Chapter 9: The Thousand Eye Detective
Euthanasia: Spare Me Your Mercy volume 2
"What is this madness about? Honey, help me figure it out." Lieutenant Kong turned to speak to the nurse who was sitting with him on the bench in front of the emergency room.
"It all happened on the same day. An important witness was found unconscious on a pile of garbage, Dr. Gunn was also found unconscious in the middle of the Longan orchard alley and Inspector Wasan fainted in the middle of the police station. The condition of The last two is also quite serious. Are they all related?"
Tum, who was holding a cup of coffee, turned to look at the police officer.
"If they are related, what would be the reason?"
"I don't know," Kong who was wearing his favorite black leather jacket leaned on the bench with a thoughtful expression. "Normally I can solve these problems, but this one is very confusing. Dr. Gunn's name also appears on top of all this when everything should have ended when we closed Dr. Somsak's case.
But it seems that things underwater have stirred up and something makes them visible again."
Tum was silent for a moment, as if he was deep in thought before he said,
"To be honest, I never feel comfortable when I'm with Dr. Gunn."
Kong turned to look at Tum, interested. "How? Tell me."
"It's hard to say," Tum looked uncomfortable. "It's probably the memory of when the doctor barged into my room. I've been afraid of him ever since. Although we're close now and I should be less scared, but no. Dr. Gunn seems like someone who... has something to hide all the time." time. But this is just a feeling. I have no adequate evidence."
Kong pats Tum's head, "I have something to hide too."
Tum looked at Kong and frowned, "What's wrong? Do you have a secret again?"
"I'm hiding the love I have for you. It's filling my heart to almost overflowing." Kong raised his eyebrows, but was followed by a screech from someone's elbow. Kong played with Tum for a while longer before he saw a tall man walking towards him. He could tell it was Inspector Em by the sound of the footsteps.
However, what is more interesting was the person who followed him, the beautiful and honorable forensic doctor. Kong stood up and smiled at Em.
"How is Wasan?" Em asked Kong impatiently.
"It's not as serious as your boyfriend." The young lieutenant looked at Dr. Rin. "You'll come in and take a look, right, Doctor?"
"Yes, someone reported that Gunn has been physically attacked. I will go in to see his injuries."
"Please also take a look at Inspector Wasan's symptoms," Em said to Rin with a distinctly softer tone. Kong smiled at them both.
"Yes," Rin nodded to excuse himself before taking quick steps towards the emergency room. The image inside the emergency room at that moment was one of chaos. Not only did they have many emergency patients, but a doctor everyone loved was also there.
Rin walked towards Gunn's bed. Gunn was awake but seemed exhausted.
One of his arms was hooked up to an intravenous drip. What caught Rin's attention the most were the red scratches and bruises on his face, indicating that these injuries only occurred recently.
"Hello, Gunn."
Usually, Gunn was someone whose mood was difficult to predict, but at this moment it seemed like he could collapse at any moment.
He looked at the patient wearing half a police uniform on another bed without looking away. That patient was Inspector Wasan, someone Gunn loves.
"I should be the one to take care of him at times like this,"
this was the first sentence Gunn said to Rin. "Fate likes to play with us, doesn't it?"
"What happened?" Rin asked while wearing medical gloves.
"Wasan fainted, but it was nothing serious. He can go home soon. I already asked Lieutenant Kong to wait and take my boyfriend home to rest."
"Actually, I wanted to ask what happened to you," the doctor reached out to touch the bruises on her face and looked at them closely,
"Your answer tells me that you're more worried about your boyfriend than yourself."
Gunn frowned a little as Rin touched the areas that hurt. His gaze was lowered as if guilty. "I... I really can't remember the incident."
Rin raised an eyebrow, "Have they done a brain CT scan?"
"I already did it. Everything is normal." Gunn closed his eyes. "What I remember is that I went out to look at a car in Chart's workshop during my lunch break. And I don't remember anything after that."
