Epilogue
The Last Healer (A Witch's Tale)
Epilogue:
"Edison, Edison!" Valen was calling her firstborn. A handsome young man who looked so much like Edward, ran towards her as he hugged her and gave her a kiss on her cheek. The young man was just a bit shorter than Valen, but at the age of nine, he was already tall and for sure he will be as tall as his father. He got the same gray eyes as his father, his hair is straight, same as Valen, but the color is medium blond which he got from Edward, as well as his grandmother, Lady Melinda.
"I have been looking for you. No one knew where you are. Didn't I tell, when we visited the graves in Yel yesterday, that we will be mixing herbs today together with Emily."
"I'm sorry mother if I am a bit late. But yes I remember that we will be mixing herbs this late afternoon, that was why father and I returned home immediately. We went horseback riding, remember? I asked you if you will allow me and you said yes."
Valen's eyes widened as she remembered that her son asked permission to go and ride his horse, Splash. Edison had given that name to his horse after riding it as he noticed that his horse loves water.
"Oh yes, I almost forgot. Anyway you are already here so let us go, Emily is waiting for us. And by the way, what is it behind you, it seemed you were hiding something and also, where is your father?"
"I went ahead here running since we will be mixing herbs. He returned our horses to the stable and will give them water. He said he will be here with us later! For this thing I am holding behind me, this is something I will be giving to Emily, you will see it later."
The two went to the favorite tea spot where a girl was sitting on one of the chair, swinging her legs back and forth alternately as she hums a lively tune. She noticed her mother and brother coming and she jumps out of the chair and run towards the two and gave them both a hug. The girl was so pretty and has a great resemblance to Valen, from her cheeks, chin and nose. She has a long, shiny, black hair too but not straight though, she has a natural soft wavy hair that is curly on its end. Her almond eyes are amber same as her grandmother Lady Melinda.
"Have you been waiting like a good girl Emily?" Valen asked her daughter.
"Yes, I do mother. I just sat there waiting for you while looking at the herbs and plants we gathered a while ago. But I must admit I got bored waiting so I sang, uhm I hummed I supposed."
"Hey Emily, I have something for you." Edison said and Emily looked at his brother with gleaming eyes of anticipation.
"Tada!" Edison showed her the wild red flower he picked near the lake. "I remember you liked that flower when we went to the lake last time. Since there are two of them, the other one is for you mother."
"Oh yes, I do love this flower. I love how brilliant the color of red it has, even though it was just a wild flower. Thank you Edison!" She said as she gave her brother another hug.
"Thank you Edison. So here is a question for both of you...the flower is called..." Valen started.
"Redpick!" The two said in unison.
"Great! And what can this little flower cure?"
"Burn!" Edison and Emily again said in unison!
"Remarkable! You both remember! Well, since Emily love this flower, perhaps we can plant some of them in the yard."
"Yey!" Emily happily exclaimed!
Edward came and saw his very own family, happily preparing and mixing different kinds of herbs and plants. A warmth filled his heart as he felt happiness inside him. He thought that it was the greatest thing that happened to him and it was a great decision to build his own family. He never once thought that he will be a responsible man; a responsible, loving husband; a responsible, doting father, and a responsible and respectable king. He realized that everything fall into their right places after meeting and marrying Valen. It was the perfect ultimate decision he thought he made. He joined his family and the four of them had their great bonding moment as they prepare the medicines.
-End-
â
-Bonus-
Valen was the last black, straight-haired healer. However, she no longer was the last healer alive. Everyone in Cellis was so happy that the two siblings have an innate ability to understand every plants and ingredients even though they were both born not having the black, straight hair the common characteristic healers have. There was no doubt that they were indeed...healers. A healer different from the usual with black and straight hair. The start of new healers.
As the two siblings reached the age of ten, they both showed unique abilities of their own. Edison's ability was the same as Valen's mother, he can eliminate medicines side effects at will. Emily on the other hand has the ability to eliminate the foul taste and smell of a medicine which has been a great help for picky patients.
All healers, if married to a non-healers, their children would never be a healer. All healers knew this that was why as much as possible, they marry their own kind. However, Valen and Edward's children were the exception, because it was all about Valen being the exceptional black-straight haired healer that shows every century. Being the exceptional one, she can marry a non-healer - a non-black straight hair person; and their children... whether born having a black-straight hair or not, are going to inherit a natural healer's innate ability to understand plants and medicines and can have their own unique ability.
She was the exceptional one having more than two abilities. Only Valen knew if she even had more than three. Her first ability was that any ingredients, plants or medicines do not have great effects on her, whether it was a positive or negative effects. Second, her ability to heal herself quickly and effectively if she personally prepare her own medicine. Valen even thought that it was a very self-centered ability but that was her own unique ability. The third ability was to "speak" to an animal, through her eyes and mind. Valen thought at first that the animals are frightened of her when she looks at them, but she realized that she was wrong during the time when Mia controlled the horses. The time when she was calming Spirit, telling him inside her mind to be calm and to fight off the darkness as she looked at him. Same thing goes with the other wild animals who run away from her before. She was afraid that time and has been thinking inside her head for the animals to move away from her which the animals did.
More years past, healers can no longer be distinguished by their hairs anymore. You can no longer tell a black straight hair person being a healer or not. And because of this and everything that happened in the past, discrimination was eliminated between healers and non-healers. Respect and harmony were something that can always be seen all around Cellis.
