Chapter 32 The Man When Corynn got to the company, she noticed that Lila kept glancing at her repeatedly.

Each time their eyes met, Lila quickly averted her gaze and pretended to be busy.

Though this made Corynn a little confused, she eventually pushed it out of her mind. Settling in for the day, she began to review the new product launch plan from the brand center and, when she was sure that there were no issues, forwarded it to the operations director for execution.

The newest product from Harper Group was set to launch in mid–September, which was just under a week away.

A little while later, someone knocked on her office door. When she looked up, she saw that it was Mr. McCoy.

“I knew from the start that hitching my ride with you was the smartest decision for me to make!” Mr. McCoy said as he entered the room and took a seat.

Not only had Corynn brought his company back to life, but she had also helped him bag a significant profit.

Corynn smiled and replied, “Well, I also made the right choice by cooperating with you. If it weren’t for you, I don’t think I would have won so easily.”

When she finished speaking, Mr. McCoy shared a knowing smile with her.

“Well, then, I’ll just keep my gratitude right here, in my heart,” Mr. McCoy said and thumped his chest thrice.

Appreciative of Mr. McCoy’s straightforwardness, Corynn nodded and said, “I place my trust in you to deliver the work.”

Hearing this, Mr. McCoy’s respect for Corynn grew even more and he couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.

When he arrived at the building earlier, he saw the multitude of reporters that were waiting outside. He wondered which man would be lucky enough to eventually marry such an exceptional woman.

As she was about to return to her office after seeing Mr. McCoy off, Corynn noticed Lila glancing at her again. Unable to stand it anymore, she called Lila and told her to come into her office with her.

“Tell me, Lila, what’s going on? Why have you been glancing at me since I came in? Is there something on my face?” Corynn asked as she sat down.

Under Corynn’s questioning gaze, Lila shifted from leg to leg uncomfortably and looked quite nervous, which was strange as she usually looked composed.

“Well...” Lila muttered and pursed her lips, clearly unwilling to continue.

Finding Lila’s behavior to be somewhat amusing, Corynn rolled her eyes and said, “Come on, say something.

12.10 After a moment of hesitation, Lila swallowed hard and said, “That night of the celebration party, you were quite heavily drunk. A man came to the hotel and claimed to be your boyfriend...”

Corynn frowned slightly and asked, “So you just let him take me away?”

What the hell had Lila been thinking?! How could Lila just accept the word of mouth of a stranger who claimed to be her boyfriend and hand her over to him just like that?

Seeing that Corynn wasn’t impressed, Lila quickly explained, “You also described him as your boyfriend, so i felt there was no harm in letting him take you back to your room.”

Corynn couldn’t believe her ears.

That man had laid her on a bed, done what he wanted to do with her, and then vanished without a trace Recalling something, Lila hesitated for a moment, then said, “Ms. Harper, you don’t recollect what happened, right?”

Corynn glared at her and retorted, “Do you think I do?”

When she had woken up on that bed, she had rushed out in fear. She doubted whether she had gone to the wrong room. It turned out that Lila had actually been the one to personally hand her over to a stranger!

“Nothing occurred between both of you, right?” Lila asked cautiously.

Judging Elliot by the little she knew about him, Lila didn’t believe that he would take advantage of Corynn in any way, especially since he had proclaimed himself to be her boyfriend. There was no reason for him to lie, right?

Shaking her head, Corynn took in a deep breath and gave her temples a massage.

Lila was someone she had always regarded as being reliable. Having her mess up this way disappointed Corynn to no end.

Noticing that Corynn looked very upset, Lila couldn’t help but wonder if her suspicions were right. Did Corynn and Elliot...

At that moment, Lila’s excitement went through the roof, like that of someone who had just discovered a new romantic development.

“So, what was the name of this so–called ‘boyfriend“?” Corynn asked as she took a sip of water, determined not to lash out.

Lila replied, “I had no idea at first, but I was very sure that I had seen him somewhere. It wasn’t until I saw him on TV later on that I connected the dots and...”

“Just get to the point,” Corynn interrupted with a grunt.

Lila swallowed hard and said, “The man is the head of the Andrews Group.”

Corynn frowned slightly when she heard this.

Lila pursed her lips for a moment, then added, “Elliot Andrews.”
