Chapter 22
The Educator
I walk up to my room and take a long hot bath and itâs already ten in the evening. I walk out to the room and walk back downstairs. Elliotâs room is already lit with lights. Heâs in his clothes and already in a meeting. I walk towards the kitchen and get something to drink and eat. I ended up hungry after everything that happened this morning. I got a can of Coke a couple of chocolate bars. I came back and Elliot is still on the phone. He mutes his phone and looks at me, âAre you hungry? We can go grab dinnerâ
I no my head, âSuper starvingâ
âGive me ten minutes and weâll order food. We can watch anything you want tonightâ he says.
I smile, âElliot, Iâm fine. Just do your thing and Iâll check out the menu. Iâll order dinnerâ
I walk over and get the menu. I order appetizers, mains and desserts. After I order, I walk and settle next to Elliot. I scroll through my phone and check my messages. Iâve gotten messages from friends and family asking me about the pictures that I posted the other day. People have been asking if weâre finally doing good as a married couple and my friends are sending me link about articles, our photos and speculations. I was worried but it felt like it was something new, at least it wasnât a scandal on being bankrupt.
Elliotâs call ends in about thirty minutes and just then, our food arrives. Elliot hands the room service boy a big tip and brings in all the food in his room. He sets up the television and puts on my favorite series.
I hand Elliot my phone and show him the articles. He reads it and laughs a little, âWhere did you get this?â he asks.
My friends sent it to me. These vultures are using our honeymoon photos and mentioned that not all fixed marriages are bound to failâ I tell him as I smile in amusement.
âI mean, I donât know, are you mad or ... because it seems like youâre happy about it?â Elliot asked.
I nodded, âI am actually very entertained. Iâm just worried that you wouldnât take this as funny as I did.â
âActually, the article sort of says a little truth about usâ he says. âBy the way, I was able to email a close friend and I set us up a day at his yacht. We are going to leave tomorrow at seven in the morning and end the day by having a romantic dinner by the port sideâ he says.
I smile, Elliot, can we talk about this?â
He reaches for my hand, âLetâs talk about it tomorrow but I would like to tell you that Eli, my intentions are good. I am surprised at where we are and whatever this is, I hope this works for us. I am happy, Eli and I hope you are tooâ he tells me.
The Educator ï¤Chapter 21: 21 I smile at him, âElliot, I am happy. I feel as if all of this was meant to happen to us. I just want to be sure that we are both on the same page and neither of us will get hurt or be on the edgeâ
