Chapter 555
Wolf President Hooks Up
âBrook Carroll, why did you do this to my mother? Why?â Rylee was crying and shaking in anger, âMy mother has always loved you. She wanted nothing from you other than a piece of marriage certificate and hoping that youâre going to marry her in the end. She wanted to live as your wife by the law. However, you kept giving her empty promises. You kept lying to her! You made her lived in guiltiness and self-consciousness for the rest of her life. Itâs not even a year after she passed away, and youâre telling me youâre going to marry another woman? What about all those reasons you told my mother why you couldnât marry her in the first place? Itâs all voided now?â
Brook explained nervously, âRylee, itâs not that I didnât want to marry your mother. Itâs the people of my family...â
âYes, everyone in your family looked down on my mother. Because she didnât come from a well-educated or wealthy family. Because she was a singer in a pub. Thatâs why my mother wasnât qualified to be your wife, am I right? Brook Carroll, youâre a hypocrite. All in all, no one can really decide your marriage other than yourself. The fact was that you didnât want to marry my mother at all. You always see my mother as a toy of yours. You loved no one. You loved only yourself. And money!â
Brook was furious and embarrassed. He walked over and slapped Rylee.
The sound of a crisp slap echoed in the air.
âNonsense!â Brookâs hand stopped in the middle of the air.
Ryleeâs fair cheek immediately went red. There was blood in the corner of her mouth. Rylee was shaking terribly, and her tears kept rolling down her cheeks. She glared at Brook in despair.
Brook regretted what he did. He quickly apologies to Rylee, âRylee, Iâm so sorry. I shouldnât do that. I was furious because of what you said. It got into my brain. Does it hurt? Rylee, you know I love you, and I will never lay my hands on you...â
Rylee laughed as she cried. It was a despairing laugh, âBrook, are you feeling sorry for my mother? She gave you everything she had and got accused as a mistress her whole life, but you never even gave her a decent burial after she died. Do you know that my mother came to me in my dream after she died? She told me that she felt cold in the underworld. She was drowning in cold water. She cried to me and told me that she wanted to bury in another place...â
...
Brook was startled by what Rylee said. His lips twitched.
âBut what you did? What did you do for my mother? I told you earlier that Iâve found a good burial location, but you didnât even want to pay that one million dollars! You told me that thereâs nothing left after they died. Everything I did for my mother was only superstitions. Brook, donât my motherâs life worth a million dollars? Youâre cruel. You know what? My mother was still worried about your health before she died. She kept telling me to treat you nicely and be good to you...â
âRylee, Iâm sorry. Itâs all my fault. Rylee, itâs all my fault. Please, forgive me.â
âYouâre not worth my motherâs time at all. She could have fallen in love with anyone other than you! Youâre such a selfish, cruel, heartless person! I hate you!â
Rylee ran out of the room crying after screaming to Brook.
âRylee, where are you going? Rylee, come back. Listen to me!â Brook went after Rylee, but Caroline stopped him.
âFather, donât go after her. Rylee is inconsiderate. Whatâs wrong with going after happiness for someone at your age? Sheâs selfish. She should be more understanding.â
Caroline smiled and stood aside, waiting for Brook to get mad.
Manfred frowned.
Caroline and Manfred overheard Rylee and Brookâs conversation outside the study room.
âWhy donât I go after Rylee for you?â Manfred stood.
âForget it. Leave her alone,â Brook shook his head and looked defeated.
It felt like a bad omen for a man to hear what happened to his ex-wife in the underground the night before the wedding.
Rylee ran out of the house and got onto her bike. She sped like crazy.
Tears kept rolling down her cheeks.
Mother, Iâm not strong enough. Why did I keep crying?
You know what? My mother. Iâm going to buy you a better graveyard tomorrow. You were not going to suffer in a dark, cold and mouldy place anymore.
However, father was going to marry another woman tomorrow.
Mother, why did you love this man at all?
He lied to you your entire life. He looked down on you from the beginning, and he was going to get married to another woman a year after you passed away.
My mother. Brook looked down on you. He never loved you.
Rylee kept riding tirelessly.
The wind kept hitting her face, and her tears got blew behind her.
Rylee didnât even notice the cars she passed by on the road.
Rylee finally stopped after an hour or so when she almost fainted out of exhaustion. She parked her bike aside and stood on the boardwalk by the sea, zoned out.
