Chapter 31

Story Part 20

The heroic villainess

This chapter's song is: runnin' nightcore version!

No one's POV:

Sylvia stepped closer to the edge, trying to get a better look at the environment when she accidentally stepped on a slippery part of the edge.

"Woahhhh!" She exclaimed as she lost balance and fell forward. Ace quickly grabbed her hand but he too, slipped. Ace covered Sylvia's body and head while Sylvia was holding him tightly and screaming her head off. (A.N: Yes, you heard me. She was screaming like there's no tomorrow. thank god ace had super healing or he would've died from his eardrums bursting)

Sylvia's POV:

I was screaming my heart out, I didn't wanna die again and especially not with Ace. I wanted to let him go but I couldn't, it was like I was glued to him. We fell into the river and I let Ace go. I couldn't see him and more importantly... I can't swim!!!

I flail my arms and legs around, hoping it would float me to the surface but it wasn't working. Water invaded my lungs and pushed its way into my body, replacing the oxygen. I couldn't even scream from the pain and my vision was getting blurry. So I managed to knock down most of the death flags but I die from drowning?! This isn't fair! I feel my consciousness slipping away as I close my eyes.

Rookie's (me, the author) POV:

Sylvia was princess carried to the surface by Ace. He laid her down and started performing CPR but Sylvia wasn't waking up. Ace let out a quick laugh before saying, "don't kill me for this when you wake up."

Ace removed Sylvia's cape that strangled her neck and removed her top shirt to allow her respiratory system to not be restricted(don't worry, she's still wearing a top underneath!). He then pinched Sylvia's chin and nose and kissed her.

It was a looooooooooooooooong kiss. Ace forced the water out of Sylvia who was now sitting up and coughing the last of the water out. Ace gave her room to breathe and gently patted her back.

"Are you okay?" He asks.

"Yeah... Thanks..." Sylvia says as she gulps down the sweet, sweet air. She then freezes and looks at ace with a suspicious glare. "You didn't do anything weird to me, did you?"

Ace laughs, "well if you mean are moving your heavy clothing to allow you to breathe and giving you mouth to mouth..."

Sylvia immediately looks down to see her only wearing a thin white vest that was drenched due to the water. She quickly used her arms to cover herself and screamed, "pervert! Where're my clothes?!"

"Currently drying off. I'd ask you to use your fire magic but this water is enchanted. It nullifies magic so we'll just have to wait for it to dry naturally," Ace said as he took off his shirt and squeezed the excess water out before hanging it next to Sylvia's cape.

Sylvia couldn't help but look at ace's very, very toned muscles. OMG he had a SIX PACK!!! Hubba Hubba! Oh right... I gotta tell the story. Sylvia quickly looked away from Ace to hide her blushing.

I mean, imagine a hot guy without his shirt who just so happens to be your fiancée but you know he's your doom but he's just so hot? Anyways, Ace went scavenging for firewood while Sylvia picked some berries from a nearby bush.

Ace set up the firewood and got to work on a fire.

"Can't I just use my fire magic?" Sylvia says.

"Well, where's the fun in that? It's not every day you can start a fire from scratch. Besides, it's not good to rely on your magic all the time," ace replies as he sparks an ember.

"You seem pretty good at this for a prince. I thought you never set foot in the forest..." Sylvia says as she looks at him with suspicion. Ace laughs and puts a finger to his hand.

"Sometimes, even a prince has to escape the bustling palace life."

Sylvia's POV:

Me and Ace talk for a while and it was actually refreshing. It was a nice break from the whole Otome thing. I think ace would actually be a good friend. Finally, our clothes dry so we quickly change and head back. It was kind of sad not to see Ace's abs... No, wait! Why am I thinking that?! Well, his abs are nice... Smacks myself get a grip girl! He may be nice right now but he is still perfectly capable of killing you!

"Sylvia, are you okay?" Crap, I forgot Ace was there. I probably looked like a maniac.

"Uh yeah... Just was a bit cold..." I say. Like hell would I smack myself over being cold but let's roll with it.

"Oh, why didn't you tell me?" Ace draped his cape over me. It may look thin but was enchanted with lots of runes to keep out the cold. It was way better than mine since he actually had high class mages to enchant his clothes. One of the perks of being a prince. It was actually much warmer now but wasn't ace cold now?

"Hey Ace, aren't you cold now? I already have a cape so you can have it back," I say.

