Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love

Chapter 52 Confronting The Prime Suspect On his way to the Willis Mansion, Jason ran into the last person he wanted to see–Filice “Looks like you also figured out it was her,” Jason remarked, his voice dripping with sarcom Elliot said nothing. While Kaden hadn’t reported back yet, he had a sinking suspicion that Amanda wa somehow involved in Corynn’s matter.

“How many times are you going to put her in harm’s way, Elliot? Jason kissed icily. All you do is bring her pain!”

Elliot finally looked at Jason and acknowledged his presence by retorting, “And you, you weren’t able to protect her either. So much for your so–called ‘affection“”

As expected, Jason’s expression darkened. Elliot had hit a sore spot.

Indeed, he cared deeply for Corynn, but he had failed yet again to protect her. The guilt gnawed at tim endlessly.

“At least I don’t have an evil fiancee who keeps trying to hurt her,” Jason clapped back with a cold sort “So, you’re worse than me,” he thought, deciding not to voice this last part.

Elliot pursed his lips and said icily, “I had no idea she’d do something like this.”

“Who cares if you knew or didn’t? The damage has been done,” Jason shot back.

The two lapsed into silence to prevent a full–on fight from breaking out. One after the other, they entered the Willis Mansion wearing gloomy expressions.

Amanda, excited to hear that Elliot had arrived, rushed to the door–only to see Jason standing beside Ellicc Her smile vanished instantly and was replaced by a look of displeasure. “You’re here to confront me about Corynn, aren’t you? Well, you can leave. I didn’t do it,” she declared loftily.

Jason stepped forward, his tone stern. “Miss Willis, I can’t think of anyone else in all of Orelens who would want her dead. You’re the only one who’s been persistently targeting her since she came back.”

Amanda scoffed. “Just because I’ve ‘targeted‘ her doesn’t mean I tried to kill her. That’s ridiculous logic Besides, you can’t go around accusing people without any proof.”

Turning to Elliot, eyes filled with hurt, she squeezed out a tear and asked pitifully, “Do you think I did it, too?”

“Yes.” A single word from Elliot’s mouth was enough to send her reeling, Eyes wide as saucers, Amanda cried, “I didn’t do it! I swear it wasn’t me!”

“You tried to destroy her company twice and failed both times. The utter bumiliation must’ve driven you to resort to murder–in a word, you have motive,” he added, his tone devoid of emotion.

Amanda clutched the sides of her dress, struggling to breathe, her reddened eyes fixed on file “I’m the only one targeting her, wouldn’t I be the first suspect if anything happened to her? Do you really then I’m th stupid?” Genuine tears streamed down her face freely now Nothing pained her more than Elliot’s obvious distrust.

The sadness in Amanda’s eyes was undeniable, yet Elliot remained cold and unmoving This time, Jason spoke up. “Miss Willis, whether you’re behind this or not, if anything happens to Coryna appen, I’ll hold you responsible.”

For the first time, the two men stood united in their stance.

Amanda turned to Jason, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. “Corynn sure is lucky with men,” she remarked bitterly.

“First my fiance, then now, Jason. She clings to one while still entangled with the other. 1 truly pity you.”

“Corynn’s not like that,” they both said in unison.

Amanda’s bitter smile widened, and unable to stand it any longer, she ran upstairs, her face buried in her hands.

Amanda’s father, Jeremy Willis, learned of the situation and rushed downstairs. His expression was dark as he glared at the two men standing in his vestibule.

“Elliot, Amanda is your fiancee. How dare you accuse her of something as grave as attempted murder?” Jeremy demanded sternly.

Devoid of emotion, Elliot faced Jeremy and replied without skipping a beat, “I was just asking”

However, his indifferent attitude only served to further enrage Jeremy.
