No More Angels

A ROAD TRIP was the last thing she wanted at that point. Just like she had predicted, Rebekah had been daggered. In addition to that, Connor had gotten away. But it seemed to be the least of their problems considering that Klaus had announced that they were going on a "road trip" to Italy. The whole point was to find Alexander's sword, so they could find the cure.

During the time they looked, and then later found the sword, Athena had ignored her brother and instead ventured the forest around the burial place of the hunter. Turns out Connor had kidnapped a few people and held them hostage at the Grill.

But Athena really didn't care. They went back to Mystic Falls to learn that Elena actually killed the hunter. To make matters worse, Klaus had kidnapped Elena and stuffed her inside the Mansion with Athena. And this was all because she was having hallucinations.

So the girl had to sit through Elena mumbling and screaming. It was terrible. Athena was reading a book when she heard voices enter the house. She recognized the voices as Tyler, Stefan, and Chris.

"Thanks for meeting us," Tyler said.

"Yeah, but make it fast, Klaus will be back soon," Chris told him.

Athena closed her book and appeared in front of them. "Well, well, well. Come to save Elena?"

They all remained calm, knowing that if they showed signs of fear, Athena could do anything to them. Tyler nodded. "Yes. I understand that you're loyal to Klaus. But look, you serve the wolves right?" She said nothing as he continued. "Klaus is turning your family into monsters. You don't like that, do you?"

She sneered. "Are you trying to use my own people to persuade me?"

"You know I'm right. And you may hate Elena, but you want to protect your people."

Athena sighed. "He'll be furious. But okay. Go."

They hurried to where he was keeping Elena and she took a deep breath, going back over to the couch. Boring, but that was literally the only activity she got that day. Even Klaus yelling at her later that night was boring.

Everything just seemed boring. Plain even. Hayley's wolf friend was killed by Jeremy, ending Elena's hallucinations. Things were falling apart. And maybe because Rebekah wasn't there for her anymore, things just seemed duller.

Later on, Athena had found out that Elena was sired to Damon (according to Klaus). Her brother had gone to the pageant with Caroline, Athena had continued to build her tolerance with blood, shifted, and had added in some training for her fighting skills.

She was in the backyard, dodging one of Klaus's hybrids when Hayley approached. Athena flashed around to the hybrid and snapped their neck, looking over at Hayley with her hands on her hips. "May I help you?"

"Do you ever get out of the house besides when you shift and train?"

Athena shook her head. "Not really. Dances and stuff really aren't my thing. And it's not like my brother allows me to do much anyway."

Hayley completed the journey over to her and then stopped. "Do you want to know why you feel like this?" She gestured for her to continue. "It's because your soulmate is out there. No doubt he's probably searching high and low for you. You feel bored because you haven't found him yet."

"Yes. But you see, the thing is that if I leave, Klaus just follows me. My sister is daggered, I'm stuck in this stupid town and I don't even know where to start. So if you have an idea, enlighten me."

Hayley gave her a look. "You are the Queen of werewolves. I know packs, I'm sure one of them has seen him. And if not, they can help you. You're their leader. You're our leader. It may seem like a big title but you've gotta take it. Take your crown, Athena."

She left the hybrid standing there and Athena looked up at the blue sky, wondering if maybe Hayley was right.

The next day, Klaus had left her alone once more to go to the winter-themed party. Athena had curled up on the couch, reading some more with the fire ablaze. What Hayley had said to her left her questioning herself.

But Hayley was right. She needed to take her crown and find the male Nyx. Athena didn't want to wait around anymore, but that's what she forced herself to do.

Night had come and Athena was starting to get worried for her brother. Just when she was going to get ready to leave, the door opened and then shut. She quickly got up and went to the front door to find Klaus. His suit was covered in blood, as was the rest of his body.

Klaus stared at her and she slowly went toward him. Unexpectedly, he broke down and fell to the ground. Athena fell next to him and held him as he cried, soothing him. The night had passed, the next day arriving soon after.

The highlight of her past few days was when she woke up to see Rebekah. Athena raced over to her with a big smile, nearly in tears. "Rebekah."

Rebekah hugged her back. "Nice to see you again, little sister."

Once their reunion wrapped up, Athena had taken the courtesy of explaining everything she missed. After that, her sister came up with a genius plan to cause some chaos. Athena wasn't needed until later in the plan.

She had waited in the hall while Rebekah verbally tortured Stefan, Caroline, and Elena. Athena didn't understand why until she saw a familiar face appear down in front of her. "Kol?"

The girl jumped up and hugged him. He laughed, smiling, hugging her back. "Easy, little one. You're stronger than me."

When the pulled apart, Athena saw Shane. She smirked devilishly. "Oh, what is this?"

He smirked back. "This is our plan."

The two entered the library, dragging Shane inside with them. All heads turned to them and Rebekah smiled. "See. I have my reasons." She looked at Shane. "You must be Shane."

Athena followed her siblings to the custodial closet so they could speak freely with Shane. Kol pushed him inside and Rebekah shut the door. Shane gawked at them. "Kol, Athena, and Rebekah Mikaelson...three members of the Original vampire family. This is such a trip."

The hybrid girl tried to compel him. "Where's the cure?"

He was still in wonder but replied, "Compulsion won't work. It's a little trick I picked up in Tibet."

Athena pouted. "That's a shame." She smirked. "Guess we'll have to revert to torture."

