We're open!
The heroic villainess
This chapter's song is:boy does nothing by alesha Dixon!
Sylvia's POV:
I wake up due to the light from the sun hurting my eyes. I groan as I sit up and stretch. Today was finally the day that I can make my weapons. I leap out of bed and start stretching my legs. Lilith comes in a few minutes later.
"Good morning miss," Lilian greets as she heads towards my wardrobe.
"Good morning Lilian, I'm not wearing a dress today, I'm going to need a shirt and pants," I say as I wash my face.
"As you wish my lady," Lilith says as she heads towards a different drawer and licks out something for me to wear.
I dry my face and put on the clothes. Lilith helps comb my hair and styles it with a simple braid.
"Is this going to be the day you make history miss?" Lilith asks.
"Yes it is," I smile.
(What she's wearing)
I head down to the dining room and scarf down my breakfast.
"Slow down silver drop, you're going to choke," my mother says.
"I have to rush to the workshop today, it's going to be the first trial for the mass production of the new weapon," I say as I gulp down some orange juice.
"Everything you have asked for has been delivered at the workshop," father says.
"Thanks father, gotta go!" I hop off my seat and rush towards the carriage.
I couldn't wait to get to business, it was twenty minutes until I reached the workshop where Monique and Violetta were waiting.
"Cmon Sylvia! You took long enough!" Violet says as we head up to the third floor. All the workers have settled in nicely from what I hear and are just waiting for us to assign them jobs.
"The rune stamp has arrived and so has the magic oven," Monique says.
"Wait, what magic oven?" I ask.
"Well you can't be here all the time using your dark magic so I thought that a magic oven would be better," Monique said.
"What's a magic oven?" Violet asks.
"It's just like an ordinary oven except you can add magical fire. All you need is someone with the affinity you want to give up a piece of their magic to create the magical fire. That'll be perfect for when we want to coat the weapons in the dark layer before combing it with its magical compartment," Monique explains.
"Oh, I understand. So... How do I make magical fire?" I ask.
"From what the head Mage says, all you need to do is envision your mana being split and project that split piece of mana into the oven. The oven will catch and contain the mana, turning it into magical fire," Monique says.
I look at the weird oven, it looked so medieval. Still, I did what bi was told and I imagined my mana being split. Then, I held a hand to the inside of the oven and a black flame quickly passed through my hand and into the oven, lighting a dark fire.
"Wow, that really worked..." I say.
"Of course, it worked!" Monique replies while writing something down in her notebook. God knows what she writes in there. Monique then snaps her fingers and brings everyone's attention to her.
"Okay! Just like yesterday, I want everyone to their positions!" Monique orders," I want all the blacksmiths at their stations. Once you have perfected to mould of the sword, you heat it in the magical oven and cool it in the water! Then, the assistants will carry the swords to the magical room where the mages will polish and place the magical compartment to the sword. Finally, I will have Jefferson print on the magic stamp and then the weapon will be taken downstairs for purchasing!"
The room answered with a yes ma'am and they all got to work. The blacksmiths were in a special room that was specially designed by me. It soaks up any steam and soot and then releases it back into oxygen. It's a bit like photosynthesis and it made the blacksmiths working conditions much better.
Monique then walked downstairs at the workers who were going to be salesmen. I saw robin and squirrel there as well as Emily. Emily had weak wind magic so we didn't need her for the magical department so we decided she could be a saleswoman. The salesmen were going to sell the new weapons. They all had their uniforms which was designed by Violet and created by her family's seamstress.
(The uniform for boys and girls)
"You all are the face of the silver dragon! I expect the very best out of all of you! The magical weapons will be featured behind the glass. You are only allowed to remove the weapon from the glass when showing it to a customer or taking it to be polished. If a robbery happens, I expect you all to hit the secret buttons underneath the counter which will set off the emergency alarm and all the weapons will be teleported somewhere safe! Do I make myself clear!" Monique announces.
"Yes Ma'am!" The salespeople reply.
"I'd hate to get on Niki's bad side," Violet whispers to me.
"You and me both," I reply.
The production went rather well. Jack became a blacksmith since he was more of a physical guy and Emily was put in charge of cashier since she was the most well-read out of all of the salespeople. In just a few hours, we had our first batch of magical weapons completed and Violet also had the jewellery set up. My mother already passed on word of our opening and I could see from outside the window that a flock of people were waiting for us to open.
Me, Violet and Niki stepped out of the shop and addressed the crowd.
I clear my throat and open the door. "I officially announce that the silver dragon's workshop is open for business!"
The people came rushing in like a herd of sheep. However, the team held on well with the help of Klaus, within a few hours, the weapons were sold out and we had plenty of orders for customised weapons.
I was in the office looking at the different types of orders from nobles when Klaus came in.
"Milady, there is a very special guest here," Klaus says.
"Who is it?" I ask, not looking up from my desk.
"Did you forget me so soon my dearest fiancée?" My head shots up as I see ace there with his arms crossed, clicking his tongue at me. "Tsk tsk tsk, that hurts you know, my dear fiancée," Ace says as he holds a hand to his heart.
"What are you doing here?!" I ask. Then I remember Klaus is still in the room. I sit back in my seat and clear my throat.
"Klaus, go and prepare some refreshments for his highness and I," I say. Klaus leaves with a yes Ma'am causing me and Ace to be alone.
"What do you want Ace? I'm busy enough with the opening of the new workshop," I rub my forehead with my hand.
