FOR ONCE IN A long time, the Mikaelson siblings were shocked. Never had they imagined something like this would happen. They had lost their sister over a thousand years ago and they just got her back. Their innocent, bright, and youngest sister at the age of thirteen was back in their lives once more. But this person that sat on the couch in the Mansion couldn't be their sister. It just wasn't possible.
Athena had an empty glass of blood in her hands and her siblings stood in front of her. They stared and she pretended not to notice. It was like hundreds of blazing hot knives were being stuck in her head.
"Would you guys please stop staring?" she asked.
They all jumped up in surprise and Athena sighed, knowing it was because of her voice. Her voice was much more mature and didn't sound child-like anymore. On top of that, her brown hair had grown longer and wavier, the clothes she previously wore no longer fit her, her legs had become longer, and her face had shaped to be more adult-like. But, despite her appearance being completely different, her personality was still the same.
However, the Mikaelsons had to face the truth; this person that sat in front of them was their baby sister. Athena before could easily pass as a thirteen or fourteen-year-old. But now? Now she could easily pass as an eighteen-year-old; maybe even a nineteen-year-old if she got lucky.
"Is it really you?" Kol asked.
Athena looked up at them with her blue eyes. She smiled slightly. "Yeah. It's really me."
"How do we know it isn't another one of mother's tricks?" Rebekah questioned, gesturing toward her.
"It's not."
Rebekah looked at her with narrowed eyes. She walked forward and snatched the empty glass. "Then prove it."
Athena nodded and then thought for a moment before she said, "When we were younger, I caught you sneaking out to see a boy from the village. You made me promise not to tell and I did. You came back the next morning and no one knew you even left."
The boys looked at Rebekah but she wasn't paying attention to them as she barreled toward Athena.
"It really is you!"
Her sister didn't hug back. "Um, yeah, it's me. Now can you please let go? You're suffocating me."
Rebekah let go and wiped a tear that fell from her eye. "What did she do to you?"
Athena was taken aback and it didn't go unnoticed by her siblings. The youngest sibling wasn't angry about what Esther did surprisingly. She felt useless when she looked like nothing but a child. She couldn't do much; she couldn't fight. Now she could. Athena could fight for her family like she'd always wanted to. Plus, now, Athena could go looking for him, just like Esther said.
"You're not mad at her," Klaus realized.
She shook her head. "No, I'm not. Don't you see what this means? We're equal now! You guys don't have to fight for me anymore and I can finally fight for you. I'm not some scared little girl anymore."
They were still all shocked and the first one to come to their sense was Elijah.
"Ok." They all looked at him and his siblings went wide-eyed. "If you are comfortable with how you are now, then we will support you."
Athena cracked a smile. "You make it sound so weird." She got up and hugged him. "Thank you, Elijah."
He hugged back with a smile. They pulled away and Athena looked at the rest of her siblings. It only took a few seconds for the rest of them to hug her. Then, she was stuck in a group hug.
Athena laughed. "Now we can kick ass together!"
"Language!" they scolded.
---
She was way over her head if she thought things were going to get better. A few days had passed since the "aging" incident and Athena had spent the entire time with her family. So, evidently, no one besides them knew what happened to her. But over the days, everything fell apart. Klaus was starting to get antsy, knowing that Esther and Finn were out there somewhere just waiting to kill them. Kol was getting bored, Rebekah was ready to kill and torture Elena, and Elijah was brooding.
For some odd reason, her older and noble brother hated himself for what he did to Elena and the Salvatores. Even if Athena tried to convince him otherwise, he wouldn't budge.
All of this ended with Kol telling Athena goodbye (he offered to take her with him but she declined) and leaving town. Elijah had left so the only ones who stayed were Rebekah and Klaus. The two remaining siblings in town had stayed with Athena at the Mansion and came to a startling discovery.
There was still some White Oak out there. And this could kill them all.
Rebekah had taken the opportunity to find out if there was really any White Oak left. Athena had suggested a sapling so her sister took that lead. So Rebekah had gone out to look for evidence while Athena and Klaus stayed at the Mansion.
Come to find out that there was White Oak left. But luckily Rebekah had destroyed the source which she said was the Wickery Bridge.
Klaus had become even antsier so he, Athena, and Rebekah had tracked Finn down and were on their way to meet up with him. It was some random city so Athena hadn't bothered to wonder what the name was.
Athena followed her brother as they wandered the streets for Finn. Eventually, she caught sight of him and nodded to Klaus who had also seen him. Klaus smirked and approached Finn.
"Hello, Finn."
Finn looked over at him and rolled his eyes before turning his attention back in front of him. "Hello, Niklaus. I have nothing to say to you."
Athena appeared on his other side with an identical smirk. "What about me, Finn?"
