Lunch

Sylvia's POV:

It was lunchtime and the canteen was an all you can eat buffet. They had courses ranging from seafood to vegetarian to dessert. It was natural for everyone to have their maid or servant with them since this school was for nobles. Lilian had laid a three-course meal in front of me starting with a vegetable soup and ending with my favourite three-layered red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

I sat with Monique and Violetta like usual, with their maids: Anne and cassie next to them. The maids normally eat an hour before us so they don't starve. The problem right now was that Lucas was walking with rin again, he even sat next to her and gave her his dessert since she loved the chocolate cake. Me, Niki and vio exchanged glances. Len was about to break his fork with anger but vio calmed him down. Mason sat on my left while ace sat on my right.

We were all eating peacefully until lily came with her plate. Since she's not a noble, lily obviously didn't have a maid so she had to get her food herself, I can't say I'm not jealous since she can eat what she wants. Lillian won't let me have another serving of cake and she always makes me eat vegetable soup every meal even with... broccoli... Yuck.

"Um... May I sit here?" She asks ace. Ace simply said yes and lily looked like she was about to burst into cart wheels.

"Oh thank you prince Ace! You're sooo kind!" Girl... Although he's the prince... He doesn't own the seat.

I'm pretty sure Monique and Violetta thought the same thing. Rin was too busy enjoying her cake and Lucas was busy watching her enjoy the cake. Len was trying not to throttle Lucas for staring at his sister too long and instead, broke his silverware. His maid: Felle sighed as she replaced the silverware. From the looks on her face, I can tell this has happened before... More than once.

"Oh wow, prince Ace! It seems we have the same taste in fo-" Lily stopped herself when she saw that she and Ace had different types of food.

In the game, since Lily didn't have a maid so instead, Ace helped her pick out some good foods to eat and even carried her plate for her. If I remember correctly, he recommended her a tri-coloured pasta salad with some shrimp with a light vinaigrette and a strawberry mousse for dessert in the game.

However, for some reason, ace ordered the exact same thing as me and honey, I don't do light dishes. For starter was a vegetable soup because Lillian was insistent I needed vegetables, but main was a big steak and potatoes with some gravy. Most girls wouldn't want to eat this big of a meat but I need the protein if I'm going to train hard and avoid any unsavoury futures.

"My, miss Sylvia, that is a very heavy dinner..." Lily said as she took in my delicious feast.

"Hehe, Sylvi needs the energy for physical education, even I tried to follow in her footsteps, but the meat was too tough for me," Rin replied.

"The chefs in my palace make the best meat dishes. They are tasty and easy to chew, when you visit, I'll be sure to inform them to make only the best for you," Lucas said.

"We have perfectly good chefs here, and when will she ever go to your palace?" Len said abruptly.

"Why, when we're married of course," Lucas smugly said.

"I don't approve."

"Well it's not necessary for you to approve, she is my future wife and you can't change that."

"For now..." Len and Lucas has a death stare off while rin was in her own world. I think the jealous twin brother and fiancée were passed to Rin.

"Oh right, Sylvi are you close with miss Lily?" Rin says as she taps her mouth with a napkin.

"Why I don't say we're close enough to be friends yet," I reply as I cut into my juicy steak. Come to mama...

"Huh, then why did she call you..." Rin stopped her sentence but I think I know what she was about to say. Why did she call me by my nickname?

Only friends are allowed to call you by your nicknames and really close friends can call you by shorter names like sylvi or vio. Niki and vio thought the same. Naturally, I couldn't tell what ace was thinking and mason had nothing but swords on the brain. Lucas and Len were still fighting until Aiden came.

"Honestly, you two should stop arguing all the time, you'll get wrinkles early," he sighed as he sat next to Monique.

"How are you sir Aiden?" Niki asks.

"I'm fine, although I can't say the same for next lesson, I dread PE," he groans.

