Chapter 8: Exaggerate

Euthanasia: Spare Me Your Mercy volume 2

BAM!

Gunn angrily slammed his fist on the desk. His eyes were bloodshot like a monster's. The normally handsome face would probably scare anyone who saw it now.

Ornanong felt the strongest fire of anger he had ever experienced from the doctor. The middle-aged nurse sat up and looked at Gunn calmly. He knew well that consolation was of no use because the problem the young doctor was facing was too great for words of consolation to alleviate.

"Who is..." Gunn said hoarsely. He looked at Ornanong, “Nong, who is…”

Ornanong shook his head: "I don't know, Dr. Gunn."

"What does this person want?" Gunn crumpled the corner of the file paper on the table. It was the home visit record of the patient named Janpeng Wongduern.

"Doctor," the nurse stood up and walked towards Gunn's desk. "Aunt Junpeng's case might have nothing to do with us. We should let the police find the culprit..."

"No!" Gunn roared, which hit Ornanong. "The police must not find the culprit before me. I have to know who it is."

Ornanong was silent for a moment before saying, "If you find him first, what would you do, Dr. Gunn?"

Gunn did not respond. He stood up with his eyes full of resentment and stared straight ahead.

This gave Ornanong the answer as to what the young doctor in front of her would do to the murderer who acted so cruelly towards his patients. He had already successfully killed Dr. Somsak before and would be even more decisive with this assassin.

This made Ornanong worry about him from the bottom of his heart.

"Doctor, don't hurry up and act,"

the nurse tried to extend her hand to touch Gunn's arm, but the young man avoided her. She grabbed her bag and left the office. Ornanong watched the door close loudly with a worried expression on his face.

"There's only one reason I see you a lot at the police station, and that's because you're coming to pick up Wasan to go home. But today it seems like that's not the only reason." Inspector Em said to Gunn, who was sitting in the chair in front of his desk.

"Two of my patients were cruelly murdered," Gunn said in a tone that Em was not used to. The doctor seemed more exhausted than usual.

"Inspector, do you have any idea who did this?"

"We are doing everything we can to investigate. Today, Inspector Wasan questioned ten witnesses relentlessly." Em turned to grab a bottle of water and handed it to Gunn. The doctor nodded gratefully and received him.

"But you're surely not involved in this, are you?"

Gunn raised his head quickly and said, "Why did you say that? Just because those killed were my patients, can you relate it to me immediately?"

Em looked at the most terrifying behavior of the person in front of him with a bit of surprise. "I just joked with you. We can't link random people to cases like that. Otherwise, we'd all be embarrassed like last time. Another thing, you have an alibi too. Wasan protected you the best he could. He went and "He obtained CCTV footage from your house to show me that there was no way for you to leave the house. You were actually one of the first people we took off the suspect list."

"Umm," Gunn replied dryly. He took a deep breath to calm himself.

"In that case, I'll wait for Wasan outside."

"As you wish, doctor."

Em nodded and smiled. When the doctor left the room, he shook his head and said to himself. "It seems I'm the kind of person doctors hate. How should I fix this?"

Wasan left the interrogation room after interviewing witnesses. He found Lieutenant Arsha crossing his arms and leaning on the wall waiting for him in front of the room. Wasan used the file to hit his chest disapprovingly and said, "What are you doing here, Lieutenant?"

"Oh, why are you hitting me?" Lieutenant Kong overreacted. "I just wanted to come and tell you that Dr. Gunn is waiting to take you home."

"Gunn?"

Wasan looked surprised.

"Why did you come? I drove myself to work today."

"I'm like that too some days. I know my boyfriend doesn't need help, but I just want to go see him, ask for attention or take care of him unnecessarily. You can park your car here and go home with Dr. Gunn. Just make him happy."

Wasan exhaled and shook his head disapprovingly. The work was not yet finished. If he was going to wait, he would have to wait a long time. Wasan may have to message him and tell him to go home first:

"Do you have anything else to say?"

"We have new evidence," Kong opened a closed-circuit video from the hotel reception on his phone. A man and woman could be seen entering the hotel arm in arm.

