Chapter 67

Silver Pt 4

The heroic villainess

This chapter's song is: See you again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth!

Narrator's POV:

"This is preposterous! Let me see my son!" Arabella cries as she pushes through the guards. Argent followed her as they entered the throne room. There, Silver was standing still next to ten guards, all who had their hands upon the hilt of their swords.

"Arabella-" the queen starts but Arabella was quick to rush to her child. She embraced him as she began frantically searching for injuries. There were none visible, but his deathly pale face showed mental scarring of its own.

"How are you Silver? Are you okay? Argent asks as he places a hand on his son's cheeks. There was no response.

"Argent, Silver is fine but..." the king says hesitantly, looking out of the window. The room went silent as the people heard the loud cries of parents mourning their children.

"Silver couldn't have done that! He could never!" Arabella defends.

"Silver seems to have... a very special power," the priest says as he steps forwards. "It seems his words have the absolute power to control people against their will. It's more like his will is their life, and they shall follow his orders to their... death..."

Argent stared at the priest.

"We have a friend who can control Silver's powers until he is old enough to control them himself. However he is at the border..." the king says.

"The border?! You want me to send him to the place where monsters roam free?!" Arabella cries.

"That's not what we're saying Bella, Silver needs to control his powers, and those nobles won't sit back and just allow this to go unpunished," the queen explains.

"Punishment?! Had those boys not have injured his friend, then this would have never happened!"

"They didn't just injure him, they murdered him! What about their punishment?! I'd like to see those nobles try and touch my son!" Argent yells.

"That's enough Argent! This is an order as your king and your friend, Silver will be cared for at the border-" An ice shard grazed the King's cheek.

"Protect the Royal family!" The soldiers yelled as they surrounded the King and Queen.

Argent looked behind him. "Bella?" Arabella's gaze darkened as she stood up, Silver behind her. The air got chillier as ice began to form on the walls and crept closer to the soldiers.

"You will not touch my son," she says darkly as sharp ice shards appeared in the air and formed from the ground. They inched closer to the royal family as the mage tried to melt the ice.

"Kill the traitor!" a soldier yelled as he shot an arrow at the duchess. Luckily, Argent was quick to stop the arrow with his own telekinesis power. As the royal couple along with Argent begged Arabella to stop while the soldiers continued to try and defend, someone else had broken from their trance.

One of the soldiers had fired an arrow, which had evaded Argent and was heading for Arabella. She saw the arrow coming towards her but was too slow to move. Suddenly...

"Stop." The arrow stopped dead in its tracks, eventually falling to the floor. Nobody could move, not even the ice shards which eventually melted away.

"S-silver..." Arabella whispered, her eyes trying to see from behind.

Silver walked towards the Royal family. "Leave my parents alone. Leave them alone. Why are you so mean? You should just die. Die. Die. Die," he repeated. Silver's eyes shone exactly like how it did earlier, however, there was an unknown bloodlust twinkling deep down too. Suddenly, Karl and Cordelia began walking towards the window. Silver's parents were shocked at the actions, the shock freezing them into place as they witnessed their son's power.

The King would have jumped, had the head mage not broken free of the compulsion and sent Silver to sleep. His small body collapsed onto the floor, releasing them all from the persuasion. Arabella immediately ran over to him as the King and Queen quickly stepped back from the 70ft drop. The King looked petrified at what could've been his death had the head mage not broken free of the compulsion.

"Karl, Silver didn't mean to do-" Argent starts.

"It's fine, Argent. It's fine. I've known Silver since he was a baby, I won't do anything. But I hope you realise what needs to be done," Karl breathes. Argent looked down at the ground, his fists clenching before walking over to his wife.

"Argent, you're not really going to send Silver away, are you? Argent...?" Arabella pleads, her tears dripping onto Silver's cheeks. Argent clenched his fists once again before loosening his grip. "I can protect him, I can teach him to control his powers. He won't hurt anyone. Please," she begs.