"Don't be such a stiff, PE is good for you, just like these disgusting plants," I say as I pick at my vegetables.

"Don't be a picky eater my lady," Lillian reprimanded.

"I agree Sylvia, if you don't eat your vegetables, then you won't be very healthy and live long, I want to live very long with you so eat it all," Ace says as he holds a fork with a piece of carrot at the end. I scowl at him and shovel the plants into my mouth.

"My my, prince Ace, how romantic," Niki teased. I nearly chocked on my broccoli when Niki made that joke.

"You're taking part in PE?" Mason asks.

"Of course I am, I'm not just going to sit on the sidelines and watch you guys have all the fun," I state.

"Y-you're partaking in PE???" Lily suddenly speaks. "But why?" Oh yeah, in the Otome game, Sylvia didn't take part in PE since it was unladylike but I say to hell with that, I value survival more and being in shape guarantees that.

"Yes she is, and so are we," Niki says, motioning at her and Vio.

"It's good for me to visit everywhere, and we get to explore the forest in PE. It's much better than embroidering for the whole two hours," Vio adds.

"And what about you miss Rillaine," Aiden asks.

"It's a bit too demanding of me, but I'll be sure to cheer you guys on!" Rin replies. "I'll also be able to embroider some handkerchiefs for you all in the time."

Why Rin! Why'd you have to say that! I just know that Lucas and Len are going to go hardcore to grab your attention, not to mention when you give them handkerchiefs.

"Well, that may be why you have such a hefty lunch, but aren't you afraid of putting on weight miss Sylvia?" Did she... Just call me fat!? I know I've been indulging in sweets but is it that obvious?

I touch my face and pull my cheeks for any signs of fat until ace grabs my hands.

"You're perfect Sylvia, I think you're cute, and I'm not fond of girls with no drive anyways," Ace says.

"Yeah, I think you look better than most girls here, who have never eaten more than a morsel of meat!" Vio agrees.

"Miss Lily, I advise you not to say such things next time, and please remember that it is miss sylviana. Not miss Sylvia," Niki coldly states.

Wow, harsh... I mean... I don'thave a problem with it but the hierarchy says otherwise and I'm still a duke's daughter so I don't wanna shame my family.

"Lily, apologise quickly," Aiden says, not wanting to cause an argument.

"If Sylvi is heavy... Then what about me? I eat more sweets than Sylvia and I don't exercise as much as her..." Rin says, pushing away her dinner, " I think I need to diet..."

"No, you don't, Rin! If anything, you're too skinny! Here, have my helping of cake," Len places his dessert in front of her. Rin shakes her head and looks the other way.

"Rin~ if you don't eat, then who will have this delicious cake," Lucas waves a spoonful of deliciousness in front of her.

"You're my fiancée, and I say you're just right, but I guess if you don't want this...."

"A-am I really okay?" Rin says, looking down. Lucas lifts her chin gently and feeds her the cake. (This is just what I needed. I am someone who hates reality love but loves the love of characters.)

"You're perfect," Lucas replies as he feeds her the rest. It set all of us into ship mode apart from Len. He glares at lily who made this happen.

"Here Sylvia, have my share of red velvet cake," Ace says. HOW CAN I SAY NO TO RED VELVET YOU EVIL PRINCE!!! BUT HE SAID I AM NOT FAT SO WHO CARES?!?!?!?! I open my mouth and eat the cake. Soon, Len does the same to Violet and Mason sighs.

"You love birds are torturing us singles here," he says as he slumps his face onto his hands.

"I agree, this scene makes me want to find a fiancée just to experience this," Monique says.

"What about me?" Aiden laughs as Monique scowls at him and turns the other way.

Lunch ended with Lily not talking much at all. I'm starting to feel a little pity for her since she hasn't figured out that this isn't like the Otome game at all. It's more like real life to me now. I have actual friends and an annoying fiancée.

