chapter 25
Hate
Liam and Mark sat in the principal's office, listening to the familiar litany of complaints about their twin sons, Augustine and Aiden. The boys were now five years old, and their mischievous behavior had only intensified with age.
"Sirs.," the principal said, shaking her head, "I'm afraid Augustine and Aiden are having a difficult time adjusting to the rules and expectations of our school. They're constantly fighting, disrupting the class, and bullying other students. We've tried everything to correct their behavior, but nothing seems to be working."
Liam and Mark exchanged a knowing glance. They had been down this road before, and they knew that their sons' behavior was not going to change overnight.
"We understand," Liam said, sighing. "We've tried to discipline them, to teach them right from wrong, but it's just not sinking in. We're at our wit's end."
Mark nodded in agreement. "We've been thinking of exploring other options," he said. "Maybe a more structured environment would be better for them. We've been considering military school."
The principal's expression changed from one of frustration to one of surprise. "Military school?" she repeated. "I'm not sure that's the right fit for five-year-olds, Sir."
Liam and Mark exchanged another glance. They knew it was a drastic measure, but they were desperate to find a solution to their sons' behavior.
"We're willing to try anything," Liam said, firmly. "We want our sons to grow up to be good men, and right now, we're not seeing that happen. We need to take drastic measures to correct their behavior."
The principal nodded, understanding. "I see," she said. "Well, I wish you the best of luck, sir . I hope you find a solution that works for your family."
The sun set on their home, Mark and Liam couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and pride. The twins, Augustine and Aiden, had finally emerged from their room, exhausted but determined to change their ways.
The threat of being separated and sent to different boarding schools had been a wake-up call for the twins. They had realized that their behavior had been unacceptable and that they needed to make a change.
Mark and Liam had been firm but loving in their approach, and it had paid off. The twins were now behaving themselves, and the house was once again filled with laughter and joy.
As a reward for their good behavior, Mark and Liam had surprised the twins with brand new bicycles. The twins had been over the moon with excitement, and Mark and Liam had been happy to see them so carefree.
They sat down to dinner together, Mark and Liam couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and harmony that had been restored to their home. They knew that there would still be challenges ahead, but they were confident that they could face them together, as a family.
And so, with full hearts and happy smiles, Mark, Liam, Augustine, and Aiden rode off into the sunset on their new bicycles, ready for whatever adventures lay ahead.