Rin felt something was strange, but she couldn't tell if it was because of the person in front of her or something else. What Gunn said was possible. People who have been attacked may lose memory due to concussions. "Gunn, please open your mouth, now clench your teeth. If I press anywhere and you feel pain, let me know."
The doctor quickly examined Gunn's wounds and facial injury. He helped Gunn sit up before closing the curtains.
"Undress, please."
Gunn obediently complied. The young woman did not feel embarrassed by Gunn's muscular body, but what caught Rin's eyes the most were the wounds on his shoulder blades and right chest. It seemed like he had been seriously injured many months ago.
"You may have seen the news," Gunn smiled slightly as if he could read the young girl's mind. This surprised Rin a little.
"The big case before you moved here."
"I've seen it," Rin said forcefully as she searched for Gunn's wounds. "The euthanasia case of the former hospital director. Dr. Gunn, who tried to expose this case, was seriously injured by a gunshot, while Dr. Somsak was shot dead... by the police at the hospital after that".
"You followed the news closely, didn't you?"
"It was great news and I also had to study the information about the surrounding area before coming to live here." The doctor took off her gloves, "That's it. You can get dressed now, Gunn. I'll quickly write up the forensic report on the injuries."
"Thank you," Gunn said quietly. Rin threw the gloves in the trash and walked away from Gunn's bed.
The young woman stood still in the empty area in the middle of the emergency room without any expression on her face. Her beautiful sharp eyes stared into empty space. He didn't pay attention to the people moving around him.
*****
"Dad, I can't hear anything," the young girl in a blue princess dress seemed confused as she tried to listen with her father's stethoscope.
"You have to listen from here." His father's large hands grabbed his hands and lifted them to place them on his chest. "How are you? Can you hear now?"
"I can only hear your voice. It's very loud."
The young woman laughed, "I'll stop talking and you try to listen carefully."
The girl remained silent to listen carefully to what her father was saying. The sound that slowly became apparent was the sound he had never heard before in his life. She excitedly looked at her dad. "I can hear thump, thump, thump, thump."
"That's the sound of the heart," his father told him softly. "Do you like it?"
The girl nodded repeatedly. "I like it."
The young man smiled widely: "You probably want to become a doctor like dad now."
"I want to be a doctor." The girl said loudly and clearly. His big round eyes shone. "I want to be a good doctor like you, dad."
"Doctor Rin...Doctor Rin?"
The sound of the emergency room nurse calling woke Rin from her reverie, "Yes?"
"Do you want anything else?" The nurse asked with a doubtful expression.
"Oh no." The young woman turned to look at Gunn's bed for a moment before turning around to say,
"May I bother you and ask you about Inspector Wasan's symptoms?"

"SHIT! Your father died!*" Chartchai was shocked when he found the young man in a black leather jacket and a black cap covering his face, waiting for him silently like a ghost in the back of the auto shop office.
"My dad is fine, Chartchai." Kong raised his hand to adjust his cap on his face and smiled at the fat middle-aged man. "We haven't seen each other in a long time."
Of course, the meeting between them this time did not make Chartchai very happy. "Lieutenant Kong."
"Chartchai, don't be so cold to me. We are friends," Kong laughed happily in stark contrast to Chartchai's expression. "Apparently my boyfriend forbids me from doing field work, but working at the police station gets boring after a while. So instead, I'm here talking to you."
"Lieutenant, just tell me what you want," Chartchai crossed his arms.
"Won't you say hello to me since we're friends? Oh, well, I'll get to the point. Apparently, Dr. Gunn was attacked when he came to look at a car at your shop. I don't know what happened, but the next thing he knew, he was "He was injured there. I want to ask you to fill in the missing information about the information."
Chartchai waved his hand: "The doctor really came to see a car, but I don't know anything about any physical attack. He looked at the car and left the workshop, that's all."
