Home Sweet Home
The heroic villainess
This chapter's song is: Where have you been by Rihanna!
Sylvia's POV:
I slump onto my bed. It's been two days since I've met with the high priest, and now I'm in my new bedroom on my new bed. In these past two days, I've been doing nothing but meet with my friends and have constantly been worried over by my parents.
The good news is that I can walk now, but I've been mostly sitting in a daze, worrying about Ace. He's written back to me, which is a good sign that he's not dead but I still haven't been able to see him, especially now that the Royale Debutante was so close.
I sigh, thinking about whether I should visit him or let him have his space.
"It's been a while since we've seen the master fretting over her boyfriend," Luna whispers to Astro.
"He's not my boyfriend!" I immediately say, my cheeks turning red.
"No, she's right. He's not her boyfriend, he's her fiance and future husband," Astro says in a mocking tone.
"Shut up! my love life has nothing to do with you!" I blurt out in an attempt to hide my embarrassment.
"So you do love him?" Astro asks.
"What! No!"
"So you hate him?" Luna asks.
"Of course, I don't!" I shout.
"Then... how do you feel about him?" Luna asks.
I blush at the question.
"I mean... It's not that I don't like him because I do... but I don't... like like him... but... UGH I HATE FEELINGS!" I yell as I shove a pillow into my face.
"So... she does like him but she's in denial," Luna says.
"Yeah, what a coward to her own feelings," Astro sighs as he clicks his tongue at me.
"Shut up, I can't like someone, I'm only 14..."
"But so is he, and you can develop young love at this age. However, I can't really say anything since I'm over 20,000 years old," Luna says as she floats towards me.
"I don't want to talk about it, I have more urgent things to be dealing with such as the debutante and school and my brother-"
"Your brother?" Atro interrupts me.
"Yeah, Silver. You know, heir to the dukedom, went on a special training programme when he was 5 and hasn't been back ever since," I describe.
"I totally forgot you had an older brother," Luna says.
"Well, I haven't seen him either, and neither has the rest of the dukedom in 14 years. He's five years older than me, so he should be nineteen right now, maybe even twenty," I tell them.
"Wow, so he's a completely new person to you as well," Luna says as she stretches herself all over my bed.
"Pretty much," I sigh as I fall back. If I think about my life right now, I'd say it's a collage.
I got to do so many things yet some things don't feel real, and the things I wanna do sometimes happen before I even notice it, it leaves me in awe when I think back on it.
"So... You do like the prince then?" Luna asks.
"Omg Luna, for the last time, I DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT-"
"About who?" I instantly put a hand to my mouth as I turn around to see a certain someone at the door.
"A-Ace, what, when, why and how are you here?" I ask as I stumble off of the bed. Damn, luna tried to trick me.
"I was resting for a few days and as soon as I woke up, I saw the letters you wrote me. There was a tremendous amount," Ace smirks as he emphasizes the word tremendous.
"That's not a lot, I only wrote you a few, and besides, how would you feel if you heard that your fiancee used up all his magic to the point where he collapsed for a full day?"
"Pretty much how I reacted when you fainted," Ace says. I sigh as I stretch.
"Well, for now, come in. Lillian! Please fetch some refreshments for his highness and me!" I yell outside. I know Lillian heard me because I could hear footsteps leaving.
"You're looking much better than before," Ace comments as he sits down on a chair.
"Yeah, thanks to you and some rest," I say as I was about to walk in front of him to sit opposite, but he lurched my hand and pulled it towards him.
"Woah!" I yell as I fall in the spot next to Ace. "W-What do you think you're doing?"
"Well I couldn't help it, if my fiancée looks so tired like you then of course I'd have to lend a helping hand," Ace says.
"That wasn't a helping hand! This is improper, let go," I hissed.
"Come on Sylvia, it's only for a moment, I'm ever so tired," Ace sighs as he lays his head down on my shoulder.
