Chapter 29

chapter 29

Bought By A Mafia

Alex was about to drop the call when he saw Laura staring at him pleadingly. He is well aware of the fact that Sandra Mason is talking about the same Sandra who is Laura's sister."Give me a moment, I'll call you back." He dropped the call and looked at Laura with obvious anger cause he knows what is running in that brain of hers."What? Don't tell me you want to talk to Mason" he raised his eyebrows."No, not Mason, I just wanted to know. the Sandra you are talking to." Mason shook his head in disapproval."You won't be talking to any member of your crazy family." Dexter coughed to get his attention, and they both communicate with their eyes. They excused themselves and went to the sitting room. "What?" He asked looking frustrated."Don't you think it will be good to bring her here?" Dexter said with a knowing smile on his handsome face. "Just imagine what will happen when Laura sees the thing we have, she will be the one to kick her out after beating her to a pulp."Alex smiled loving the idea, he wants to see Laura being strong and not her being all weak and kind. They both returned to the dining table, Alex called Mason and gave the phone to Laura to talk to her ' sister'."Laura" she heard her sister's tired and dry voice from the other end of the phone."Sandra are you okay? I heard what happened to mom and I am sorry" she left the dining room to the sitting room not wanting to disturb everyone seeing as Kimberly had stopped eating and was staring at her."I am not fine, I am all alone Laura. Let me use this opportunity to apologize, I am sorry for everything I have done, I know I have been a terrible sister to you, I am sorry" she sobbed"It is all in the past. Where are you? I heard the house and company we're given to someone.""I am with Mr. Mason.""How did you know Mason?" She asked"He saw me walking aimlessly on the street and decided to help me. He is a kind man.""Yes, he is.""Mom will be buried this Saturday, will you be there? Please don't say no, I know she has been awful but please be there" Laura looked at Alex who was busily eating and acting like he wasn't hearing her conversation."I will try my best to be there, news about me being a slave to Alexander Quinn is not new to you, so you should know how hard it will be." She sniffed. After talking to her sister and consoling her, she dropped the call and gave Alex his phone, dried her tears, and ate her breakfast."What were you saying about you being a slave?" Alex asked. They were done with breakfast and were laying on the bed."I was just saying the truth, I am your slave," she said with a lot of bravery"Do you want to attend yourstepmother's burial?" He changed the topic."Yes please," she looked at him with hopeful eyes.Alex gave a gentle kiss on her forehead before nodding. "But," he said popping the bubbles which had formed at the top of her head."I will be going with you. Do you agree?" She nodded her head.Days flew like a gust of wind carrying dust and papers from place to place. It was the day of the burial, everyone was dressed in black, Laura stood beside Sandra while Kimberly, Alex, Mason, and Dexter stood behind. The priest said his prayer and laid her, Laura and Sandra held each other and cried watching their mother's casket going under the ground."Thank you for being here, it means a lot to me," Sandra said to Laura. They stood facing each other."It's 's nothing, she was also my mother so it was my obligation to be there on her last day." Mason took the opportunity to talk to Laura not minding Alex standing there with his daughter."Laura, how are you doing? Do you still remember me?" He asked with a charming smile, showing off his pearly white teeth."Of course, I do Mr. Campbell." She shook hands with him, smiling wide."Please, just Mason, I hope I didn't get you into trouble that day, I was just trying to help, you know being in a party filled with dangerous people all alone and drunk, is not a good idea." He said trying to paint Alex as a bad man who couldn't take care of his woman."Nothing I couldn't handle" she laughed."That's nice, it is good to see you again." Laura kept smiling at Mason not knowing  that a father and his daughter were fuming."About your sister...""She will be coming with me, any family member of hers is mine" he gave Sandra a charming smile"That's settled then, my driver will bring her things to your place" Sandra followed them home, she looked like a wet puppy following its master wherever she went.Mason smiled when he got to his house, he sent her things to Alex's house and took a bottle of whiskey to celebrate his plan on the motion. When they got home, Alex took Laura to the room, he looked really angry. "It seems like taking you out of the house is a bad idea." Laura looked at him innocently."You didn't only talk to another man, you smiled at him." Laura took a couple of steps back to create a great amount of space between them."I was returning his words, I smiled because he was friendly" she muttered"Say, let's see. How many times have you smiled at me? How many times have you laughed, joked, and spoken freely with me?" He asked. Laura has never seen him like this, acting jealous and possessive."Mas.. ahh Alex, I" she stuttered not knowing what to say.