"This is the CCTV of the Kleep Lumduan Hotel. Tim left his grandmother to sleep with the man named Ying. They entered at 9 pm and left at 5 am, which coincides with the time of Grandma Junpeng's death. So, This couple is not responsible for the murder."

Very interesting. Wasan quickly grabbed Kong's phone to see him more clearly.

"We urgently need to call Ying for questioning. Lieutenant, also investigate who Ying is and where he comes from."

"Inspector, you must love me more than Dr. Gunn right now," Lieutenant Kong rubbed his hands and smiled, his face full of confidence.

"Detective Kong already found out all those details. Ying is very close to the drug gang where I carried out the undercover operation.

It seems that he is an addict who always buys drugs from this gang. We suspect that Ying and Tim probably "They made a date to buy drugs and went to have sex together at the Kleep Lumduan Hotel."

"And how did the killer know that Tim wouldn't be there that night?" Wasan muttered to himself.

"He must have been watching as Tim enters and leaves the house."

"If he wasn't guarding the house, then he must be the person who made the appointment to buy drugs because he would know the schedule well,"

Lieutenant Kong snapped his fingers.

Wasan quickly looked at Kong, "Tim didn't say anything about taking drugs. Tomorrow, call Ying and Tim to question them again. You need to get the name of the drug dealer out of him. Also, perform a urine analysis on both of them."

Kong narrowed his eyes and looked at Wasan, "Inspector, it seems that you are completely in charge of this case. Is it because Dr. Guntapat's name came up?"

"I'm totally in charge of every case. Lieutenant, stop saying things." Wasan handed the phone back to Kong and prepared to walk away. However, he stopped in his tracks and turned to say to Kong before leaving,

"I went to bed together with the doctor at midnight. The doctor woke up at 2 am, which woke me up together with him. After That's why we didn't sleep again." Wasan leaned in to whisper in Kong's ear, "I'm sure I didn't have sex with a ghost in the house until dawn."

Kong was stunned with his eyes widening. He looked at Wasan walking away before slapping his legs. "He didn't have sex with a ghost, which means slhe had sex with the doctor until the morning. Wow! That's intense, Inspector. How wonderful. No wonder your face seems shiny today. I'll take Tum to compete with him next time, just wait."

Gunn insisted on waiting to return home with Wasan. At 6 pm. Wasan came out and saw the doctor playing with his phone while waiting on the bench near the entrance of the police station. Gunn looked at Wasan and immediately stood up.

"Why didn't you go back and wait at home?" Wasan crossed his arms and stood next to the other person.

"What mood are you in?"

"I didn't want to be alone."

Kan looked at the man he loves, looking cuter than usual, before taking Wasan's hand. "If I'm alone right now, I'll probably do something very stupid."

"For example?"

"For example, going out alone to look for the person who killed my patients."

Wasan had never seen Gunn so worried before.

"Do you have any clues as to who did this?"

"Don't even think about going out looking for him!" Wasan scolded him so loudly that the policeman sitting not far away turned to look at them.

"I'm doing my best, don't you see? You told me you'd stop doing risky things. Haven't you learned?"

"I'm sorry honey." Gun  responded sadly like a child who was scolded by his father. "I just said what I think. You can tell me a little about the investigation or how much information you have so far, so I can feel calm and not do anything."

"It better be like you said." Wasan sighed deeply and reached out to pat the doctor's shoulder, "I'll tell you later. I'm hungry, can we go now?"

Gunn looked at Wasan and smiled,

"You must be craving the hotpot from the same restaurant."

Wasan smiled secretly,

"Yes, you know me."

"Let's go together first and then we can come back for your car." Gunn stood up and touched Wasan's back to tell him to leave the police station.

Inspector Em and Lieutenant Kong crossed their arms as they looked at the two men. Kong grimaced.

"Look at those two lovers. We can't lose."

Em sighed: "Don't you know that the more you are in love, the more painful it is?" After finishing what he said, he turned around and walked away from Kong, leaving Kong looking confused.

