Secret Date
The heroic villainess
This chapter's song is: Dreaming in my way by Winx Club! (IDC how old I am, this song slaps. Never too old for this!)
Sylvia's POV:
It had been an entire night since Ace came to my room. Father had now placed guards in the garden below my balcony. I sigh as I brush Luna's fur, picking out the leaves she managed to stick on herself when roaming around the bushes.
"Are you really that mad at him?" Astro asks, rolling on my bed.
"I'm not mad! But I'm also not happy," I reply.
"What's one ball? He is the crown prince so of course he's going to miss a few of your functions now and when," he says.
"Shut up, you mutt. You clearly don't understand the young heart of a maiden," Luna says.
"What does that mean you furball?!"
"It means that Sylvia is only mad at him because she wanted him to see her at her best moments because she is smitten with him!"
"Wha-What?! I am not smitten with him! I just wanted him to be there because he promised!" I yell as I brush harder.
"Yowch! Calm down, hun! You're not brushing a rag doll! And it's clear that you are! You can't really be pretending to be this ignorant. Maybe it was cute when you were five and were just trying to play it off as childish love but now it's getting to a point where if I didn't know you, I'd think you were playing the poor boy!"
"Argh! Maybe I do like him! I don't know! I'm too young for this anyways!"
"You're 15 in three months. That's a reasonable age to start thinking of love. And I agree with the fleabag on this, you acting like you don't have feelings for him is just tedious," Astro says as he props his head up.
"See, even the rodent agrees with me!"
"Why are you guys so pressed on my love life anyway?! I'll deal with it in my own time when I'm ready," I huff as I tie a purple ribbon around her neck.
"Did you say something, miss?" Tori asks as she opens the door, carrying a floral box.
"It's nothing Tori, what is that you're holding?"
"It's a package for you! Sent straight from the Royal Palace! I wonder what the contents are!" She beams as she places a big lilac box wrapped in a baby blue silk bow. I replace Luna with the box, leaving her huffing on the floor.
I pull on the ribbon until it unravels and falls to the side. Inside the box was a bunch of pink paper tissue. I nearly tipped out the whole box until I found a smaller box inside. Laying in the box was a silver charm bracelet.
"Why all this for a charm bracelet?" I ask out loud, wrapping it around my wrist.
"That's it? No chocolates or flowers or anything?" Luna asks.
"Ooh, I get dibs on the box! Woof!"
"Only you would be excited about a piece of cardboard!"
"It's not just a piece of cardboard! It's a box! My box!" Astro attempts to defend.
"Whatever!" Luna huffs. I hold my wrist to the light.
"Hm, it does have a nice glow to it. But I don't know why Ace would give this to me like this? I should go to Ace-"
As if the world went white, my surroundings changed. From my comfortable floral chair to a grassy hill, I suddenly teleported here. Shocked, I looked around. The view was breathtaking. Trees bloomed flowers of every colour upon a clear lake with fish swimming.
"What the hell... where am I?" I whisper, looking down at my body, hoping no limbs have gone missing. Alarmingly, my clothes also changed into a pure white dress and my hair had a rivvon in it.
"You made it!"
I turn around, holding my hand in front of my eye as I squinted to look at the familiar man coming toward me.
"Ace? What is this?"
"It's an apology, as well as a date. Do you like the gift?" He asks as he leans closer to my face, blocking the sun's rays with his head.
"A date? Hold on, where are we? And how did I get here? And what am I wearing?" I question impatiently.
"Wow, one question at a time. We're in the palisade hills, just north of the Kingdom and one of the seven private getaway spots for the royal family. The charm bracelet you're wearing is a key to teleport to me whenever you say the magic words. As for the dress, well it looked simply breathtaking so I decided it would be good to wear on a date."
"A key? You mean the charm bracelet?"
"I have your friend to thank. It's a special type of key, all you have to say are the special words and you'll come to me."
"You mean... To Ace?" Suddenly I appeared again on the right side of Ace. Woah. That's actually kind of amazing. But wait...
"Isn't this sort of kidnapping? I mean, I did just suddenly appear here from my room..."
"Maybe so, but are you happy you're here?" He asks. I ponder for a moment, then nod. "Then it isn't kidnapping. Though I doubt your father will see it that way," He chuckles. I stifle a laugh as I retake in the view. I could only describe it as majestic.
"It's wonderful, Ace," I breathe.
"Well, I hope you're not just going to say that while sitting there," he says as he pulls me up, my hair falling behind my back. He took me by the stream, then we rolled down the hill and even saw a few horses.
The wind whistled as we danced our way across the land, taking in the essence of nature. I have never felt so at peace, not even when I died.
With him leading me by my hand, his head turning towards me and smiling as he takes me to a new destination, I couldn't help but blush just ever so slightly. My heart also started beating faster in a way where I couldn't even blame it on the running.
Sylvia is smitten with him!
Damn it, Luna. You may be right...
The sun shone its goodbye as it began retreating behind the hills, and Ace and I were left watching it under a willow tree.
"Today was amazing," I say.
"Does this mean you forgive me?"
"...No. "
"No?"
"... If I say yes, you won't take me on dates like this anymore..."
Ace chuckles before tipping his head sidewards, letting his hair fall in front of his face but not hiding his eyes. "Who said I wouldn't? I'm already planning the next one."
My cheeks heat up slightly as a strand of my hair falls in front of me. He tucks it back behind my ear gently, allowing him to see my reddened cheeks.
"You mean it?"
"Why would I lie to you? I may not be able to speak the truth sometimes, but I would never lie to you," he says softly. I don't know if it was the sunset or the rhythmic sounds of the birds but my eyes suddenly felt heavy. Leaning on Ace, I close my eyes.
"I just wanna rest here for a minute," I whisper.
Narrator's POV:
As the sun nearly disappeared over the horizon, Ace climbed through the open window, Sylvia resting peacefully in his hands. He walked to her bed and laid her there, before kissing her on her forehead.
"I trust you'll help her ready herself for bed without waking her," he says quietly yet authoritatively. In the corner, Lilian bowed as she waited for him to leave. Although Ace wondered how long she was waiting there, he left a second later, sparing a glance at the sleeping maiden again.
Lilian also stole a glance at the secretive prince, before starting her work. In her mind, she was thinking about how to anonymously tell the Master to install a lock on the window to keep out intruders.
Hi! I'm in the middle of exams but IDC anymore. You guys deserve a chapter.