Kong raised an eyebrow, "Is that all?"
"Hey, Lieutenant, stop bothering me. I already told you everything I know. You can try asking the people in the alley in case there is a witness who has more useful information than me." Chartchai prepared to leave.
"How many illegal workers did you hire to work for you this time? Or did you modify the cars and adjust the miles to deceive customers?" Kong said with a mocking face as Chartchai stopped. "If we dig a little deeper, we might find more good things."
The chubby man turned around and approached Kong. He said in a low, trembling voice, "How much would be enough for you to stop investigating this?"
"Let me calculate," Kong picked up his phone to press the calculator. "1,000 for the utility bill and 5,000 for my husband's allowance because he eats a lot, 4,000 for gasoline and 10,000 for my house debt." The policeman raised his head to look at Chartchai and smiled. "What I want is... the CCTV footage during the time Dr Gunn came to see the car. From the moment he entered to the moment he left. That's all."
Chartchai looked alarmed and said hesitantly:
"The CCTV is broken."
Kong snapped.
"This is not nice. I bet the CCTV recorded the faces of your illegal workers. I'll close one eye and pretend I don't see your workers because I'll only focus on Dr. Kantapat."
The policeman raised his hand to pat Chartchai's shoulder, "Come on, we're friends, right?"
Chartchai remained silent for a long time before letting out a long sigh: "You promised not to charge me anything, right?"
"Of course, I promise. A man like Lieutenant Arsha is a man of his word." Kong raised an eyebrow, "Now, can you take me to watch the CCTV?"
The detective with a thousand eyes had to get all the information he wanted. Kong knew the way to get the information he needed, although sometimes the method didn't seem right. Kong's motto was that to achieve great achievements he had to be calm.
He has always considered the result of his work as the most important thing while the rest was just a process. This way of thinking made Tum scold him all the time.
Chartchai took Tum to the office monitor, entered the password and opened the CCTV recording. It took some time to find the time period when Gunn arrived at the store: "I found it. Just scroll to the time you want to see."
"Thank you," Kong immediately interjected. His eyes carefully scanned the situation on the recording as if it were a computer scanner. What he saw was a top view from the front of the store and the person walking was the handsome doctor that Kong knew very well.
"Right now I have a black Mercedes Benz E-Class with a sunroof. Beautiful. I have driven it very little. The previous owner took very good care of it. It is very suitable for people of your level. I will give you a discount with many free products in exchange for taking care of "My health is fine." Chartchai's voice on the recording appeared, followed by Gunn's voice who responded:
"I'm looking for someone."
SLAM!
A sound similar to something falling to the ground was heard. Dr. Gunn looked in the direction of the sound and ran away.
Kong quickly stopped the video and stared: "What is this? Who was Dr. Gunn looking for?" Kong turned to look at Chartchai. "Who did the doctor follow?"
Chartchai hesitated: "You told me you would only look at the doctor."
The young policeman looked menacingly at the other party, "Chartchai, will you tell me nicely or do you want me to investigate myself?"
"He's... a worker in the shop. I hire him by the day."
"Name?"
"Van. His name is Van."
"Can I have a copy of your ID or Alien Card?"
"Lieutenantâ¦"
Kong opened his palm, "Chartchai, don't make me wait too long."
Chartchai hesitated for a moment and finally relented.
He searched for the documents for Kong. As soon as the copy of the ID was placed in Kong's hand, he could feel a stage energy that gave him goosebumps from head to toe. The mocking smile on Kong's face slowly faded.
The name on the ID was 'Mr. Kitti Pohnuma'. Looking at the photo on the ID along with the nickname 'Van', Kong knew someone very well since he disguised himself to investigate a big drug dealer.
I knew a lot of drug dealers from that era and Van was one of them.
The sound indicated that the office door slammed shut and two huge men dressed in black were walking towards Kong. The policeman whistled and quickly squeezed the paper in his hand into his pocket. Kong turned to follow Chartchai, who quickly ran out of the room.