It pains me to think of them as mere characters in a game, they're like my family now, even Lillian who has been by my side since day one. The next lesson was PE. Me, Niki and Vio changed into our exercise clothes and Rin joined with the rest of the girls on a bench, embroidering handkerchiefs for their fiancées.

It was rare for girls to take part in PE but there was still a uniform for those who do.

"Alright class, gather round, as you can see, we have a mixed class this year. Since the ratio of boys to girls are uneven, girls may choose to parter with eachother or with their fiancées. Any of you goons thinking of anything stupid will do 999 laps around the school!" The teacher said.

I don't think that was in the game but then again, the only one in the girls who did PE in the game was lily. This time it's: Lily, me, Vio, Niki, a count's daughter, a baron's daughter and a marquis's daughter. That's seven girls in total to 23 boys.

"So Violet, wanna partner with me?" Niki asks.

"Sorry Niki, but I'm going to be with Len, he is my fiancée after all," Niki clicked her tongue.

"I see, I thought it was sisters before misters but it's clearly not," Niki gave her a sly grin before pushing her to Len and whispering, "be sure to make me the godmother." This made Violet's face red as a tomato.

"So I guess I'll have to partner with the marquis's daughter Carol then."

"Excuse me, what about me?" I butted in. I didn't have a partner yet either.

"I thought you were going to partner with prince Ace," Niki replies before stealing a glance at Ace and Lily. "I'm warning you, be careful of that girl. She gives me a bad feeling, not to mention her lack of manners. She keeps trying to cozy up to the prince who is another person's fiancée. She also spouts nonsense that nobody understands," Niki says.

I look back at Lily and Ace. Lily was speaking rather loud so I could hear what they were saying.

"Prince ace... UM... Do you want to partner with me?" She stammers. Ace just smiles.

"I would love to..." Ace starts but is interrupted by Lily's squealing. "But the teacher said I can only partner with other men or my fiancée. So I'm sorry but I cannot be your partner," he finishes. Ohhhhhhhh, that's cold! Lilly's smile quickly vanishes as she nodded and quickly left. Ace then walked over to me.

"Sylvia, do you not have a partner yet?" He asks. Honestly, I didn't. But I didn't want to say that or he'll offer to be my partner and I don't have an excuse to get me out of that situation.

"No she doesn't, please be her partner. I would but I'm partnering with miss Carol," Niki answered for me. I stared at her as she walked off before winking at me and pushing me forwards to Ace.

"Well then Sylvia, would you like to be my partner?" Ace asks as he extends his hands. Just watch when I get my hands on you monique Layla deveraux. I can just hear her laughing at me from afar.

"I'd love to..." I said hesitantly as I took his hand. In the end, Lily had to partner with the baron's daughter again. Her name was... Angeline wasn't it? I could tell Angeline was getting rather cross with the fact she had to be partners with Lily all the time.

But that was the least of my worries. Ace is being weird guys! He keeps calling me "darling fiancée" and is acting like the Prince Charming I don't want! Today's lesson was just scouting the forest.

Me and Ace were climbing the mountains to get a better view of the terrain. I hate to admit it, but Ace was much more athletic than I was. He was practically swinging on the vines like Tarzan. I was starting to sweat when we climbed to the top but he didn't even look like he was out of breath. The earth was murky and muddy due to the weather so I had to make sure where I stepped was supported.

"Dear fiancée, you look tired. If you'd like, I'd be more than happy to carry you the rest of the way," ace said as he extended a hand to pull me up.

"I'm quite alright prince Ace, thank you very much," I reply. I made sure to emphasise on the alright to hint that I want him to leave me alone.

"From what I see, there's only mountains and trees ahead. But it's surrounded by a river that looks at least 10 meters wide and 50 meters deep," Ace said as he searched the surroundings.

"There don't seem to be any beasts here, it'd be the perfect place to set up camp for future lessons," I added. I wanted to get a good look of the forest but I stepped too close to the slippery edge and...
