Chapter 105 I Slept With Elliot Jason slammed his fist against the wall, drawing concerned glances from passersby. Regaining his composure, he withdrew his hand and adopted an expressionless facade.

After a moment, he calmed down, adjusted his glasses, forced a smile, and reentered the room.

As Corynn quietly sipped her soup, she pondered whether the two men had encountered each other. Jason had been outside for a considerable time. Surely, they hadn’t met, had they?

“Corynn, how does it taste?” Jason inquired.

“It tastes good,” Corynn replied, nodding her approval.

Jason took pride in his culinary skills.

If Corynn enjoyed the meals he prepared, maybe he could capture her heart.

Additionally, unlike Elliot, Jason could openly be with Corynn, which was a significant advantage. Moreover, he had the backing of Corynn’s parents, further bolstering his position.

“Corynn, I’m free in the coming days. Once you’re feeling better, perhaps we could travel abroad for a while. What do you think?”

Jason asked after a pause, looking at her expectantly.

Corynn felt a pang of guilt thinking about her recent encounter with Elliot.

She set down her bowl, hesitated, and finally confessed, “Jason, I really don’t deserve your love.” Surprised, yet maintaining a facade of indifference, Jason asked, “Why would you say that suddenly?” With eyes closed, Corynn revealed, “Jason, do you know why I’m in the hospital? I slept with Elliot.” Jason’s smile remained unchanged as he continued to care for her, saying softly, “Yes, I know.”

“Then why do you still care for me so deeply? I don’t deserve it,” Corynn murmured. Whenever Corynn met Jason’s gaze, she would avert her eyes, burdened by a sense of guilt.

“Jason, perhaps you could consider... someone else.”

Corynn understood that her past with Elliot didn’t bother Jason, but his parents wouldn’t be so accepting. Her repeated entanglements with Elliot made things even more complicated.

Corynn was also aware of the challenges of her situation, particularly the difficulty she faced in conceiving. She didn’t want Jason to face conflicts with his family because of her.

“If I could easily fall for someone else, I would have done so already.” Jason sat back down, his expression earnest. “If you’re uncomfortable, I won’t make it too obvious.”

“There’s someone out there who will love you and whom you can love back. You shouldn’t waste your time on me. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me,” Corynn continued softly.

She knew her words might hurt Jason, but she felt it was crueler to let him hold on to hope for something that would never happen.

Interrupting her, Jason said quietly, “Yes, I understand.”

His previous declarations, made boldly in front of Elliot, now seemed like empty promises.

Elliot was right–Corynn did not love him.

Her repeated encounters with Elliot suggested that she might still have feelings for him, yet Jason found it hard to let go.