"How dramatic. Isn't Inspector Em trying to date Dr. Rin?" Kong reminded himself, "Or does Inspector Em... like Inspector Wasan? Or Dr. Gunn? Previously he also liked to talk about Dr. Bunn as if he missed him terribly. There's also the problem that "He divorced his wife, but he refuses to take off his wedding ring. What's wrong with him?"

"Stop meddling in other people's business, Kong!"

Inspector Em's voice came with the wind, closing Kong's mouth. However, even though I might stop talking now, there is no way I will stop searching for the truth. For someone like the Thousand Eyed Detective, he had to know what he wanted to know because among the millions of things he knew, one of them could be so important that it could be the key to unlocking a person's deepest secrets.

SLAM!

The thin body of a man was dumped on a pile of garbage piled up in a desolate area in the dead of night. He should have already gone home after finishing the night shift work at the store and walked to his motorcycle parked behind the store. However, he had no idea how he was in this state. His head was spinning and he was confused from some drug that had been injected into his neck without him knowing. The young man tried to squint and look through the darkness to see the person attacking him, but it was useless because that tall, muscular man was dressed all in black with a black cap and a black mask to cover his face. His heart was pounding. Never in his life was he more afraid of death.

"Ying," said the mysterious man. His voice was not familiar at all. Ying tried to move away, but it seemed like his body was slowly paralyzing. "Do you know that Grandma Junpeng was killed?"

"I...I know..." Ying stammered, "But I'm not involved! I wasn't the one who did it!"

"And do you know who did it?"

Ying was stunned, “I…I don’t know.”

The man in black grabbed him by the neck and pulled violently causing Ying to scream loudly in fear. "If you know something, say it quickly."

Ying pursed her lips tightly. The man in black sighed before taking out an object that made the blood in Ying's body freeze. The tip of the gun pressed onto Ying's forehead. Just a flick of a finger and Ying's brain would surely burst out of his skull. "V...Van... The person's name is Van." He finally said something he didn't want to say. "He works for Chai, who owns a used car shop."

"He is the one who killed Grandma Junpeng?"

"He's the one who sold the drugs. He gave Tim and I ice* for free on the condition that I stop Tim from locking the house..."

"And you were so stupid that you did that knowing there was an old patient in the house? You wanted the ice so much that you did what he told you?" The man in black pressed the gun harder, causing Ying to scream in fear.

"I...I didn't know what he intended to do. I just checked that Tim's house was not locked. I don't know if he is really the person who killed Junpeng."

"Have you told the police about this?"

"I'd be an idiot if I did! If I tell him, Tim and I will surely die."

"We will all die, sooner or later." In that second, the voice of the man in front of him surprised Ying as if he was under a spell. "It seems that death is not something we can choose. But in some situations, we can choose how we want to die, whether to die well or die in pain."

At the end of the mysterious man's words, Ying's eyes rolled back due to the heavy dose of sedative. The thin man can no longer maintain consciousness. Ying lay down on the pile of trash as the man in black slowly stood up, coldly staring at the unconscious man.

Wasan opened his eyes as he felt a weight on his head as if there was a rock crushing him. This wasn't a normal feeling after waking up, but it wasn't the first time either.

Wasan struggled with his heavy eyelids for a while. He felt dizzy as if he had a hangover. He turned on his side to look at the back of his lover, who was about to turn off the alarm on his phone.

"I feel like that again," Wasan said sleepily. "I feel like I don't want to wake up. It's a strange dizziness, especially strange because I went to bed early last night."

"Is that so?" Gunn turned and hugged Wasan and gently kissed her forehead.

"You must be stressed from work. These days they are all serious cases and you are not young anymore."

Wasan looked angry, "Say that again."

The young doctor laughed and said, "Sleep some more. I'll wake you up when I'm done taking a shower."

"Umm," Wasan replied softly in his throat. Gunn smiled because he realized that the policeman was looking for attention. "Doctor, do you have any medicine for dizziness?"

"Yes, I have. I'll bring it to you." Gunn stroked Wasan's head a few more times before getting out of bed. Wasan looked at the doctor's tall, muscular body. It seemed bigger. His muscles were sculpted thanks to his dietary discipline and exercise. In addition to taking good care of himself, Gunn was also dedicated to taking care of Wasan. So well that Wasan was afraid he would get used to it. However, he also felt that he was luckier than anyone else. Simply lying waiting on the bed, a handsome doctor served him medicine and a glass of warm water.