Almost immediately, Argent knocks his wife out cold. She slumped in his arms, her tears dripping down her cheeks, holding their son tight. Then he began crying while clutching his sleeping family.

"Take him..." he whispers. "Take him before I change my mind," Argent says, not looking at anyone. the King nods before a soldier picks Silver up and runs out. Argent immediately looks at the soldier, his arm extended as if to touch his son one last time.

"You should go home. Arabella will most likely be inconsolable, I can only imagine what she will feel..." Cordelia says as she touches her friend's cheeks, wiping away the tears. Argent nods before carrying his wife away, not looking back.

Arabella's POV:

1 week after

"Please Argent, let me see him one more time. Just once," I beg, on my knees. "I miss him so much my heart is going to explode." Argent just turns his head, ignoring me. "Please! Let me see him just once more! Let me see my son!" I cry, my powers almost incontrollable as the storm raged outside.

2 weeks after

"Arabella, you must eat! You need to eat!" Argent cried. I glared at him, my red eyes stung from the crying. I turned my head the other way.

"I wish I could see him too, but we won't be able to if you don't eat!" he says.

"Please just have a sip of water miss! You haven't had anything for days!" my maid cries. I turn my face again. I just want to see my son. I want to see him...

2 more weeks after

"Argent... I've been good this month. I've been eating and drinking. Next week is my birthday. I don't want anything. I just want to see him one last time," I say quietly. Argent lay beside me, his eyes fixated on a book.

"Please Argent, I miss him so badly. I want to hold him, and hug him and shower him with kisses and..." I could see his hands shaking, "I want to tell him I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not being there for him when he needed me most." I break down.

"I'm sorry for not noticing he was sad from his letters, I'm sorry for letting him go, I'm sorry for being a bad mother and a bad wife. I won't do it again so please," I tighten my grip on his clothes, "please at least let me send him a letter..." Tears ran down his cheeks as he quickly wiped them away and turned to the other side. I couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the room. I ran to Silver's room. It was still so neat, exactly how he left it. Like he could come back any second and run into my arms... I fell asleep in his room that night...

4 years later

It was hard the first year. I had stopped asking to meet Silver. No matter if I had sent letters, there would never be a reply. The only information I receive is that he's still alive.

"My lady, it's time for tea," Sandra says. I sigh as I walk away from the roses. They were Silver's favourite, he used to always play near here... I walk towards the gazebo and see Argent sitting there.

"Did you have a nice walk?" he asks. I nod and smile as I sit down. I realise now that I was selfish to think that I was the only one suffering. I just wished that we could have done something different, anything at all. Sandra and the other servants began serving the food. I drink some chamomile tea slowly as Argent tells me about his day. I smile until Sandra placed a cake in front of me.

We had talked it out, Argent and I. Three years ago. It was in that conversation that we had shared all of our feelings, our sorrows and regrets. We decided to try again to lead our lives without hanging over the pain of our son. As I pick up the fork and faced the cake, I stopped.

What used to be my favourite sponge cake now made me feel sick. My stomach hurt and I held my mouth as I ran to the bushes. I could hear Argent calling my name as he runs behind me.

"Call the doctor!" he yells as he puts his hands on my shoulders, "are you okay?" I try and nod but nausea hit me again.

"My lady, could it be... that you are pregnant again?" Sandra asks. I look at her as I realise the possibility.

"I'm... pregnant?" I repeat in shock.

"The doctor will know, is he on his way?" Argent asks a servant.

"He is on his way, Miles was sent to fetch him, my Lord," the servant replies. Argent picked me up and carried me inside but all I could think about was what Sandra had just said. Unconsciously, I put a hand on my belly. I might be pregnant... And when the doctor had confirmed the diagnosis, an emotion that I had not felt in four years overwhelmed me. Tears fell out of my eyes as Argent also began to cry. Happiness, that moment was pure happiness. And at that moment I could only think of Silverling and Silverdrop...

Silverdrop... my baby Silverdrop, I love you already...
