'I think she remembers'

Three dreadfully long days pass and all I live off is warm water and disgusting hospital food, plus the ridiculous amount of tablets I get given throughout the day.

Malin and Cam came to see me yesterday and showed me loads of pictures of everything we've done through the years and tell me loads of memories. The doctor said that the more they tell me, the quicker my memory will come back, they even went as far as telling me what my favourite pizza toppings are.

Perri comes in for hours everyday, I tell him he doesn't need to come as often but he insists. He's told me about how he took me to our own prom and about the argument we had the night before the argument and how he couldn't believe it but we made up and it was one of the hardest, most upsetting times of his life. I'm not just upset because I've temporarily lost my memory for I don't know how long, or maybe even forever, but it's so hard for me having to watch Perri sit in front of me and tell me things about our relationship as if he's telling someone else about it. Like I can't even kiss him because I don't know how I feel about him or anything, although I know I want to.

'I'm just going to grab some lunch, I'm starving,' My Mum chuckles

'Okay,' I smile, she gives me a kiss on the cheek then leaves the room and I switch on my T.V, a movie comes on of a couple slow dancing.

Then all of a sudden I drift into a daydream.

I imagine that I'm slow dancing with someone and We're telling each other that we love each other and that we knew from the moment we met each other that we wanted to be with each other, but when I look up at their face...NO WAY!

It wasn't a daydream! It was a flashback! A memory!

'I remember,' I mutter to myself

'I REMEMBER!' I repeat but shout at loud as I can,

Immediately, a nurse comes rushing in,

'What's the matter?'

'I-I remember,' I laugh,

Her face lights up and she rushes off out of the room,

All of a sudden my head fills with memories,

'M-Mal,' I stuttered, not taking my eyes off of him, 'I'll ring you back in a sec-' I quickly ended the call and wrapped my arms around his shoulders, he wrapped his arms around my waist and moved me towards the wall. He kissed me, I kissed him...

When we stopped we were slightly out of breath,

'So,'

'So,' I repeated, I still had my arms on his shoulders and he had one of his hands on his waist and one cupping my face,

'What does this mean,' He said smiling, looking at my hands,

'I don't know Perri, what do you want it to mean,'

'I want it to mean, well, more than just friends,' He blushed and looked down,

'Wait, are you blushing,' I grinned, he laughed and looked down. I lifted his head up with my hand so he was looking straight at me,

'That's what I wanted from the moment I met you,' I smiled, he smiled back and kissed me again. But this time it was different, it meant more. It was passionate and full, like something he wanted to get out of his system. Maybe it was something he wanted to do for some time as well...

'I should get home,' Perri shuffles slightly underneath me, waking me up. I gently grab hold of him and keep him still, I look at the Tv and the credits are rolling for the film we were originally watching.

'Stay,' I smile,

'You know you could convince me to kill a man with that smile,' He grins and lays back down, lifting his arm up so I could rest my head underneath it,

I watched his eyes become heavy and he began to fall into a sleep, i start laughing and nudge him lightly with my elbow, waking him up. He starts laughing and looks at me again,

'Will you be my girlfriend ?' He smirks, squinting his eyes from the far-too-bright sun,

'You don't understand how much I've wanted to ask you recently,' He can't seem to remove the beaming smile from his face,

'Kacey, you've really made me realise what I want, I never thought i would ever meet someone as perfect as you, never mind get this close to them,' He laughed and edged closer to me,

'And what do you want?'

'What?'

'You said, you've really made me realise what I want,'

'I want you,'

I blush and move my focus from my hands to his eyes,

'So will you?'

'I've been waiting for you to ask,'

He got up and so did I, He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me passionately, not as someone who had a crush on me and was making me feel a hell of a lot better. But as my boyfriend...

'Kacey!? The nurse said you had something urgent to tell me,'

'I remember Mum,' I smile,

'No!'

I nod, still smiling and she bursts out laughing, hugging me tightly,

'Well we have to tell Perri!' She gasps,

'Oh my God please Mum I need to tell him myself,' She hands me the phone and I dial the number I know off by heart,

'Hello?'

'Hey Pel?'

'Pel?'

'Yeah, get your ass down here,' I laugh and hang up before he questions me,

Perri's POV

'Who was that Pel?'

'It was kacey,' I smile to myself,

'No way!' they all make a noise,

'What did she say?'

'I think, I think she remembers,' I laugh in shock and disbelief, 'She called me Pel,' I grin,

Well go on then loverboy, what are you waiting for?' Sam laughs.

