Part 46
The heroic villainess
Sylvia's POV:
It was a week before the Adunatio and I am currently in Study period. In actuality, I'm just dazing at my math homework. Violet is next to me, working on her magical theories and Monique is tallying up the records from the business.
Rin was nowhere to be seen, but I assume she was with Lucas. She had confessed that they made up and I was happy that she seemed happier with her relationship. I couldn't imagine the pressure on her with being the future demon crown princess and all.
"Hey Monique, are you really going ahead with the Adunatio?" Violet asks. I look up from my paper.
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I mean well, I thought you and Aiden were only temporary until you both find partners you like," Violet says.
"That's true, I just haven't found anyone yet. But I am in no rush. Aiden also hasn't found anyone, so I guess we can continue as we are for now."
"But, and I don't mean to pry, what if you don't find anyone you like, will you just continue the engagement indefinitely or actually marry Aiden?" I ask.
"He may be a commoner but he is a very proficient wizard, so I guess you could technically," Violet adds.
"I don't see how this has anything to do with our academics, we should focus on our work," she says before looking down again. Me and Violet exchange glances before looking down again.
Aiden... We have some classes together and the same friend group but he's someone I hang out with the least. In all honesty, I don't see him except for when he pops up around Monique. But what does Monique think of him? And how does he view Monique? He jokes with her a lot, so definitely comfortable with her.
Agh, I can't stop thinking about this. How will her Adunatio take place? If she finds someone different then she needs to wait another 9 years after she engages with him for the next Adunatio and then the grace period for marriage.
And to be honest, I really can't see her with anyone except Aiden...
"More importantly, shouldn't you be more worried about the Royal Pledge? I hope your embroidery has improved." I freeze, hesitantly turning my head to Monique who had her eyebrow raised.
"I'm sure it'll be fine, Sylvia isn't one to put off practising her embroidery. I mean, our handkerchiefs are going to be displayed to almost all of nobility and having bad needlework will be oh so humiliating, I can't imagine being the laughingstock of high society, right Sylvia?" Violet says as she looks at me before dropping her smile. "You did practise...didn't you?"
"Of course, who do you think I am!" I lie. "My handkerchief might not be the best but it certainly will give the winner a run for its money."
"You're going to do it of the royal Crest, right? It'll look lovely with silver thread."
"Pssht, easy peasy, I have already started. In fact, I'm most likely going to finish it this week. No, I'll go to my room right now and finish it off, I'll meet you ladies hopefully later," I say as I grab my books and pace out of the room.
On my way back to my dorm, I bite my lip. I had totally forgotten about the embroidery. I haven't practised in over a year. What to do...What to do? Deep in my thoughts, I didn't realise that I bumped into someone.
"Oof, ow..."
"Oww, I'm sorry, wait...Lianey?"
"Pleasure to see you aswell, Sylvia."
"Lianey... you won the small competition for embroidery didn't you?"
"Hmm? Oh, yes I did."
"Perfect." I grin, a sinister laugh escaping me as I look at the saviour of all my troubles.
"Erm, Sylvia? You're scaring me."
"No time, I desperately need your help. Come with me," I say as I hoist her up and drag her to my room.
Hi guys, guess what? School is officially over! Woohoo! I got to say, I really had a hard time with a new school and being far away from home but it's all over now! At least, until September... But honestly, I could rant about my experience hoping to excuse why I didn't update but I'm just hoping you loved my story so much that you'll find it in your hearts to forgive me and accept that I'm going to be updating more regularly these next few months. Hopefully haha.
But TLDR; I'M BACKKKKKKKKKKK
