Chapter 37 Lovestruck CEO Throughout the meeting, Elliot was visibly distracted, his thoughts repeatedly drifting back to Corynn.

What was she up to now? Had she eaten lunch yet? Was she getting enough rest? Questions about Corynn kept swirling in his mind.

In a daze, Elliot subconsciously searched for his phone and looked for Corynn’s picture.

After a few swipes, his gaze landed on her pretty face, bright and resolute, exuding an aura of maturity and confidence. This Corynn was dazzling–far more radiant than the old Corynn, making it hard for Elliot to ignore her.

As Elliot, absentmindedly traced the contours of Corynn’s face in the photo with his thumb, his usually steely expression softened into one of affection.

Just then, the person presenting during the meeting suddenly looked up and saw the doting look on Elliot’s face. He gulped, feeling a chill run down his spine.

What the hell was going on? Elliot had never shown a soft side to him before!

The man’s eyes darted around the meeting room, only to see that his colleagues also looked as though they had seen a ghost.

Was Elliot so distracted because of his fiancee, Amanda?

But they quickly dismissed the thought; after all, although Elliot always respected Amanda, he had never shown such a tender expression to her before.

However, the look on Elliot’s face now seemed almost... lovesick.

Could it be that he had actually fallen in love with someone? But who?

Elliot soon noticed that the meeting had gone oddly quiet. He looked up and saw the odd looks on everyone’s faces, his expression instantly turning frosty. “Are you done reporting?”

Everyone immediately snapped back to attention, burying their curiosity for the time being.

As soon as the meeting ended, Elliot was the first to leave. The others exchanged puzzled glances but dared not discuss it openly.

With knowing looks and raised eyebrows, they all reached a silent consensus–that Elliot must be in love!

As soon as Elliot returned to his office, his phone rang.

His heart skipped a beat, but when he saw who was calling, his expression darkened.

“Elliot, you and Amanda should visit us,” said Owen, Elliot’s father. Except it wasn’t an invitation—it was an order.

Owen sneered, “Do you think I don’t know whether or not you’re busy?”

Elliot pursed his lips irritably.

Without waiting for a response, Owen continued, “Lately, that woman–Corynn, was it?-has been too much in the spotlight. Amanda must be feeling upset. You’d better comfort her, do you hear me?”

Elliot scoffed. “If you care so much about her feelings, why don’t you go comfort her yourself?”

Then he ended the call before Owen could reply.

Elliot had little fondness for his family, especially his so–called father.

However, after giving it some thought, he eventually ordered Kaden to pick out a few gifts for Amanda.

Owen tightened his grip around the phone, his expression grim.

That ungrateful bastard of a son!

He immediately redialed Elliot’s number, only to be met with a busy dial tone; it turned out that Elliot had turned off his phone.

Furious, he took several deep breaths before calling Amanda instead.

The call connected soon. “Owen, what’s wrong?”

“Amanda, I saw the news. Don’t let it bother you, okay? You’re Elliot’s future wife, and that girl can’t hold a candle to you,” Owen assured Amanda.

Amanda acknowledged his words with a soft, “Okay.”

Owen continued, “Our family chose you, not her. No matter how impressive Corynn is, she’s nothing compared to you. Just be patient; Elliot will marry you soon!”

Amanda bit her lip hesitantly. “Owen, Elliot and I have been engaged for three years...”

The photo she had found on Elliot’s computer had unsettled her deeply. Despite several attempts to exile Corynn, she realized that the only way she could secure her position was by marrying Elliot as soon as possible.

“Yes, yes, it’s high time you two got married. I’ll come by tomorrow to discuss an auspicious date,” Owen agreed, still puzzled as to why Elliot kept delaying the wedding.

Finally, a smile tugged at the corner’s of Amanda’s previously pursed lips.

With Owen’s involvement, Elliot would have no choice but to agree.

Owen added, “Amanda, you need to be more proactive. What man doesn’t like a forward woman? If you two had a baby soon, it’d definitely speed things up.”

Amanda was at a loss for words.

She had been “proactive” with Elliot more than once, but aside from the one time she was able to hold his hand, the man didn’t seem to want to touch her.

She had even stood naked in front of Elliot once, yet the latter left without sparing her so much as a glance.

What could she do? She couldn’t admit to Owen that Elliot had no interest in her!

Forcing a smile, Amanda replied tersely, “I see.”