"I'm okay, I have a fire skin protecting my body. Besides, how can I let my dear fiancée get sick? You may catch a nasty cold." Wait... Fire skins are hella draining! How can he have that much mana? I can't put up a fire skin for more than 45 minutes but it's been an hour and a half! He truly is the crown prince...

"Careful," I snap back to reality and see Ace covering my forehead with his hand, stopping me from walking into a tree.

"Oh, sorry, I was thinking" I say.

"We should hurry back, it's almost the end of the lesson," I know it was the end of the lesson but we were more than four miles away from the starting point, we were never going to make it in just five minutes.

"How are we going to get there before the lesson ends? I heard the teacher likes to make late students do laps around the school as punishment," I groan.

"Well... I can get us there in five minutes, but you can't move okay," Ace says. I just nod, nothing's worse than doing extra laps around the whole school which, by the way, is the size of an island.

With that, Ace picked me up and before I could revolt, he says "you can't move remember, or I'll drop you."

Oh, whatever it's not like he's going to...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!" I screamed as ace flew. LITERALLY FLEW! I was travelling faster than the speed of light so if ace does drop me while I'm flying over the forest, well let's just say physics doesn't support me having a soft landing.

Violetta's POV:

"Alright, guys! Is everyone back from the forest???" Coach Gaston asks. I couldn't see Sylvia or prince ace anywhere and put my hand up.

"Miss sylviana and prince Ace are not here yet, sir"

"Neither are miss Angeline and the commoner girl!" Carol says. That girl, Lily... I don't know why but she gives me a bad feeling. Not only does she cosy up to prince Ace but she is extremely rude to everyone else.

I've been hearing rumours that she has been getting in between ladies and their fiancées. Frankly, men should be faithful but that lily should also know not to mingle with people who have fiancées.

Ah, speak of the devil. Miss Angeline and Lily walk out of the forest with miss Angeline having an irritable face and looking down on miss Lily who was on the floor, sweating.

"I swear, we didn't even do anything hard! Why are you on all fours? Need I remind you that this is a prestigious school! If you are a student here then you must meet the basic requirements! Collapsing after a mere walk is nowhere near the expectations. If you're this unskilled then you should've just sat with the other girls and embroidered for the lesson," miss Angeline said.

Well, I'd hate to intercept but miss Angeline is correct.

"I-I'm sorry, I-i didn't mean to! It's just that... You made me climb all the mountains and all the trees," miss Lily stutters.

"What do you mean? We both went up the mountains!" Miss Angeline replies but was interrupted by a few boys who marched over to them.

"Do not be rude to Miss Lily! She is trying her best!" One said. I believe he is sir Dreynold, son of a count.

"Yeah! I never knew you to be so cruel miss Angeline!" Another said. He is the son of a viscount wasn't he? Sir Fred.

"You're just looking down on her because she is a commoner, well... You're just a baron's daughter!" The last boy said. He was also a son of another count. His status was just above a baron's but still... I remember they all have fiancées.

"No! Please, don't get involved just for me! My status is below miss Angeline. I should listen to what she has to say! But still, thank you for standing up for me! It gives me a new courage I never thought I had!" Miss Lily says.

Wha- I-" miss Angeline was flabbergasted by how the boys were acting, it even puzzled me.

"Hmm, you're all looking down on her for being the daughter of a baron and talking rudely to miss Lily but I am the son of a duke. And I think that you all need to mind your own businesses next time," Len cuts in. All the boys looked at him and cowered. Allen does seem scary to some, doesn't he?

"W-we're sorry, sir Allen, please excuse us!" Sir Fred says as the boys paved away with miss lily. Miss Carol and a few others walked to miss Angeline, who was fuming at how miss Lily twisted her words to make her seem like the bad one.

"I say, we must keep an eye on that Lily, she certainly is more than meets the eye," Niki whispers to me.

"Where's the last pair!? If they're not here in two minutes then they're going to be doing laps around the school!" Coach gaston says.

We all patiently wait and soon, there's only one more minute before the lesson ends.

"They're not going to make it," Mason says.

"No, they're not..." Aiden agrees.

"Just wait and see," Niki says. I'm a noble lady who has been taught never to let any emotions overcome my logic. But even I was worried on them not meeting the deadline... Only ten seconds to go... Nine....eight....

"Look over there!" Rin points at the sky and we all see a screaming Sylvia, hugging prince Ace tightly and burying her face into his chest.

