Chapter 99 Applying Medicine To Her Wound Not daring to inform her parents about her hospitalization, Corynn simply told them that she needed to handle some things and would be absent from home for a couple of days.

As she lay on the hospital bed, a sharp and burning pain surged through her body anytime she moved.

Every few seconds, she couldn’t help but mutter a curse at Elliot. He had been so inconsiderate, the even needed someone’s help just to take a pee.

And since Jason was a man, he couldn’t help her in this regard.

When the nurse was summoned, Corynn quickly noticed a hint of annoyance in her eyes, causing her to feel quite embarrassed.

Mistaking Jason for her boyfriend, the nurse kept throwing daggers at him with her eyes, clearly unpleased with him.

After leading Corynn to the bathroom, the nurse whispered to her that the man that she had chosen was an inconsiderate individual who was definitely up to no good. After all, if Jason cared about her health in any way, he wouldn’t have caused her to be hospitalized.

Corynn tried to explain that Jason was innocent, but the nurse, believing that she simply wanted to defend her lover, had none of it, which left her powerless.

For something that was Elliot’s fault, it wasn’t right that Jason was taking the blame.

Swallowing hard, Corynn pursed her lips and apologized to Jason in her heart.

Every single step she took felt like she was walking on broken shards of glass, sending wave after wave of pain through her body.

When Jason finally left in the evening, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

Still in bed, Corynn couldn’t fall asleep no matter how much she tried and she simply kept turning her phone over in her hands.

Over and over again, she kept replaying the conversation she had with Jason.

Amanda’s actions were becoming more vicious each time she targeted Corynn. Clearly, as long as Elliot loved her, Amanda would keep on doing everything she could to hurt her.

Shaking her head, she couldn’t believe that she thought Amanda would become less hostile if she made Jason her boyfriend.

She ought to be well aware of just how much of an unreasonable individual Amanda was.

With a soft sigh, she closed her eyes and shook her head again.

When she saw him, she quickly closed her eyes and pretended to still be asleep.

After entering the ward, Elliot locked the door behind him and walked over to her bed.

As his footsteps got closer, Corynn’s body tensed and her heartbeat increased.

When Elliot finally stopped close to her, she couldn’t see what he was doing as her eyes were closed, but she could clearly hear the sound of a paper bag being opened.

Then, she felt the cool air on her skin as Elliot lifted the quilt.

Her heartbeat spiked at what she believed he was about to do.

He was going to have sex with her here! He Pght to know that her body couldn’t handle such activity now!

But then, the next second, she felt Elliot’s hands gently resting on her calf, on the part where she still had burn scars.

What on earth was Elliot up to?

Only when she felt the unmistakable coolness of an ointment did she realize that Elliot was applying medicine to her scars.

Remembering how Elliot had taken her into an alley and offered a scar–removing ointment on the day of Jason’s confession, she couldn’t help but swallow.

Try as she might, she couldn’t stop her eyelashes from trembling.

By massaging her calf as gently as he could, Elliot was able to get the ointment to be absorbed quite quickly, causing Corynn’s leg to grow warm.

A feeling that she found quite soothing.

“I know you aren’t asleep, Corynn,” Elliot suddenly said. This sudden announcement startled her and caused her to jump slightly.

How on earth did Elliot find out that she was simply acting?!

Still, she didn’t open her eyes and kept on pretending to be asleep.

“I saw you closing your eyes when I came in,” Elliot added.

Realizing that it was useless to keep up with the pretense, Corynn slowly opened her eyes and turned her head away from him, refusing to meet his eyes.

“Why are you here?” she demanded emotionlessly.