"You run like a dog with your tail between your legs. I told you, the more I dig, the more good things I will find."
The policeman looked bravely at the huge men.
"Think carefully about whether you want me to get out of here and get it over with, or whether you want both you and your boss in shit."
As soon as Kong saw one of the men pulling out a gun, Kong didn't hesitate and used his quick senses thanks to constant practice to run straight towards the person with the gun. When the person wasn't careful, he grabbed the end of the gun and slammed it into the person's face with such force that the man in black tripped and hit a vase behind him on the ground. The vase broke and shattered.
Kong used another hand to push away the hand of the man holding the gun and pulled the barrel of the gun to the other side. As a result, the weapon easily found its way into Kong's hands. He slammed the handle of the gun into the man's eye socket and kicked him in the stomach once more until he fell to the ground and groaned in pain. Another man dressed in black jumped on a Kong, holding him back. The police officer slammed his head back, hitting the attacker's face, and when he was stunned, Kong hooked his leg to make him lose his balance. He then threw the man in black to the ground. Finally, Kong pointed the gun at the man he had just knocked to the ground to announce his victory. It all happened in just a few seconds.
"Assholes, you still dare to come take care of me with skills like these? You guys are so bad that I didn't even have to take out my own weapon!" Kong stomped on the stomach of the man lying at his feet again, making him groan in extreme pain, before he strode out of the room and left the auto shop as soon as possible.
Kitti Pohnuma
The person Chartchai said his name was Van was not a foreign worker, but a Thai. He used to work temporarily as an orderly at the provincial hospital. Aside from this, his record seemed clean, contradicting Kong's information that he was involved with drug dealers. Kong leaned back in his chair and looked thoughtfully at the laptop screen with the background check information.
"At first I thought Chartchai was going to hand over a document about a random person, but if this man used to work at the same hospital, it's possible that he knew Dr. Gunn before." Kong said the analysis to himself. "Did the doctor go to see this person? Why?"
"Kong," Tum's voice came from behind him. "What did you hit your head on?"
The police officer quickly turned to see the owner of the voice, who was wearing a baggy t-shirt and shorts. He seemed in a bad mood. His eyes were swollen and his hair was everywhere because he had just recovered from a night shift the night before. Although Tum woke up at 6 pm, he still looked cute as always.
"Hmm, what happened to my head?"
"Hey, you're bleeding from a head wound and you didn't know?" The nurse seemed upset.
Kong raised his hand to touch the back of his head and found something dry and hard stuck to his scalp, where his hair was cut police-style. He felt pain when her hand touched him, "Hey, you're right."
"What did you do? Come here, let me take a look." Tum pulled Kong so hard that his head almost fell off.
"Mr. Nurse, be kind to your patient."
"First tell me what you did," Tum asked dryly.
Kong realized that this injury was probably from when he used his head to hit the man in black in the auto shop. "I was in a fight."
"Again," Tum looked even more displeased. "You told me you wouldn't do anything risky anymore."
"It was necessary, Tum." The policeman hugged the other person's thin waist tightly and looked at him as if seeking attention. "Please take care of my wound for me."
The small-built man sighed loudly. Although Tum felt very upset with Kong, he always loses whenever he seeks attention like this. "Let me go get the first aid kit."
"Yes sir." Kong released his arms from Tum's waist and his gaze followed Tum until he left the bedroom. When Tum left, Kong quickly turned his chair and thought for a moment before deciding to call Inspector Em.
"What's happening?" He didn't have to wait long before Em's raspy voice responded. "I heard you went to the auto shop?"
"That's a minor problem, Inspector." The Thousand Eyed Detective said with a serious expression and tone that rarely occurred. "Right now there is a bigger problem that I'm trying to process. I would like you to help me think through it and tell me that... I'm not the only one who feels bad about this."