I could immediately feel my cheeks burn. I had the right mind to shove him off but for some reason, I didn't.
I just let him stay there for a full 13 minutes and 27 seconds until I heard Lillian coming close.
"Ace, Ace! Get off now, Lillian's here!" I whispered. Ace didn't respond. I was panicking about what to do until I remembered...
"Luna, get your furry butt here!" I whispered into the air.
"What is it?" LuNa mewls as she appears.
"Go and transform into me, and go and collect the snacks," I say.
"Why me? Ohhh, I see why now, you don't wish to leave your prince charming," Luna grins.
"Just hurry up and do as I say!" I order. Luna simply sighed as she clicked her fingers and turned into a picture-perfect version of me. She then went to the door and took the refreshments.
"No need to come in, leave the prince and me alone for a few hours, I'll call you when I need you," Luna says in a voice that was almost identical to mine. Lillian simply nodded as she left.
"There, snacks. Have fun now on your date~" Luna says as she settles the tray onto the table and vanishes with a poof.
I couldn't think, my mind was blank on what to do, all I could do was just sit there and wait. I glanced over to Ace, who was now soundly sleeping on my shoulder. Thinking he may be uncomfortable, I gently moved his head from my shoulder to my lap.
I sigh, he must be really tired for him to dose off so vulnerably like this... Not that I'm gonna do anything that's a threat!
It may be a long time before he wakes up so I might as well read a book, I grab the nearest novel on the table and started reading, casually glancing down n my lap to see if Ace was uncomfortable or not. I also managed to eat through half the macarons that Lillian brought.
The time went by quick, soon half an hour had passed and I was feeling sleepy myself. Ace still hadn't woken up, he was sleeping away on my lap. His hair looked fluffier than usual. It'd be criminal for me not to touch it. I patted his hair like a dog, running my finger through it and eventually, I fell asleep. I wanted to open my eyes after I unconsciously closed them, but my body said no. Soon, my whole mind shut down as I drifted away from reality...
Narrator's POV:
Sylvia's head laid back into the cushions as she fell asleep. Soon, a maid walked in and froze. She dropped the tray she was carrying. It was about to hit the floor had Lillian not swooped in and caught it, her other hand covering the maid's mouth to stop her from making any sound.
"Don't disturb the miss for the rest of the day, and keep this between us," Lillian mouthed as she signalled for the maid to disappear. The maid frantically bowed and left with her tray. Lillian sighed as she saw the sleeping teenagers and death stared Ace.
Ace smiled as he opened one eye. He was impressed that Lillian caught on that he was awake. He put a finger to his lips and then closed his eyes again. Lillian could do nothing but grimace at the bold prince as she silently closed the door.
Ace reopened his eyes, staring upwards at his sleeping fiancee's face. He grazed his hand next to her cheek before turning his head and closing his eyes again. I couldn't tell you if he had been sleeping all this time or was faking it, but it seemed Ace didn't care, he got what he wanted in the end.
It's occurred to me, the author, that although I have established the main couple ships, I haven't really given them much in the love department. I also want to take it easy for this arc before all the exciting stuff happens. I wanna write more about the secondary characters, introduce some more minor and possibly major characters, give the already existing characters some development, and I wanna make my dumb MC fall in love with her fiancee. These next few chapters will basically be based on the romance and relationships between the characters.
Perhaps I'll introduce a few tea parties to let you guys see some other nobles except the main few. Perhaps I'll do the daddy/ boyfriend of daughter meeting. Just look forward to it.
You can think of these next few chapters as fillers if you want but they will be following the main plot, just at a really slow pace so I can boost the characters. I also wanna think about what to do with Lily. At first, she was just the cliche reincarnated heroine who is a try-hard wannabe but now I don't think she's really that much important when it comes to the story up till now and I wanna change that. I want her to have a minor role with big influence.
I'm telling you guys this because I generally want some suggestions as to what to do with our annoying wannabe heroine. I already have an idea in mind but I want some more opinions.
