expression on his face.

After examining all the witnesses from both sides, it was the duty of the court to consider all the evidence to rule on the case and issue an injunction. When it came time for sentencing, the Trial Court dismissed the lawsuit against Gunn because witnesses and evidence, including forensic results, determined that the shooter was definitely a third person. The bullet was fired from behind, which aligned with the blood splatters on the walls of the house. Gunn's bloody shirt occurred because Gunn was at the incident due to Tao's threatening letter, which made him decide to protect his patient. As to whether this was a contract to kill or not, the police could not find any evidence connecting it. Therefore, Gunn was free.

"I'm very frustrated!" Lieutenant Kong growled loudly from the hospital garden. Tum shuddered and looked left and right.

"Don't make too much noise, I'm embarrassed!" The small-framed nurse scolded his boyfriend and pulled Kong's arm to sit properly on the bench. "You're frustrated by Dr. Gunn, right?"

"Of course, the tests involved Dr. Gunn, but nothing can be linked to him." Kong clenched his fists tightly. "Both things, hiring people to kill us and setting fire to Tao's house, Ornanong was found to be solely responsible. Regarding the discovery of the message that the patient sent to Gunn telling him that he was ready to die on the night he died, we checked the doctor's phone and did not find that he responded. Coincidentally, the CCTV in front of the house also did not work that night. If we say that Dr. Gunn's fingerprints were found all over the house, Dr. "Gunn visited the patient's house 3 or 4 times before."

"If we believe that what Tao wrote in the book is true, we can use it to hide how we found the evidence," Tum offered his opinion. "Keep filling in the blank and you'll find it."

"Yes, I'll start there. Today I will try to contact Tao's ex-wife and ask her what happened after Tao was fired," the policeman raised his hands to massage his temples. "I want to find the glue that will hold everything together, but I don't know what it is."

Tum stood still for a while before saying, "I think the glue you're talking about is Inspector Wasan."

The cop looked at his boyfriend, "Of course, Wasan knows something we don't, but he keeps it to himself because he wants to protect Gunn. And the things he knows come back to hurt him like crazy."

"You have to take good care of Inspector Wasan. When he's ready, he might want to talk about it," Tum looked at his watch and stood up. "I have to go back to the living room now. See you in the evening."

"Yes, honey. I'll pick you up at night." Kong stood up and kissed Tum once on the cheek without being embarrassed. Tum's face heated up and he hit the young lieutenant's back automatically.

Tum returned to the male internal medicine ward to alternate lunchtime with another nurse. The nurse opened the file that the doctors requested to obtain blood samples and new medications. While reading the treatment orders, he heard a call from a nursing assistant who was turning a patient: "Bed 14 has already opened his eyes."

"Bed 14?" Tum tried to look in the direction of the bed in the middle row, which is the area for more critical patients than other areas. Most of them had fans attached. "Wait a minute... bed 14? Bed 14, that's Som... Som..." Tum suddenly widened his eyes, "Mr. Som!"

Anan heard a woman's voice humming a song while suturing the stomach of a female corpse who died in a traffic accident. This was a voice that the talented forensic staff had never heard of before. Even though he was working in a place where many people claimed to have seen ghosts before, Anan never once encountered anything scary.

Or maybe the time has come. Anan placed the suturing equipment and raised his head to look around the autopsy room. The chanting echoed from the path outside and grew louder and louder until the door opened, causing the middle-aged man to shudder. The image he saw was no ghost. The owner of the voice was Dr. Supapohn, who was in such a good mood that she sang.

"If you didn't open the door so I could see it was you, I was about to run and make some merit for the dead," Anan shouted.

"Is my voice that scary?" Rin asked with a big smile.

"Then you have to tell me what kind of drug you took. I never thought you would be like this before." Anan looked at Rin's face, which was especially more beautiful today.

"Dr. Gunn cleared the charge that he killed Tao, but right now he faces the charge of attempting to murder Som." Rin crossed her arms and raised her head. "When Som was taken off the ventilator, he was wide awake and could talk normally. The police then tried to ask him about the night he was attacked. Mr. Som said that the person who came to see him was the Angel of Death in White. The DNA tissue under Som's fingernails that I collected because I was careful, matches Gunn's DNA. The traces of the wounds from the attack and the medicine in the syringe that fell into Som's house was definitely caused by him ".

Anan looked conflicted: "Why did Dr. Gunn want to kill Som?"

"Som saw Gunn kill someone, but since Som was a psychiatric patient, his credibility was reduced. What Gunn was trying to do was kill everyone who knew he euthanized patients," the doctor said confidently. . "This is not all he did. Anan, wait and see. He will pay for everything."

"Karma has probably already started to kick in. Dr. Gunn has been in and out of the Court like it's a playground. He's probably very stressed right now. In the end, he can't get away with being taken away." his medical license and goes to prison." Anan shook his head.

"He definitely deserved it." Rin's mobile phone vibrated after saying that. He picked up the phone to see and found that Inspector Em had sent a message.

[I found something on the CCTV.]

[When will you be free today? We can meet?]

The smile that was already wide grew wider. Rin rolled her eyes as if she was making up her mind about something before quickly answering Inspector Em.

[At 7 pm, my house.]