"If Sylvia ever hears about this, she'll turn scarlet," Niki sniggers. They looked like an honest couple, I think I saw Ace smiling at Sylvia's reaction. They landed with only two seconds to go but Sylvia wasn't letting go of prince Ace.

The whole class was whispering and blushing at the pair, many were fawning over them.

"Sylvia, we're on the ground now, you can open your eyes," Ace whispers to Sylvia, who opens one eye to check if what he's saying is true.

Sylvia let's out a relieved sigh before realising she's still in Ace's arm.

"Put me down!" She whisper shouts.

"Well, you guys managed to make it before the lesson ends so I don't see a reason to punish you, but next time..." Coach Gaston says before leaving the courtyard.

"Oh Sylvia, it was so romantic the way you and prince Ace were holding each other!" Rin fawned.

"Was it now?" Sir Lucas says. Len gave him a killer stare and focuses his attention back on Rin.

"By the way, Rin, don't you have something for me?" Oh, Len, you're not supposed to ask for the handkerchief...

"Yes, I embroidered you a handkerchief with our family crest on it! It's even in gold like your hair!" Rin describes as she hands Len the handkerchief. The embroidery really was something else. Rin is exceptionally skilled.

"Oh, and I also embroidered you one Lucas!" oh my Rin, that comment just wiped the smile off len's face and gave Lucas one. "It's a pattern of both our family crests!" Rin says as she gives the handkerchief with black and blue embroidery. It was truly a work of art.

"How lovely, I'll be sure to treasure it," Lucas grinned which sent Len into a foul mood. Oh dear Allen, please stop being such a loving brother. You almost murdered the poor boy who looked at your little sister, Aristella for too long.

"It's the end of lessons now, how about we go over to the library to work on our new weapon?" Monique says.

"Um yeah, that sounds good..." Sylvia says, still recuperating from her screamfest.

"The library? I heard there's some new novels there! I'd love to check it out!" Rin says, "do you want to come too Lucas?"

"I'd be honoured," Lucas grinned.

"Damn," Allen muttered.

"What's wrong?" Aiden asks.

"I have a meeting with some of the members of the horse-riding club. I won't be able to join..." He says.

"And I have some princely duties to fulfil so I cannot join you sadly," prince Ace says.

"I can't allow this..." Len mutters again.

Ah, he doesn't want Lucas and Rin to be together. I'd hate for what he does to the suitor of his little sister, poor Aristella.

"Well then, shall we all meet at the library in an hour, I'm terribly sweaty and would love to freshen up before we get to business," Monique says. We all agree and go our separate ways. Me, Rin, Sylvia and Niki head towards the girls' dorms while the boys head the other way.

Sylvia's POV:

That bath was just what I needed. I managed to get all that seawater out of my hair and my skin is finally scrubbed clean of any dirt. I dress in a plain purple dress and tie my hair up with a matching ribbon. I meet Monique, Rillaine and Violetta outside waiting for me and we all head to the library. When we enter, me, Monique and Violetta head towards a table in the back while Rillaine heads towards the novel section.

"So, we've been selling the four basic elemented weapons and use other elements for customised weapons, but what if we mass produce other elemental weapons such as ice swords or bow and arrows?" Violet suggested.

"That's a good idea but we need to finish off the basics of the wind bow and arrow. The last one was a major fail since it didn't cut through harsh winds as we wanted it to," Monique says.

"I agree, we should continue to work on the design before we proceed," I add. The weaponry business was doing quite well with the backup of the Royal family and the combination of all our houses. However, the other countries haven't said anything yet which is weird because I'm sure they've heard of the new military weapons.

"The tester bow was too heavy and most people felt uncomfortable when using it," violet says as he looks at the paper of complaints.

"How about we trim off some of the design, as well as replace the string for a lighter one?" I suggested.

"But then the string would break easier and that's a problem..." Niki said," I suggest we replace the ordinary strings for some... Magical ones."

"You mean like.... Unicorn hair?" Violet said.

"That is a possibility," Niki said.

"But isn't that very hard to obtain, unicorns only live in Mysteria in the other continent," Violet says.

"But... Drogoria also has a big influence in Mysteria. The Monarchs are friends of sorts... And the crown prince of Drogoria is here..." I say.

"Lucas... He may be willing to help..." Niki says.

"He can't say no to Rin. Luckily, both of them are here right now, I'll go ask." I take off to where Rin and Lucas were supposed to be but was shocked at what I saw...

Cliffhanger!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but this chapter is long enough so you have to wait till the next chapter.