"Ah yes, the silver dragon. Quite a bold name. I'm here on official business, his majesty wants me to order about fifty new magical swords. And I also would like to order a customised sword myself," Ace says as he sits down.
"Fifty swords?! Already? But we just opened! I have about a hundred other people who want customised swords. Ugh," I groan. "Okay then, what kinds of swords does he want and when does he want them?"
"He wants fire and ice swords, 25 of each. And I would like a lightning sword," Ace says.
"We don't do any other magical swords except fire, wind, water and Earth. We haven't got the mages required to make them," I say.
"So then just hire them," Ace says as he fiddles with a flower in the vase on my desk.
"Yeah, I don't think I'm going to have time for that. We're already behind on all these orders and I don't have any time to scout new mages especially one with a rare attribute such as lightning. Ice I can do, but lightning is another conversation. I don't think anyone in this kingdom has lightning apart from..."
"Me," Ace finishes.
"Yeah, you, so unless you'd like to let me borrow your magi-"
"Done," Ace cuts me off.
"Wait what?" I ask.
"I said done," Ace repeats. "I would so like a lightning sword since constantly using my magic can be such a bother, so consider it done, where do I need to go to lend you my power?" Ace asks.
I sit there shocked. It's been five hours since we opened the silver dragon and ace was asking for a sword with one of the very rare attributes. Along with fifty swords of fire and ice. I'm going to get an ulcer thinking about this so I just agreed.
"Fine, whatever, consider it done. Follow me," I say as I get up from the office. Klaus comes in a second later and before he could say anything, I say: "leave the snacks on my desk Klaus, I'll eat them later."
I lead ace to the third floor where the workshop was. The thing with customised swords was that the client could choose a design, as well as the attribute with it. The customised swords were more sharper and durable than our mass-produced ones and they were more expensive.
"This is going to cost you a lot, you know. Monique is very adamant about the price of customised weapons so I can't give you a discount," I say.
"I'm the crown prince of Hefelia, I think I can afford it," ace says sarcastically.
"Hey Miguel, I need a customised sword frame here." Miguel was the head blacksmith I put in charge.
"Sure thing missy!" Miguel answers as he shoves a hot sword into the water, causing steam to fly everywhere. The steam cleared within a minute and soon, a sword frame was placed on a desk, ready to be polished and designed.
"So, what kind of design do you want?" I ask.
"I'm not too bothered about the design, though I would like a brand of the Royal crest on the hilt," I sigh as I ask Miguel to carve a brand into the hilt of the sword. He might as well have asked me to paint the Mona Lisa on his hilt.
I'm saying this because the Royal crest is really detailed. I'm talking Picasso detailed and he wants us to brand it on the sword. Once that was done, I moved ace and the sword to the magical room, which was covered in titanium. This was just in case any magic got out of hand.
I pick up a tube which was lined in my dark magic and give it to Ace.
"All you need to do is release a bit of your mana inside this," I say. Ace held the tube, releasing his mana inside it. Suddenly, the tube started cracking and it exploded. I quickly duck underneath the desk and let out a quick scream. The glass flew everywhere, causing all the other workers to go into a frenzy and hide in order to not be hit by flying glass.
By the time the glass was on the floor, everyone quickly crept out from underneath the tables.
"It's okay everyone! Go back to what your were doing!" I say before looking at Ace."Are you crazy?! Don't put that much mana inside of it! The tube can only handle so much!" I lecture.
"Oh, I was putting in the bare minimum actually. It seems I'll have to put in even less then," ace said. I just stared at the dude. That was him trying to restrain himself. Who is he? Zeus?
I shake my head in order to get my thoughts straight and look back at ace, who managed to fill the tube without breaking it.
"There." Ace says as he hands me back the tube.
"Okay then," I sigh as I I out the tube in the hilt. Suddenly, the sword started to flicker and soon, lightning erupted from the sword. I cover my eyes, blinded by the lightning. I open them a little bit just to see what was going on and see ace looking straight at the light.
When it died down, the sword floated into ace's hands. Ace simply grinned as he admires the sword.
"Perfect," he says.
(the sword)
"Yeah perfect, that'll be 100 large gold coins," I say as I write down the purchase in my financial notebook.
"I thought that customised weapons were only 70 large gold coins," Ace says.
"Yeah, for normal customised weapons like an ice sword. But this weapon I dare say is a national treasure. So I'll need to make sure that no one else can be able to access the sword by using an imprinting rune on it. Also, you broke my tube which I imbued with dark magic so that's also gonna cost you, not to mention the dent in my titanium steel walls due to your lightning," I say. "The list goes on."
Ace simply laughed at what I was saying and placed a bag filled with coins on the workable, making a clattering sound.
"There's 120 gold coins, the extra twenty is a little tip for my dearest fiancée, I hope your business goes well," My hand was itching to give him the finger but I retrained myself because he was still the crown prince of Hefelia who had the power to kill me in ways I don't even wanna think about. And now, he has a lightning sword which opens more possibilities on how he could kill me.
I use the imprinting stamp which meant that only Ace could wield the sword and stamped the rune onto the hilt, along with our silver dragon symbol, completing the sword. Ace then kissed my hand and left. I drag my feet to my office and slump on my desk, thinking about my life.
Then Monique comes with more customised orders and I just bang my head on the desk, hoping to knock myself out...
It seems that prince ace has drained all of Sylvia's energy. Oh well, not my problem!