He looked over at her and looked confused before he realized who it was. "Athena. It seems as though mother's spell worked."
"Hmm, yeah. Well anyway, we're not here to chat. Where's mother?"
People passed by and if they heard their conversation, they didn't show it. Athena couldn't possibly think of what they would think if they did.
"Gone to find another way to end our abominable lives. And when she does, I will sacrifice myself all over again."
Athena rolled her eyes but Klaus continued to smirk. She didn't like that he was so willing to sacrifice himself. Even if he truly did hate what they had become, why would he risk his siblings' lives?
"Well, how fortunate that we found you, we require your assistance," Klaus explained.
"I have no wish to help you. Only to see you dead."
His sister simply laughed. "That's an issue because if he does, you'll die and then you'll miss him dying. Sorry, big bro."
Finn didn't look over at her as they crossed a road. "You're really going to take their side, sister? The reason mother aged you was so you can go and find your fellow Nyx friend. Helping our siblings is a lost cause."
Athena's smile turned into a scowl. She shook her head and looked ahead of her. She couldn't believe him, she really couldn't. Finn blindly took Esther's side without question, forgetting that she put them in this mess in the first place. Though things did happen for a reason, it still wasn't right in her mind. Athena didn't want to lose one of her siblings; it wasn't an option.
"Come on, Finn," Klaus smirked. "We have a witch there who can help undo Esther's spell that linked us together."
Finn stopped when they crossed the road and to the sidewalk. Athena and Klaus stood in front of him as Finn said, "I have no wish to be unlinked."
He went to walk away but Athena put her hand on his chest to keep him from leaving. "Please Finn. I don't want to lose any of you. If you all die I'll be alone, and going to find my "fellow Nyx friend" would mean nothing to me. I can't function without any of you."
Finn removed her hand from his chest and walked off. Athena gaped in shock and Klaus became angry. Before they could run after him, Finn sped off down an alleyway but Rebekah (just as planned) was there and blocked his path. He took a step back and Rebekah shook her head at him.
"Let's not make this any worse than it has to be, darling brother."
"You're siding with him?" Finn hissed. "Rebekah, he stored us in boxes."
She narrowed her eyes at him. "At least he's not trying to make us extinct and leave our sister alone for all eternity."
Finn turned around and saw Klaus with Athena. The youngest sibling had covered up her sadness and settled for an emotionless mask. Klaus, on the other hand, was fuming. He despised the thought of his youngest sister being all alone while the rest of them were dead. They were barely able to function without her! And Kol was a huge example of what happened to the Mikaelson siblings when their little sister was gone
"What are you gonna do? Kill me?" Finn challenged.
"Oh yeah, that's right, you've got a death wish," Klaus remembered with a glare. "Fine, pathetic, but fine. The thing is, I'm not gonna let you take the rest of us down with you."
Finn went to flash away but Klaus was faster and threw Finn against the wall. He crumpled to the ground and Klaus smirked. Athena looked at Rebekah and then turned her head away.
---
After Finn was reunited with Sage, Athena had taken a glance over at Klaus who was texting someone on his phone. That person ended up being Kol. The younger hybrid was confused but then realized that Kol leaving had a purpose.
Her siblings were trying to get her away from the problem.
This made her angry. So when Rebekah brought Damon to torture him, Athena had decided to act like she didn't know what her siblings were up to. She was going to find a way to involve herself, she just didn't know how or when.
Damon's groans of pain were heard through the mansion and Bonnie was in the other room, being threatened by Klaus which Athena wasn't happy about. Bonnie was a part of her pack still.
She was fed up with waiting and Athena wanted some fun. When she entered, she saw Damon chained up with bear traps around his wrists. Blood covered his chest and neck and Athena couldn't help but smirk at the sight.
"Maybe you should cut off an arm."
Rebekah turned to her, still holding the bloody knife and Damon raised his head as much as he could. Her sister looked angry that she had walked in and seen this while Damon simply just groaned again.
"Who the hell are you?" he questioned.
Rebekah put the knife down and went over to Athena. "Go back in the living room, darling. I'll be there soon."
Athena scoffed. "I'm not a little baby anymore Rebekah; I want some fun too." She walked past her and toward Damon. "After all, he was ready to sacrifice me to save his precious Elena."
Damon raised his head again and then made a noise of irritation. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the baby Mikaelson. Seems like mommy-"
He didn't even get to finish his sentence before Athena flashed to the knife and stabbed him in the stomach. Her hybrid eyes shone and her fangs appeared, followed by her veins.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Were you saying something?" She twisted the knife making him clenched his teeth to suppress a painful yell. "I can't hear anything else but you're failures to get the doppel-thing to like you."