Wasan was going back to sleep while Kantapat was taking a shower, but a call from someone startled him and woke him up again. He picked up the phone to see who it was and just seeing the name made him cranky. Wasan pressed to pick up the phone with his eyes still closed. "What's wrong, Lieutenant Kong?"

"Sorry to bother you, this is a bit urgent," Kong said. "Last night my boyfriend had a night shift. In the morning we discovered that there are traces that someone tried to enter the room. What's more, the closed circuit in the hospital bedroom does not work. What a bummer."

"Oh! Is something missing from the room?"

"We have checked it and nothing is missing. There are only traces that someone tried to enter the room, but was unsuccessful because my boyfriend double-locked the room. I would like to ask what brand of CCTV you are using in your house. Of the that you showed me, the resolution of the images is good. You can also review and play from an app on your phone, right?"

"Yes, just a second." Wasan opened the app to watch the CCTV from the phone: “You can watch it again like this, I will take a screenshot and show it to you.”

Wasan pressed to open the recorded CCTV footage and chose the time period last night. I expected to see the front of the house that was quiet and calm as always, but no. The screen showed that there was no video recorded at that time. Wasan sat back down and pressed to open the recording from the previous day, which turned out to be fine. Wasan captured this screen and sent it to Kong via LINE Chat.

"I'll ask the doctor to send you the details. He was the one who bought and installed it."

"Thank you, Inspector. Please also thank the doctor for me. See you at the police station," then Kong hung up. After talking to Kong, Wasan was more awake. However, the dizziness persisted. Wasan wanted to find something that would make him feel better. Maybe those herbal inhalers could work. He got up, went down the stairs and walked towards the shelf where a medical kit prepared by Gunn was placed. There are all kinds of medications for basic treatment that could very well open a clinic at home. While Wasan was looking for a herbal inhaler, he noticed that there were two packets of medicine placed on top and many pills had already been taken out. Wasan picked them up to look at them and discovered that the medications were Diazepam and Alprazolam.

Diazepam is a sleeping pill while alprazolam is known as a drug that can induce sexual intercourse although it can also be used in cases of insomnia. But who uses them, Gunn?

"Dear" Gunn's voice made Wasan shiver a little. He looked up and saw Gunn wrapped only in a piece of towel and with his hair all wet. "Don't you feel better?"

"No, I feel better. I just wanted an inhaler." Wasan closed the medical kit and showed the inhaler to Gunn. "Did you finish your shower?"

"Yes," Gunn smiled at Wasan.

"Well." Wasan walked upstairs in the opposite direction with Gun, "Oh yes, please check the CCTV. It doesn't seem to have the records from last night."

"Oh really?" Gunn raised his eyebrows, looking surprised. "I'll probably have problems again. It was like that the other night too. I'll check with the store."

Wasan nodded in acknowledgment and walked towards the bedroom. Gunn's eyes followed the man he loved as his sweet smile slowly faded. Gunn looked at the medical kit Wasan had just opened and fear slowly seeped in to devour his mind. The doctor's hands shook a little without him realizing it. Gunn slowly came down to sit on the stairs. He looked up at the ceiling. How long can you stand this kind of feeling? The more he continued, the more he realized his falsehood for blatantly lying to the person he loves. He could even drug Wasan with a sleeping pill so that he could sleep soundly all night without waking up to find an empty bed and steal Wasan's gun to threaten Ying.

And Wasan's symptoms at this time were also side effects of the higher dose of sleeping pills compared to last time. Gun  always wondered if he was exaggerating and the answer was always clear to him. This exaggeration was an inevitable necessity.

No matter how bad he felt for Wasan, Gunn would never give up. No matter how exhausted and scared I was, I had to continue. It doesn't matter at what cost.

I needed to be more careful. Keep reminding yourself of that, Gunn. Be more cautious. The doctor took the sedative packets out of the box and squeezed them tightly in his hand.

