Part title 2
The heroic villainess
This chapter's song is: go go by bts!
"Hurry and bathe her! We have to get her ready before the blessing starts!" I wake up to see a bunch of maids running around my room. As much as I'd like to question what they were doing, I was too tired so I'm just going to go back to sleep.
At least I was... Until a maid grabbed me and started scrubbing me in a bath! I tried to speak but all that came out was "mama, papa, food ah we'd wlwet!!!!" The only words I could say right now were mama, papa and red velvet...
As soon as I was rinsed, I was taken out of the bath like a chicken and rubbed down with a towel. Then I was attacked by a hoard of maids who were trying to see which dress was better. After what seemed an eternity of struggle, I was dressed in a white dress with frills at the ends.
Soon after, I was in a carriage, being held by my mother, heading towards the temple where I will be blessed. I get that this blessing thing is a big deal, but do you really have to wake me up so early?!?! I was exhausted from turning oxygen into carbon dioxide last night and I wanted to sleep.
As we stepped out of the carriage, my father shook hands with an old guy in a weird get-up.
"This must be the young lady," the old man said as he picked me up from my mother and lead me to a room where all the other nine-month-old babies were. Apparently, they checked your powers at nine months because nine is the lucky number for humans, with 10 being the number of the gods.
As I was put down on the floor, I could see the clear distinction in the commoners and nobles of the country. The commoners were in a completely different area than the nobles, and they didn't have fancy clothes like us. Wow, social status is really important. The old man from before stood on a pedestal and started the blessing.
"Welcome all, to the 18462946th blessing, we shall start with the noble children first and follow in order."
Since the order of the blessing was social status, I was the first baby to be blessed since I was the daughter of a duke. My mother and father stepped up and I was carried to a big crystal ball.
"Duke Scilla, what do you name your daughter?"
"I name her Sylviana de crystal Scilla." My father said. Sylviana... LIKE THE VILLAINESS??? I mean, I did always think that my father looked like a male version of the villainess but I ought that it was just a coincidence!
The old man then put my hand on the crystal ball. It turned from clear to pitch black and then light blue and finally, a deep red. Everyone in the room gasped.
"S-sylviana de crystal Scilla has d-dark magic, ice magic and fire magic." My mind went blank for a minute. DARK MAGIC?!?! Only the villainess had dark magic which means..
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!? OUT OF EVERYONE I COULD'VE BEEN REINCARNATED AS! IT HAD TO BE THE ONE PERSON WHO ALWAYS DIES AT THE END!?!?! But I don't remember the villainess having ice and fire magic aswell...
My mother and father looked proud at the fact that I had rare magic but I was dying on the inside. Everyone else clapped in an awkward manner as my mother took be back to her seat. My father even kissed my forehead which was probably him saying well done.
I watched as all the other noble kids got named and blessed. The noble kids had three or four different magic talents and the commoner kids had one or two but they were extremely weak. Most didn't even have any magic power, the crystal remained clear for them. No noble clapped for the commoner kids, most were focusing on their own child and scanning the room for a potential marriage partner for them.
I know marriage and fiancée seems a bit early for babies, but I remember that in the Otome game, it was natural to have a fiancée if you were a noble. Although we still had things like toilets and taps, they didn't let go of that old tradition.
The last baby was getting named by her parents, "her name shall be lily Margaret."
Wait... Did I hear that correctly??? LILY MARGARET?!?! As in the heroine... When her hand touched the crystal, it glowed a pale yellow and then white. Yup... It's the heroine...
"L-lily Margaret has light magic..." All nobles looked down at the child. Although I was the villainess, I didn't have a personal grudge against lily. After all, she was only a baby. But I could see the nobles look at the baby with either disgust or possession. I could imagine what they would be thinking.
In the game, there were some scenes of what the nobility was thinking when lily was revealed to have light magic. How dare that filthy peasant have light magic? She would be a good servant... Or maybe a concubine...
I was disgusted at the possibility that children may be married off to men three times their age. Luckily, I already know lily would be protected by the temple and then sent to the school for nobles, just like in the game.
As I head home in the carriage, my mother let me sleep with her for tonight. I've never ever slept with my mother before in either lives since I was an orphan in my past life and in this life, it was uncommon for noble babies to share a room with their parents.
When my mother cuddled me in her arms, I felt so warm. It was a type of warmth I couldn't explain... Like the warmth only given out from love. The warmth emanated love and protection and it soothed me to sleep.