Athena pulled the knife out slowly and then smirked. She turned around and handed it to Rebekah who was watching proudly. The hybrid smiled and then exited the room.
Not only was her sister proud, Athena was proud of herself. She had done something to prove that she was strong, the little girl that was stuck in a coffin for thousand years was gone. And now she was ready to protect her family.
Athena entered the living room where Bonnie and Klaus were having a stare down. Klaus moved toward the witch and Athena's instincts took over. Quickly flashing over to her brother, Athena pushed him back and stood in front of Bonnie.
"You promised not to hurt her, Nik."
Klaus recovered and then sighed. "Well she's not going to give me what I want otherwise now is she?"
Bonnie gaped in shock and stared at Athena turned around to face her. The Bennett knew who is immediately and gasped. "Athena?"
The teenage girl smiled. "Hey, Bonnie. I know it's a lot to ask but please, unlink my siblings."
It was silent as Bonnie thought and Klaus knew that his sister had convinced her. Bonnie looked at Klaus and then back at Athena. She nodded. "Ok."
---
Bonnie had set up a small table with candles and Klaus had grabbed a case, opening it to reveal four bottles of blood. He listed them off and then bit his hand, holding it in a fist and then letting it drip into a glass.
The witch seemed hesitant but she knew it would be wrong to Athena. She had been alone for so long and all she wanted was her family. Bonnie didn't like the other Mikaelson siblings for their violent tendencies but they were still Athena's family.
So she began the spell by pouring all of the blood into one cup and then pouring it onto the table of candles as she chanted. Klaus and Athena watched on, standing next to one another.
"This will work, right?" Athena asked Klaus.
He nodded. "I hope so."
Bonnie continued the spell and then the blood dispersed into five different circles. The candles flared up and the chanted went on. Athena watched as their blood separated and completely moved away from one another. That's when she felt it.
A burning filled her chest and Athena fell to the ground, screaming in agony. Bonnie's spell completed and the candles went out. Klaus fell next to his sister, holding her as she screamed.
"Athena! Athena, what's wrong!" Bonnie went wide-eyed and Klaus snapped his head toward her. "What did you do?!"
She shook her head. "It's not me, I swear."
Athena felt tears streaming down her cheeks and she screamed even more. Rebekah flashed into the room and fell next to her two siblings.
"What's happening?" she asked in worry.
The younger hybrid started to sob. "Finn. Finn."
Klaus and Rebekah looked at one another in shock. They knew what that meant.
---
Bonnie had left and so the three Mikaelson siblings were left in the mansion with Damon. Athena had taken out her sadness and anger on him as she cut his body until he bled out, only to wake up so she could do it all over again. The tears were gone, not having lasted very long before she turned them into anger.
She was in the middle of stabbing Damon again when Stefan walked in. Athena turned to him, holding the coated knife. The girl smirked.
"Hello, Stefan." His eyebrows furrowed. "Come to save your brother have you?"
Just like Bonnie, it didn't take him long to realize who it was. He nearly dropped the duffel bag in his hands. "Athena."
"The one and only."
Klaus and Rebekah walked in with smirks. The two had taken pride in seeing their little sister standing up for their family. And one thing was for sure, they could get used to Athena being older.
"Oh goody, a hero," Klaus teased. "What is it you could possibly want now?"
Rebekah then glared at Stefan. "Wasn't killing Finn enough?"
Stefan looked confused as to how they knew but then looked at Athena who was glaring as well. He threw the duffel bag to the floor at her feet. "These are the other eight stakes that can kill your family. You hand over Damon in exchange for the weapons."
Athena scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You honestly think that I believe you? Damon may be your brother, but you wouldn't hand over all of the weapons that can kill my family. So, let's put your honesty to test." She turned back to Damon and stroked his cheeks before grabbing his neck and choking him. Damon groaned in pain. "How many stakes are their left besides the one that killed Finn?"
Damon raised his head to look at her. "Eleven."
The hybrid let out an amused laugh and turned to look at Stefan. He sighed and closed his eyes before reopening them to look at her.
"Eleven? Now if memory serves me right, you said there were eight. Eight!"
Rebekah tsked and went to stand by her sister, Klaus following. The two stood on either side of Athena. "You really should've lied, Stefan."
"I'll get you the other three," he told them.
Klaus glared. "Yeah, that'll be nice. Or since you lied, maybe I'll just compel your brother to chew out his own tongue."
Stefan didn't appreciate the threat and then rushed at Klaus, pinning him to the wall with one of the white oak stakes. Athena rushed over to Damon and held one of the other stakes to his chest. "You hurt my brother, yours will die."
The younger Salvatore loosened his grip and then Klaus took the stake from him. Athena kept her place by Damon and kept the stake close to his heart.
