Chapter 39

What was her name?

The heroic villainess

This chapter's song is:say my name by Attez!

Sylvia's POV:

I opened my eyes slowly, taking in the burning light as I turned over in pain. Once I finally got adjusted to the light, I opened my eyes once more and sat up from the bed. The first thing I noticed was that I wasn't in my bedroom but rather the same room I woke up in when I was knocked out after that slave auction; looks like I'm back at the palace. I groan as I rub my sore head.

Memories of before suddenly flashed through my kind as I recall everything that happened. I really met a goddess, and boy did she look like a goddess. But what was her name...?

As I racked my brain trying to remember the name of the goddess, the door opened and a maid came in with a bowl of water and a towel. When she looked up at me, she gasped and dropped the tray which resulted in an ear-shattering sound.

"The lady is awake! The young lady of Scilla is awake!" The maid screamed as she rushed out.

Jeez lady, I'm pretty sure the heavens heard you. As I stretch my arms, I was overcome with a wave of fatigue and dizziness, so much so that I nearly fell back down. I looked around and saw a mirror. When I saw my reflection, I almost collapsed of shock: my face and body were reduced to skin and bones and my face was now pale white with my eye bags darker than the night.

My muscles and toned body which I worked very hard to maintain were now twigs if you could even call them arms. All in all... I looked like a resurrected mummy that woke up after 1000 years. How long was I asleep!?!?

"Sylvia!" The door flung open and a whole entourage emerged. There was the royal family, my parents, guards and a bunch of priests and old guys who looked important. Standing in front of them all was Ace.

"A-a" I struggled to pronounce. My throat was hoarse and dehydration suddenly caught up to me. My legs shook as I was losing the strength to stand. Just when I was about to collapse on the floor, I was caught by Ace and was carried back to my bed.

As I look up, I see Ace's face which was just as pale as mine. Looks like he hasn't slept a wink either. My parents tried to come forth but were blocked by the priest.

"What is the meaning of this? Let me through!" My father demanded to the Priest.

"I'm sorry your highness, but the lady cannot get close to anyone outside the bubble or she may catch a deadly disease. At her current state, she could die from even the slightest cold," the priest explained. Wait a minute... What bubble?

"Let me see my daughter!" My mother yelled as she struggled past the guards who were now in front of my bed. My mother had fury and worry written all over her face. She was giving off a deadly vibe and the room was turning warmer. I winced as the heat was beginning to burn me. I guess my mother heard it as the air began to get cooler again.

"Arabella, please calm down..." The queen tried to calm my mother.

"No, I want to see my daughter! It's been two weeks since I've been allowed to see her! Argent!" My mother argued.

"That's right, let us through!" My father commands again but the looks on the guards were wary, on one hand they were ordered by the head of the temple to not let them through but in the other hand, they were the ducal family of Scilla.

"Argent, please..." The King begged my father as he out a hand in his shoulder. My father gradually started to calm down. My heart was clenching at the sad expression he was making and as he stormed off, not before punching the wall in frustration and breaking a hole through it. My mother was also led away by the queen as I was left with only Ace and the priests.

"A-A" I try again to speak but was soon hushed by Ace who gave me a sorrowful expression as he swept back a strand of my hair from my face.

"It's okay Sylvia, you're alright," Ace consoled me as he leaned my head to his chest. I could hear his hear beating. "So, how is she?"

"The lady is extremely weak however none of us can be able to treat her until she's built back her endurance. Only you can tend to her basic needs your highness," the priest said. Again, someone please explain.

"That should be fine, but what about her basic hygiene necessities?" Ace asks.

"I shall send a priest once every two days to check on Miss Sylviana as well as purify her body so she will not need to bathe. She should be able to tend to her own necessities after a day or two of rest but she will still need help with feeding and such," the priest explains.

"Very well. You may leave now," Ace says as he dismisses the remaining audience until it was just us two left. "I'm here Sylvia, is there anything you need?"

"W-w" I try to say water but Ace doesn't understand. I then point to my throat and he immediately reaches for the water jug on the table and pours it into a chalice.

"You must be parched, here you are," Ace says as he brings the cup to my lips. Unsurprisingly, I could barely sip the cup. When I tried to take a huge gulp, I ended up choking and spitting it out.

Ace lightly rubs my back as he wipes my mouth. "You need to drink Sylvia... Do you mind if I help you?" Ace asks. I think for a moment before deciding that regaining my strength is more important right now so I gently nod my head. What came next was actually surprising.

