Chapter 54
Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love
Chapter 54 Sheâs Awake!
While in a coma, Corynn suffered from a seemingly neverâending nightmare. She dreamed that just as she was finally about to escape the fire, a sudden burst of flames engulfed her the next moment.
She jolted awake, covered in cold sweat. She had sat up so abruptly that she aggravated her wounds, gasping in pain.
âOh, my God! Youâre finally awake! You scared me half to death!â Shirley, sitting beside Corynnâs bed, woke up with a start, tears brimming in her eyes as she looked at Corynn.
Still shaken by the dream, Corynnâs eyes also welled up with tears as soon as she heard Shirleyâs voice.
She was alive! She had survived!
âMom...â she whimpered.
âYes, honey, Iâm here.â Shirley gently wiped Corynnâs tears away with her thumb and smiled. âIâm so glad that youâre awake.â
Eager to spread the good news, Shirley hurriedly made some calls to Erick and Jason.
One silver lining of this whole ordeal was that it gave birth to a great opportunity for Jason to get closer to Corynn.
Minutes later, Erick and Jason came rushing in.
Seeing Jason, Corynn glanced at Shirley questioningly, who only smiled at her in response. After Corynn had eaten, Shirley and Erick left to give Jason and Corynn some room.
Jason picked up a juicyâlooking apple and sat down by the edge of Corynnâs bed, peeling it as he spoke. âCorynn, that day at the airport...â
His voice trailed off falteringly, as he wasnât sure if Corynn was ready to recall what had happened.
Corynn shivered at the traumatic memory of the car accident and the events that followed. She was still reeling in fear from everything that transpired.
âMy tire suddenly blew out that day, and then a group of men started searching for me. At first, I thought th were there to help, but then...â
Jason noticed that Corynnâs knuckles had turned white from gripping the blanket too tightly. He handed her the apple, his voice gentle. âCorynn, itâs alright. Iâm here now.â
In that moment, he swore to himself that heâd always protect her.
âThanks.â Corynn nodded perfunctorily and then continued recounting the events of that day.
Jason also shared what he had learned from his own investigation. âBased on the info Iâve gathered, those people were prepared. They tracked you down and then planted nails on your route home, causing your tire to 12:14 <

blow out...â With every word Jason spoke, his expression grew increasingly grim.
âDid you catch them?â Corynn would never forget the man named âCobyâ.
Jason shook his head with a sigh. âThey fled abroad soon after the incident. According to the police, theyâre a notorious crime syndicate with a lot of blood on their hands.â
Corynn had expected that much. Still, she smiled bitterly.
âWhen the accident happened,â Jason continued hesitantly, watching Corynnâs reaction carefully, âElliot showed up. When I confronted the Willis family, he was there, too. We both suspected Amanda.â
Seeing that Corynn seemed unfazed, Jason felt somewhat relieved.
âI suspect it was her, too,â Corynn said simply.
She couldnât think of anyone else who might want to harm her.
âElliot and I confronted her at the same time, but she denied having anything to do with it.â That day, Amanda didnât look like she was lying, but Jason refused to rule her out. He had someone investigate her, but it had been fruitless.
Corynn mulled over Jasonâs words for a moment before finally voicing her suspicion. âCould she have contacted them through someone else?â
âI considered that, but I really couldnât find a solid connection between Amanda and those thugs,â Jason said with a shrug.
The task was posted on the dark web by someone with the code name QH. Unfortunately, he couldnât trace that personâs IP address.