Rebekah sighed while Kol smiled. "You two take care of this, I got other matters to tend to."

She exited the room, leaving her other two siblings to deal with Shane. Kol looked to his sister. "Would you like to do the honors, sister?"

Athena smiled at him and then flashed to Shane, clutching his neck. "Where is the cure?!" She turned on the sink and allowed it to fill up with water. The girl shut it off and then held his head under. Kol leaned back and watched proudly.

Shane's head was lifted back up and he gasped for air. Athena's violet eyes appeared, her vampire face following right after. "Where is the cure?"

Rebekah walked back in, seeing the scene. Both she and Kol exchanged a smirk as they watched Athena duck Shane's head back under the water. A few seconds passed and she lifted his head again. He gasped for air.

"You're human. Why do you want it anyway?" Rebekah questioned.

Shane smiled. "That's the beauty of this. You can have it. I just want Silas."

Without a blink of hesitation, Kol pushed his sister away from Shane and held Shane by his shirt. Athena looked shocked and Rebekah did too. Kol growled. "No. What do you know about Silas?"

"He's the world's first immortal being, who just happens to be imprisoned with the cure...and I want to free him."

"No!"

Kol shoved Shane's head under the water and held him there longer. Athena intervened and yelled, "Stop!"

Her brother listened and brought Shane back up for air. Kol let him go and pushed him. Athena and Rebekah gaped.

"Kol what the hell?" Athena exclaimed.

"He's of no use dead," Rebekah added.

Kol spun to them with wild eyes. He looked worried and angry. "Did you not just hear what he said? Silas will kill us all."

Athena threw her hands up. "Silas doesn't exist, Kol. Calm down."

Shane continued to gasp for air and spoke up, "Silas is very real. I know where he's buried, and soon I will have the spell that wakes him."

Kol wasn't having it. "Wait a second, you're lying. You can't get to him."

"Without his tombstone? Dozens to die in a blood sacrifice? Believe me, I know. I've done it. Those massacres are a pain to engineer."

They all realized what he was talking about. Rebekah's eyebrows knitted together. "You're the one who got the council blown up."

"It was a noble sacrifice...and temporary because once I raise Silas, Silas will raise the dead." While the sisters listened intently. Kol grabbed a thin metal pipe. "He will bring back every last soul who died on his behalf."

Kol flashed and stabbed him in the stomach, making Athena jump in shock. Shane fell to the floor and his head lolled to the side, signaling that he was dead. He turned to the girls who were in shock. "You should be thanking me."

"You killed our only chance at finding the cure," Rebekah pointed out.

Athena ran a hand down her face. "Kol..."

"Silas on the loose would be hell on Earth," he told them. "Frankly, sister, I don't think you could handle it."

He pulled out the white oak stake and they gasped. Rebekah went wide-eyed. "How did you get that?"

"Way too easily."

Kol passed by them and then grabbed Athena's arm. "Be careful, please little one. Promise me?" She smiled slightly and nodded. He smiled slightly back and then kissed the side of her head. Kol left the closet and Athena glanced at her sister who looked angry that he had just killed Shane.

Later on, Stefan had called Rebekah, telling her to come over with Athena. The girls entered the house and went over to him. "Please, let yourself in."

"You called us. Should we be checking for hidden daggers?" Rebekah asked.

Athena agreed with her. "Well if you do go after either of us, I will bite you which means you'll be injected with my venom. I haven't got to try it out yet so you'll be the test dummy."

Stefan smiled, holding a glass of what looked like scotch. "You guys still wanna find the cure?"

"More than anything," Rebekah sighed. "But Shane's dead, and you are useless. So, we're right back where I started."

The Salvatore revealed something neither of them knew. "Shane's not dead."

Athena looked impressed. "Let me guess, Bonnie did a little spell?" He tipped his glass to her. "So then why are we here?"

Stefan began to pour himself another glass. "Rebekah, you were right. I'm going to be here for an eternity, and I will go insane if I don't know how Elena truly feels about my brother."

The girl raised an eyebrow at her sister at the news but didn't say anything about it. Rebekah shrugged. "Well, if you really want the cure, you should know that Shane has an agenda, and it's a dark one. He said he organized dozens of people to die in sacrifice, he admitted to the council explosion where twelve people died, and I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that twelve hybrids died at the hand of my brother."

He turned back to them. "Twelve...channeling the energy from mass death is used in witchcraft to perform dark spells. It's called Expression. Shane admitted all this to you?"

Athena smirked and raised her hand. "Correction, he admitted it to me after I tortured him."

"Well, then, I guess we'll have to figure out how to manage him while we find the cure for ourselves."

Both girls laughed. Rebekah shook her head. "We? There is no 'we', Stefan. The only 'we' is me and my sister."

"Listen, I hate my brother, and you hate yours. But Damon's got Jeremy, Klaus has the sword, and Shane has Bonnie. The three of us together could get the cure. Both of you are strong and powerful not to mention the werewolves could help us since Athena is their Queen. So what do you say? You wanna be partners?"

Athena exchanged a look with her sister, smirking. "I think the deal's fair, sister." She looked at Stefan. "Besides, I'm up for a little destruction."

Rebekah then smirked too. "Fine. We're in."

As you guys can tell, I skipped a ton of episodes. I know you guys probably don't want to just read Athena standing on the sidelines, watching everything happen and having little dialogue. So I'm not going to do that. This will be like this for a little bit, just until when they go to the island.
