Chapter 1
Beware of the Villainess!
The Elegant Daily Life of A Villainess
7:30 a.m.
I, Melissa Podebrat, daughter of Duke Podebrat, wake up by the sound of the birds chirping outside my window. The maid knocked on my door and I said, âCome in.â When she enters, I was still lying on my bed. She prepares a luxurious bath for me in the bathroom.
8:00 a.m.
I come out of the bathroom to dry my hair. After Iâm clean, I put on a simple outfit and leave my room for breakfast.
The Duke of Podebrat said, âBreakfast must be eaten with the family.â This is not because we have a strong relationship with each other, but it is merely to report our survival to each other even when weâre home. This is an old method of parenting.
When I enter the elegant dining room, I see hot soup, crispy cake, steak, scrambled eggs, and other delicious food on the gorgeous long dining table.
âYouâre late, Melissa.â
âIâm always late.â
The middle-aged man who is glaring at me the moment I enter the dining room is my father. He is a Duke and an official envoy of the imperial crown. I inherited my lion-like features from him.
I smile gently and eat breakfast with the Duke. Looking around, I see that only Duke and I are present for breakfast.
âWhere is your white-haired friend that shares the same blood as me? Did his luck run and finally died?â
âIf youâre talking about Jake, then heâs out again. He has someone he needs to protect.â
âHaha. Heâs an energetic child. It seems that he has forgotten where his home is. Remove him from the Podebrat estate if he ever returns.â
Jake Podebrat. He is my younger brother in this world and he is extremely troublesome.
I grab a piece of white bread from the breadbasket and stuff it into my mouth. In spite of my crude actions, I still feel very elegant.
âHe is my sole heir.â
I watch the Duke as he carefully cuts the bread into small pieces with a knife and then eats it with a fork.
I respond carefully, âAm I not a Pedeobrat? Canât I inherit your title too? I only came here because I was afraid that the Duke would feel lonely eating alone.â
âYouâre a womanâ¦â
âIf the Duke and Jake both disappear, then I can inherit your title even if Iâm a woman. Since it seems like the Duke doesnât feel lonely, I should just leave.â
I smile and gently put down the bread in my hand. I bow gracefully at him before leaving. The Duke has an astonished expression on his face when I turn to leave, but that doesnât matter to me.
Haha, I will talk to that ice-block later.
10:00 a.m.
I sit in front of a luxurious mahogany desk, with an expensive fountain pen and a piece of scented paper in front of me. Today, I want to write a âloveâ letter that is full of âsincerityâ.
ãMy beloved Princeâ¦ã