Rin's mission was about to be completed. Rin will finish this game herself. His father will receive the justice he deserves.

"I went to ask for more CCTV footage, going back to when Tao was in the stretcher unit." Em opened the clip she kept on her computer while Rin brought a glass of cold water to her desk. At this moment they were both in the living room of the house Rin was renting. It was a two-story house not too big in a town in the city. Em had to admit that he was pretty nervous about being here, but he couldn't show it.

"Look at this."

Rin walked over to the table and put his arms on it for support as he looked at the screen. He could see a woman in a nurse's uniform carrying a pink plastic basket walking through the entrance. Shortly after, the nurse came out with a man with wavy hair and black-framed glasses. "Isn't this Nurse Ornanong and Tao?"

"Ornanong went to see Tao before going to get your father out of the ICU". Em pressed to change the clip to show the path inside the hospital which was quite dark. "Ornanong took Tao behind the building. At the end of this road there was no longer any CCTV."

"The actual incident matches everything Tao's book says. This means that what Tao wrote was probably true. Ornanong tricked him behind the building and attacked him." Rin turned to look at Em. "And the person who took my father out of the ICU was Gunn, who disguised himself."

"But we can't conclude it like that. There is nothing to confirm that the person who carried your father's stretcher was Dr. Gunn, other than the record written by a dead person. There are many things we still have to prove before I can accuse him. legally." Em sighed, looking tense. "Let me tell you, prosecutor Sawitree is in a difficult situation. If our witness and our evidence are not strong enough, the prosecutor will not take this to court. Even if it is taken to court, Gunn's monster lawyer can help you to get his way."

"I know what to do," Rin said in a serious tone. "We have to find Tao's wife and ask her to tell us what happened after he was fired from his job."

"That's a good idea," Em used her left hand to grab the edge of the laptop screen to close it. Rin noticed something while doing this.

“I see you already took off your ring,” the young woman mentioned. "Does this mean you've met the right person?"

The police officer smiled slightly and turned his chair to look at Rin. "I thought you'd never mention it."

"The eyes of a forensic doctor like me never miss the detail," Rin laughed in his throat. "What is that woman like? Is she pretty?"

"Very pretty," Em's eyes looked at Rin from her beautiful long hair to her face and slender neck. He looked at the pale, smooth skin under the beige shirt and at her slim waist and hips in the pants she was wearing. Em reached out to grab the doctor's beautiful hands. He used his thumb to gently rub the backs of his hands. Rin looked at Em's hand. "The woman is an intelligent and talented doctor. She is fearless and brave. I have said bad things to her before, so I don't know if she would accept me if I apologize. I am determined that whatever she wants, I will find it for her and I will help her the best I can."

The doctor looked expressionless, "Say her name."

"Does it need to be said?"

Em looked up to look at the other person's face in anticipation. Rin could only keep a blank face for a moment before letting out a smile. The young woman removed her hands from Em's and used them to hold the policeman's face before leaning in to kiss him firmly. Em's eyes widened. Both of his hands waved awkwardly in the air for a while. When he came to, he hugged Rin's slim waist and pulled her towards him. The young woman sat on the man's lap. The passionate kiss and the heat of the room made them both gasp. Em slid her hands up to undo the buttons on Rin's blouse, showing off her black bra and beautiful breasts. Em brought her face closer to kiss her cleavage without hesitation. The young man's large hands squeezed her breasts as he smelled the floral fragrance of her skin before moving his hands to hold the woman's round buttocks. Rin made a soft sound in her throat, pleased with the touches the other side offered. The young doctor took off her blouse and let it fall to the floor.

Rin put her face close to Em's ear and whispered, "Do you have condoms?"

Em raised her eyebrows and smiled widely: "I've prepared some."

"How did you know to prepare?"

"When you told me to come see you at home, it occurred to me that it wouldn't cost me anything to bring some with me. It doesn't matter if I'll be able to use them or not."

Rin laughed and used her teeth to gently bite Em's ear. He raised two arms and hung them around the policeman's neck. Em picked her up and stood up. Rin's legs dangled tightly from his strong body. They exchanged passionate kisses as Em led her to the couch. Em placed Rin's body gently and took off his shirt, showing off his muscular torso. Em undid the hook on her pants and pulled them down her beautiful legs. When the other side only had black underwear on, and no matter how much emotion rose in the young man, Em felt like she had to stop and ask him something.

"If you don't want to continue... you can tell me, doctor."

"If you don't continue, I will be very angry." Rin lifted one of his legs and hung it over the broad shoulder of the other side. Her beautiful eyes looked at the young man's muscles, "Call me Rin."

"It's okay, Rin," Em responded with a smile before leaning down to kiss the inside of her thighs down to her underwear.

The moaning and labored breathing created by the feelings and emotions as Em moved over her naked body made Em forget all the problems that had happened. Em forgot even the pain of her previous love. It was difficult to erase the image when his ex-wife packed up her things and left home to be with a new man when their marriage had not lasted even a year. However, at this moment he didn't think about it for even a second. Em lifted Rin's face to kiss her once more before they both climaxed. In that second, the policeman promised himself that he would take better care of the woman who owned this beautiful body with his own life.