I grab my phone and car keys, say bye to the boys and sprint for my car.

I get the the hospital and ask for Kacey High, the lady at reception gives me directions to the ward with her hands and I run off before she's even finished,

'AAAHHHH!' I yell in unbearable pain, I fall down to the floor immediately and roll around in agony. I look down to my stomach and see all this weird stuff coming out of my wound where it had re-opened. A huge crowd forms around me and nurses rush around me to get me into a bed and have me re-admitted,

'I'm fine,' I whine, 'I just need to see- AAHHH!' I yell again,

'Okay sir, we're going to have to rush you into emergency surgery,' I hear one of the nurses tell me, before I can say another word, a surgeon gives me gas through a mask, and that's the last thing I remember...

Kaceys Pov

I sit nervously and wait for Perri, with my mum by my side.

'I can't wait to see him,' I grin to my mum,

'I can tell,' she chuckles.

Two hours go by and I begin to question whether or not He'll come,

'Kace, maybe you should get some rest,'

'No, I know Perri and he would have been here the second I rang him, something's wrong,'

'Don't stress like that, you're tired and your brains overwor-'

'Mum, I know my boyfriend, you should have seen his face when I told him I didn't know who he was, he was heartbroken, and he kept going on about how he couldn't wait for me to get my memory back. He wouldn't miss this for anything,'

Just after I say that, Star walks into the room,

'Hey Star!' I smile, 'I'm actually just waiting for Pe-'

'He's been rushed into emergency surgery kace,'

'What?' I ask in a whisper,

'His wound re-opened and it was badly infected,'

'No!' I shout with tears in my eyes, 'Why,' I cry, 'Why me,' I bury my head into my hands and begin to sob,

'What wound?' I ask, sniffling,

During the accident, something sharp must have fallen on him and it make a really deep wound, but he was too focused on making sure you were safe,'

'He didn't even tell me?'

'He thought you would blame yourself,'

'Where is he now?'

'He's just came out of surgery, but he's-'

'What?'

'He's in a coma,' She sighs, hanging her head down

'I need to see him,'

'Good news,' The nurse walks in, 'We can discharge you,'

'Great do it like now, please,' I beg. She unclips the pegs from my arm and my mum hands me some clean clothes from the suitcase. With me being in that much of a hurry, I literally just drop my nightie and pulled my clothes on, I run down to the critical ward and I see he's in the same room as I was in,

'Woah woah, who are you,' The nurse sticks her arm out, taking away my access of the door, I'm his girlfriend, I've just got my memory back after the same accident he was in and-'

'It's okay, I know you,' She puts her arm down and I immediately open the door allowing my mum in aswell.

I walk in and see him there, lying in the same bed I was, with needles and drips attached to him, I say a quick hello to Ashley and, Perri's Mum, Christine, who gives her seat up for me which is right next to his bed.

I don't even know what to do, I've never been in this situation before.

I reach for his hand and hold it with both of mine,

'So the tables have turned now hey,' I smile and her Ash and Chris laugh briefly behind me.

'Now I understand how hard it must have been for you, you haven't even lost your memory and even seeing you like this his breaking me,' I shake my head and squint a tear back that's trying to fall down my face. But I've done enough crying,

'You're my rock Pel, you're the person who gets me through these kind of situations, not puts me in them,' I smile,

'I can't cope you being in here Perri, I need you to wake up so we can start that routine, or go shopping for prom,'

I turn round to look at Christine,

'He can hear you sweetheart,' She smiles, I nod and turn back round to see his body,

'See as you know, usually whenever I see you asleep I jump all over you and attack you with pillows, but I wish it was that easy,' I hang my head down and Chris puts her hand on my shoulder,

'I've thought so many times about how awful it would be having to live in his world without you,' My voice breaks, 'And now I have to, and I don't know how long for,'

I can't control them anymore, I'm surprised there's any water left in my body whatsoever but the tears stream down my face and a drop lands on his hand causing me to laugh briefly to myself,

'Sorry,' I chuckle in a whisper, wiping it away, I know that if he were awake he would be laughing and calling me an idiot. It was only something small but even though he's in a coma, that tear on his hand was something only him and I know about, one of our many secret, inside jokes,

'Please Pel,' I whisper in tears, 'I haven't seen you for days and I can't bear to go another one without you,' I stand up and kiss his forehead,

'I love you afro,' I whisper quietly into his ear so no one else could hear, that was our thing.