"There," Klaus said, holding one of the three other stakes. "Now you only have to get me the other two."
Rebekah sighed and rolled her eyes, turning and going over to Damon. "This is ridiculous." She released him from the trap and took the stake from her sister's hands. "And no more torturing for you, understand?"
Damon fell to the floor and Klaus walked over to the two females. "Rebekah, what are you doing?"
"I brought him here. I get to release him. My rules now." She looked over at Stefan. "Bring us the stakes and you both live. Take your brother as a sign of good faith."
Athena went and picked up the duffel bag and followed Rebekah out of the room. The blonde led her to the parlor and the youngest threw the bag down on the floor. She shook her head. "I'm sorry. I just-"
Rebekah looked at her. "Don't apologize to me." She went over and put her hands on Athena's shoulders. "I'm proud of you. You stood up for our family and fought. But I don't want you killing or torturing to get your anger out, okay? If you ever feel angry, talk to me or Nik or any of us; we're here for you."
Athena sighed and then pushed back the tears. "Finn's dead, Bekah. He's gone because of them. I want them to pay, I want them dead."
Klaus entered the room after he made sure the Salvatores were gone. "He was an embarrassment, sister."
The two snapped their heads to him. Rebekah scoffed in disbelief. "He was still your brother. Mind your tongue."
He didn't look at them as he closed the case of their blood and spoke, "Fine. Let's all say a prayer for Finn, who slept in a box longer than he lived as a man. He was a lovesick fool. He's better off in death."
Athena took a deep breath to conceal her anger and then went over to him. "Is that how you feel? Is that how you would act if Rebekah or I were to die? Elijah? Kol?"
Klaus looked at her to see both of his sisters fighting tears. "No, the two of you are the only ones who understand me. And besides, Rebekah here decided to let the Salvatores brothers loose with two stakes that can kill us. Guess she has a soft spot for them."
Rebekah spoke up from behind Athena. "The Salvatores may fight like dogs, but in the end, they would die for each other. At least they know what family means. You destroyed ours."
Athena wiped a tear that fell and listened as her brother replied, "I wanted a family. They just didn't want me, and now we're unlinked we're no longer responsible for each other."
"So are you leaving then?" Athena questioned.
He tried to cover his sadness and made a thoughtful face. "As soon as I get my stakes, I'm gone. I'm gonna take Elena and use her blood to create a new family. Of hybrids."
"You would choose a bloodline of hybrids over your own family? What're you giving up?" She shook her head. "You're pathetic, Nik. You don't give up on family. I sure as hell didn't."
Klaus turned his head so he couldn't see her walk out. Rebekah stayed for a moment before following after her.
"Athena!" she called out.
The girl stopped and then turned to her sister. "All I wanted was our family back. But it turns out that fantasy is just going to stay a fantasy. I'm leaving in the morning and I'm going to look for some werewolves."
Rebekah looked sad and sighed. "You're going to look for your Nyx friend."
Athena nodded. "He might be the key to finding out who I am, Bex. I can't turn away."
The blonde hurried over to her and they hugged. Rebekah fought the tears and Athena did as well. "You know I'll always love you, no matter what." They pulled away. "You'll always be my sister."
Athena smiled. "And you'll always be mine."

Everything was dead silent; you could hear even the air flowing through absolutely nothing. The trees stood still, the animals were asleep, and there wasn't anyone present for miles. Woods stretched out and someone who was lost would've assumed it went on forever. The sun's rays and just begun to peak through the trees so there were small patches of light that hit the ground.
No one was around except for one person. A boy that looked no older than nineteen. He had ripped clothes, exposing his chest. He looked peaceful, even serene as he lied there unconscious. The one thing that stood out was his flaming red hair that would certainly catch someone's eye.
He stirred and then the only sound you could hear was the boy gasping awake, his eyes shooting open. The animals suddenly woke up and the whole forest came to life. Werewolves that were miles away, stopped and felt a pulse go through their bodies. They all exchanged glances and then raced off toward the feeling.
For Thomas King had been reawakened. The male Nyx.
And the King of Werewolves

Obviously, this is where Athena's older face claim (Katherine Langford) comes into play. There will no longer be a young Athena (Mackenzie Foy). And Katherine has blue eyes while Mackenzie has green eyes. So from now on, I will be saying blue eyes when describing Athena instead of green.
Season four is honestly going to be so boring for me to write until I get to 4x20. I honestly can't wait to start writing the sequel. And with my updating schedule now, I'm hoping I can start soon; possibly in a month or so.
We have more ship names!
Klena (Athena and Klaus; Arrow9229)
Athemas (Athena and Thomas; cosmologys)
Kolena (Athena and Kol; cosmologys)