Gunn took advantage of his lunch break to meet Chartchai at his second-hand car shop that bears the same name as the owner. Of course, the doctor who was elegantly dressed and good looking would receive a warm welcome from the store owner, who was also a patient who Gunn diagnosed with high blood pressure at the family medicine clinic.

"What kind of car are you looking for, doctor?" The plump middle-aged man rubbed his hands, looking hopeful. "Right now I have a black Mercedes Benz E-Class with a coconut burner, beautiful. I have driven it very little. The previous owner took very good care of it. It is very suitable for people of your level. I will give you a discount with many free products in exchange for "take good care of my health."

"I'm looking for someone," Gunn got to the point, making Chartchai's smile fade slightly.

SLAM!

The sound of some equipment falling to the ground caught the two's attention. It was in the same direction Chartchai was pointing.

A man, who had his back turned to Gunn, quickly got up and ran out of the auto shop. Seeing that, Gunn ran out to follow him without hesitation. Gunn's heart beat rapidly when he saw this person's suspicious behavior. He could be a drug dealer or the killer he was looking for. Gunn couldn't think of anything right now other than stopping this person no matter what method he had to use.

"High!" Gunn shouted loudly as that man ran towards an alley filled with longan orchards. With the speed at which Gunn was running, the doctor was confident that he would be able to catch up with that man in no time, which was true. Gunn was able to jump and grab the man's neck before rolling down the hot road. Gunn used his strength to launch himself on top and used both hands to press the other person's throat. Gunn tried to look closely at the other person's face.

He is a stranger with tanned skin. He is not more than 35 years old. He had wavy hair long enough to cover his face. His glasses were crooked on his nose. He could only glance briefly because the other person's size was similar to his own. In the blink of an eye, Gunn fell onto the road. The doctor tried to gain the upper hand again, but the heavy blows that landed on his face made Gunn dizzy for a moment. Gunn hit back, causing the person's glasses to fly off. The young man pulled Gunn's hair and slammed his head into the ground, making Gunn no longer able to react because he felt immense pain in his head.

"Heh...heh...heh," cold laughter entered Gunn's ears, "You found me so quickly. Too quickly. Now, what do we do next, doctor? What do we do?"

"You are you." Gunn said softly. "You're... the one who wrote that note, right?"

"Not me, doctor. You know very well that I am not." That man leaned closer. The tip of his nose touched Kan's ear,

"This is what I've been trying to yell at everyone since the day Dr. Somsak died, but no one listened to me."

The doctor's eyes glazed over, but he tried to keep his conscience alert. "How much do you want…?"

There was silence for a moment before the person with the advantage laughed, which echoed throughout the area. "Give me some time to get a calculator, doctor. We'll make an appointment for next time. Does that sound good?"

Kantapat tried to maintain his concentration to accurately remember the other person's face: "I... can make you die."

The man Chartchai called Van raised his index finger to touch Kan's lips, "Don't say it too loud, someone might hear you killing people."

Kan turned his face, "I will find you."

"We will surely meet again, doctor."

And this was the last sentence Kan heard before the wound on his head and the heat knocked the doctor out of consciousness.

"What did you say? Is Ying hospitalized? Did he get drunk and sleep in a pile of garbage?...okay, then bring Tim." Kong hung up the phone and made a sullen lip sound. "Someone found Ying unconscious on a pile of garbage at dawn and now he has been taken to the hospital." Kong turned to look at Wasan, who was pressing his temples against the desk. "You too, did you overdo it last night again?"

"No," the young inspector leaned back in the chair and took a deep breath. "I don't know what happened. I'm very sleepy and dizzy again."

"Inspector, would you like to take some medicine or maybe lie down and rest? I'll call you when Tim arrives." Kong changed his tone and said with an expression that he meant well because he could sense that Wasan's symptoms were not very good.

"Yes, let me find a place to close my eyes. Call me when the witness arrives." Wasan decided to get up and walked towards a water cooler. Maybe a glass of cold water can help. However, Wasan didn't even reach his destination when he felt the ground shake.

"Hey! Inspector!" Then Wasan collapsed along with the shocked cries of Lieutenant Kong and others in the police station who saw what happened.