Rylee panted. She was covered in sweats, and her hair was messy.
âBrook, why do you have to be my father? I hate you! I hate that youâre my father.â
Rylee screamed on top of her lungs, but her voice got blew away by the sea breeze.
A little boy who wore sloppy outfits approached Rylee. He reached out his hand and said softly, âExcuse me. Could you spare me some change, please?â
Rylee was startled. She turned and looked down.
It was a little boy between five to six years old. He looked thin, probably due to malnutrition. His face was covered in dirt.
...
âHi, little guy. Where are your parents? Why did they let you out alone?â
Rylee squatted down and took off the dried weed in the little boyâs hair.
The little boy said in a pitiful tone, âMy mother is sick. I needed some money to buy her warm soymilk.â
Rylee was reminded of her mother. She was going to cry again. However, she bit her lips and tried to stop her tears from rolling down.
âHere you go. Itâs all yours. Go and get some food and medicines for your mother,â Rylee gave all her money to the little boy. She almost couldnât control her tears.
âThank you so much. Youâre the best.â
âGo home now, little guy. Youâre blessed to still have your mother around. Take good care of your mother...â Rylee saw the little boy off. Then, her tears finally rolled down her cheeks.
The little boy still had his mother...
But Rylee didnât.
Mother, did you know that I miss you so much?
Rylee looked up into the skies and stared at the stars. She knew that her mother was watching her in heaven.
âRylee, stop being so weak. Stop crying. Youâve promised your mother that youâre going to live happily. You promised her. You have to keep your promise!â Rylee clenched her fists and wiped away her tears.
Joseph almost canât believe his eyes when he opened the door in his sleeping robe.
âRylee, what happened to you? Did you get robbed? You looked terrible. Your hair is all tangled up. You looked like youâve just escaped from a dump station. Whatâs wrong with you?â
Joseph scratched his head and sized Rylee up.
âIs everyone covered decently in the house? Iâm coming in,â Rylee walked past Joseph and kicked her shoes away, âJoseph, Iâm hungry. Make me something to eat. Also, lend me some clothes. I need to take a shower. Iâm sweaty. It felt disgusting.â
Joseph blinked and closed the door.
Suddenly, a girl wearing a bikini came out from Josephâs bedroom. It was a set of seductive and lacey see-through innerwear.
The girl screamed when she saw Rylee.
Rylee frowned, âWhy are you screaming? Iâm not a man. Weâre both women. Iâve got what you have. Stop screaming.â
The girl covered her mouth in fear. She was terrified by Ryleeâs attitude.
The girl turned to Joseph in a pitiful look, âJoseph, this woman?â
Joseph waved his hand, âSheâs the closest thing I have as a family. Now, get out. I donât feel like watching horror movies now.â
âWhat? Joseph, how could you lie to me? Youâve told me that tonight...â
The girl stared at Joseph with a puppy look.
Rylee felt disgusted. She took off her jacket and threw it onto the couch. Then, she headed upstairs, âIgnore me. Do whatever you want. Iâll pretend that Iâm deaf and blind.â
Joseph felt embarrassed. He lowered his voice and shooed the girl, âStop talking and leave now. My wifey came home. Arenât you scared that sheâs going to beat you to death?â
Joseph kept making up excuses. He quickly put on clothes for the girl.
âWifey? Joseph! When did you get married? Youâre married at such a young age? Youâre bluffing.â
âYes, wifey! The kind where my family raised her as my wife. Now, leave.â
...
Joseph rudely pushed the girl out of the door.
The girl kept slamming the door and screamed outside of the house, âJoseph! How dare you push me out before I get to wear my clothes. I curse you and your ancestors!â
Joseph replied behind the door, âDo whatever you like. My ancestors are all lying peacefully under the tomb. Go and look for them!â
Rylee wore Josephâs pyjamas after the shower. It was too big for Rylee. She looked clumsy even after rolling up the sleeves.
Joseph was smoking in the dining room. He was stunned when Rylee walked into the dining room.
No words could describe Ryleeâs beauty.
Ryleeâs skin was fair and translucent.
Her big round eyes made her looked like a doll.
Ryleeâs lips were naturally pink and pouty. They looked sexy.
Joseph felt like he saw a fairy when Rylee walked down the stairs.
