Chapter 52
Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love
Chapter 52 Confronting The Prime Suspect On his way to the Willis Mansion, Jason ran into the last person he wanted to seeâFilice âLooks like you also figured out it was her,â Jason remarked, his voice dripping with sarcom Elliot said nothing. While Kaden hadnât reported back yet, he had a sinking suspicion that Amanda wa somehow involved in Corynnâs matter.
âHow many times are you going to put her in harmâs way, Elliot? Jason kissed icily. All you do is bring her pain!â
Elliot finally looked at Jason and acknowledged his presence by retorting, âAnd you, you werenât able to protect her either. So much for your soâcalled âaffectionââ
As expected, Jasonâs expression darkened. Elliot had hit a sore spot.
Indeed, he cared deeply for Corynn, but he had failed yet again to protect her. The guilt gnawed at tim endlessly.
âAt least I donât have an evil fiancee who keeps trying to hurt her,â Jason clapped back with a cold sort âSo, youâre worse than me,â he thought, deciding not to voice this last part.
Elliot pursed his lips and said icily, âI had no idea sheâd do something like this.â
âWho cares if you knew or didnât? The damage has been done,â Jason shot back.
The two lapsed into silence to prevent a fullâon fight from breaking out. One after the other, they entered the Willis Mansion wearing gloomy expressions.
Amanda, excited to hear that Elliot had arrived, rushed to the doorâonly to see Jason standing beside Ellicc Her smile vanished instantly and was replaced by a look of displeasure. âYouâre here to confront me about Corynn, arenât you? Well, you can leave. I didnât do it,â she declared loftily.
Jason stepped forward, his tone stern. âMiss Willis, I canât think of anyone else in all of Orelens who would want her dead. Youâre the only one whoâs been persistently targeting her since she came back.â
Amanda scoffed. âJust because Iâve âtargetedâ her doesnât mean I tried to kill her. Thatâs ridiculous logic Besides, you canât go around accusing people without any proof.â
Turning to Elliot, eyes filled with hurt, she squeezed out a tear and asked pitifully, âDo you think I did it, too?â
âYes.â A single word from Elliotâs mouth was enough to send her reeling, Eyes wide as saucers, Amanda cried, âI didnât do it! I swear it wasnât me!â

âYou tried to destroy her company twice and failed both times. The utter bumiliation mustâve driven you to resort to murderâin a word, you have motive,â he added, his tone devoid of emotion.
Amanda clutched the sides of her dress, struggling to breathe, her reddened eyes fixed on file âIâm the only one targeting her, wouldnât I be the first suspect if anything happened to her? Do you really then Iâm th stupid?â Genuine tears streamed down her face freely now Nothing pained her more than Elliotâs obvious distrust.
The sadness in Amandaâs eyes was undeniable, yet Elliot remained cold and unmoving This time, Jason spoke up. âMiss Willis, whether youâre behind this or not, if anything happens to Coryna appen, Iâll hold you responsible.â
For the first time, the two men stood united in their stance.
Amanda turned to Jason, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. âCorynn sure is lucky with men,â she remarked bitterly.
âFirst my fiance, then now, Jason. She clings to one while still entangled with the other. 1 truly pity you.â
âCorynnâs not like that,â they both said in unison.
Amandaâs bitter smile widened, and unable to stand it any longer, she ran upstairs, her face buried in her hands.
Amandaâs father, Jeremy Willis, learned of the situation and rushed downstairs. His expression was dark as he glared at the two men standing in his vestibule.
âElliot, Amanda is your fiancee. How dare you accuse her of something as grave as attempted murder?â Jeremy demanded sternly.
Devoid of emotion, Elliot faced Jeremy and replied without skipping a beat, âI was just askingâ
However, his indifferent attitude only served to further enrage Jeremy.