Ace took the chalice and started drinking it, before gently placing his lips on mine and forcing the liquid down my throat. I have to admit, having cool water down your desert of a throat gives you a refreshing taste. The water was so sweet and my body felt lighter.

Ace departs his lips from mine as he wipes off the droplet of water trickling down my cheek.

"A-Ace..." I say hoarsely. My voice was crackly and weak.

"Yes Sylvia?"

"What... Happened...?"

"You don't need to worry about that for now. Just get some rest please," Ace says as he positions me down on the bed and kisses my forehead before tucking me in. Even though I was asleep for two weeks, my body was overcome with fatigue and I quickly drifted off to sleep...

"You're alive, wow," a very familiar and annoying voice says. I look around as I'm in my private mind room and see a face that I definitely didn't miss.

"How are you too, Luna?" I say sarcastically.

"I'm fine, thanks for asking," Luna replies with a grin.

"Nice to see you up sleeping beauty," Astro sniggers as he cocks his head towards me from his manga book. It was the last volume of kimetsu no yaiba.

"Good to be up, mind filling me in on what I missed?" I ask as my leg was attacked by a sad twilight who was hugging me to death.

"It was chaos, you were attacked by some random guy who blew some random unknown powder which sent you to dream world for two weeks now," Astro starts.

"And while you were asleep, the whole kingdom was in a frenzy with your parents digging up and info on the attackers and the royal family ordering the high priest to come back from Decreum just to treat you. By the looks of it, he didn't make it," Luna continues.

"T-the high priest!? God's disciple and messenger!? King of the holy country?!" I splutter, flabbergasted. The holy country wasn't exactly a country but it was metaphorical as the Ruby continent was mainly Risciaj which was the religion.

The high priest is very hard to come by since his powers are matched by no one. He is also nicknamed 'God's messenger' as he is the one who receives the prophecies.

"You heard me. Mr messenger himself was on the way to meet you but it looks like he can cancel his trip now," Luna says. Normally I wouldn't be a believer of this world's faith but Luna and Astro said it themselves that this high priest was legit and he actually heard God's words. So, as a person that God reincarnated, I naturally believed.

"And what's with this bubble thing?" I ask.

"That powder was really Unknown, even we have never come across it. Main thing that it did was send you to sleep but here were side effects, such as not being able to provide you nutrients while you were asleep and also not being able to use magic on you as well as your immune system being destroyed.

It also prevented us from leaving your mind since we rely on your power to get out. The bubble was sort of a quarantine where only a select group of people specially trained to serve you were allowed within close proximity of you. Your fiancée was one, along with two priests who are away, a maid and no one else," Luna explains.

Not being able to provide me nutrients... "So that's why I look like the undead..." I mutter.

"Yep, there was no way to feed you or administer the nutrients inside of you. It was hell for your family to watch you waste away from afar," Astro says.

"Why weren't my parents allowed in the bubble?" I ask.

"Well they were also in contact with this mystery powder although they're stronger than you so it probably didn't affect them that much. No one wanted to risk anything, especially exposing you to more of that powder." Astro says.

I sit down in shock at how much sorrow my parents and friends must have gone through. Twilight consoles me as she wraps her arms around me and embraces me.

"Two weeks asleep... That's too much even for me," I sigh as I put my face into my palms. "The dream felt like hours..."

"What dream?" Luna questions.

I started explaining everything that had happened since I was knocked out and all the while, Luna and Astro just stared at me in shock.

"You mean to tell me that you talked to a goddess?!" Astro exclaims in disbelief.

"Yeah. Frankly, she said she was new. But she sure looked like a goddess," I say.

"You just keep getting more interesting and interesting..." Astro says.

"Curiouser and curiouser..." Luna says. That kind of sounds like the Cheshire Cat.

"So... Do you have any idea why?" I ask. Both my familiars looked at each other and nodded before returning their gazes to me.

"We absolutely have no clue," they both said as they returned to slouching on the couch.

"What do you mean you have no clue? Aren't you magical powerful familiars?!"

"Yes we are but this whole goddess thing transcends far beyond our knowledge," Astro says.

"If we put this on a scale... Let's say that the gods are like the Kings and queens of the world and to them... We compare to little less than ants," Luna says.

"Well then..." I click my tongue as I get up.

"Where are you going?" Astro glances at me.

"Since you guys don't have the answer, I might as well just stop the goddess business for now and focus in regaining my health, good bye," I say as I walk out of the corridor to my mind and open my eyes...

Respect the bubble guys, the sooner you comply then the sooner Covid will be over.
