Chapter 26: Allies

Just when I was having a normal life this happened.

After a few seconds it clicked.

My brothers are in the mafia.

That image kept replaying in my mind like a broken record player whilst I paced around the crafts room. This can't be. No, no I'm just over exaggerating, I kept denying.

My pacing stopped when I heard someone's footsteps. "Who do you think opened the door?" A unfamiliar voice said.

"I don't know. We can't tell boss about it though." Another unfamiliar voice spoke.

"Hell no. He'll find out anyway and kill us. I don't know about you but I want to live." The first voice said.

"But he'll kill us regardless!" The second voice whispered shouted.

"At least if we tell him we'll only get a bullet through the eyes!" The first one said.

Now I'm not dumb. I may be young but not naive. If my brothers were in the mafia and my eldest brother was the so-called 'CEO'  then it would only be reasonable that he's the 'boss'. So when those men are talking about the boss shooting them between the eyes they mean my fair but stern older brother. Luke.

I slid down the wall. My life can't ever be normal. Maybe I was right in the beginning. What if they really are playboys who just want me for human trafficking? Quiet tears streamed down my face. Life sucks I know, but why does it hurt so damn much?

Luke's POV:

Life sucks di- "Sir we need to tell you something." One of my men said, with his lover standing next to him.

I gave a wave of my hand and said "On with it then."

The man standing next to the one who spoke continued on for his boyfriend. "Someone broke into the security camera room." He said trying not to sound afraid. Good. He should be.

My face had mock confusion. "How can that be? Isn't there supposed to be guards on duty-oh wait, there were. So tell me, what were you doing while this person 'broke' into the security room?" I questioned while putting a finger to my chin.

The first one began to lightly tremble. "We were in the restroom sir."

I shook my head. "Both of you? And what were you doing in the bathroom?" I asked, already knowing the answer.

"We were," he cleared his throat, "we were using it. Like normal people."

"Really? How were you using it? Wait- let me guess. You were having sex?" I said.

Both of their faces paled. They began to explain themselves but I stuck up my hand, signaling for them to be quiet. "That's quite enough. Now since this is your first time I have a small punishment for you both. Actually, I'll be nice since it's my brothers birthday tomorrow. What do you want chopped off? Your arm or your cock?" I said with my head tilted.

"W-we want an arm. An arm will be nice." The first one said for both of them.

"Good", I walked towards them and patted the first one's back. I pulled out my gun and aimed it his lover and shot him.

The man started to weep. I stepped over him and walked towards my door. I signaled for my boys to take him so he can learn his lesson. I strode out my door and into the hallway bathroom to clean myself up. It's almost dinner time and I need someone to check that footage.

I took out my phone and called my tech guy who just so happens to be Kai and told him to check the security footage to see who snuck in there. I sat in my big brown leather chair and sighed. I can't wait for dinner.

Lidia's POV:

I wonder if I can fake being sick to skip dinner?

I sat on the white throw rug and sat with my head in my hands. I had a thought. This can't be freaking good. No, no this is bad. Surely they have security cameras in their security room. I need to wipe the footage. Yeah, wipe it. But how could I do that? I'm in a shit load of trouble.

I checked the time on the clock and saw it was almost dinner time. Great. How am I supposed to have dinner knowing my brother- if not brothers- kill for a living? Isn't Human Trafficking the main foundation of a mafia?

I walked out of the crafts room, afraid to see my brothers. I run into someone I least expected, Kai.

"Oh hey Lids. Just the girl I needed to see." He said.

My mind immediately went to the security room and I started to panic. "Oh yeah really? What for?" I asked, pretending to be clueless.

He bent down and whispered in my ear "I know you saw something on that computer screen."

My face turned ghost white as I looked at him. "I-I don't know what you're talking about. What computer screen?" I asked again, hoping that playing the 'dumb blonde' will finally work in my favor. It didn't.

"Lidia there's no point in lying. I have the proof right here." He said as he pointed to a Laptop screen.

I quickly looked up at him. I'm sure he could see the panic in my face because he said "Don't worry, I won't tell your brother. I'll keep it a secret for as long as I can. If he ever finds out you know and knows that I lied then you have to promise me you'll defend me." He stated.

I nodded profusely. "Of course I will. Thank you so much. I owe you one."

He smiled and shook his head. "You owe me nothing Lidia White. It's my job to please you." He said formally and bowed.

I curtsied and giggled and we walked to the dining room with our arms linked as if he knew that me knowing this will never let me see the same things ever again. For once at a dinner I wasn't lonely. Kai and me kept talking about random stuff.

I tried to avoid to look at my brothers. Eventually that got too hard seeing as I have five and they're all around me so I glanced over at them all once or twice to make sure they don't think I'm acting differently.

When dinner was over I went upstairs and took a shower. It was a long one since I had actual time to think and process. I decided I would write in my journal and took it out of my hiding spot.

Dear diary,

You'll never guess what happened. Well first I fell asleep in the crafts room (lucky me) and woke up by a slap. The twins were staring at me, both with different emotions. Long story short James slapped Jesse and I had a panic attack right then and there.

After my little startle  I watched some tv in the theater room. My eyes started to hurt and I decided to explore the house. Bad idea. I found a secret room and saw a bloodied up man. Of course they had to be in the freaking mafia!

Thankfully Kai, one of the 'family friends' checked it out and only he knows it was I who got in there and now we have a secret promise.

I stared at the page and eventually tore it out. If this gets out to anyone then my brothers will be in humongous trouble. They might be cold blooded killers but they're still my brothers.

I walked with the torn page in my hand and dropped it in the toilet. I stared down at it and flushed the toilet. It soaked and glided with the current of the toilet water.

Never in my life would I have expected it to end like this. Never. I laid on my side- with the noise machine on of course- and counted the imaginary sheep who jumped over the fence in my head.

Without even trying I succumbed into the darkness of sleep.

Kai's POV:

(Starting when Luke called him)

Luke had called me just as I was finishing my homework. I started working for the mafia when the twins introduced me to it. The only

reason I joined was because I was bored that summer.

I'm pretty good with tech and all that junk. Do I care I'm in the mafia? No, I don't think much about it. I just have to go and hack into stuff and just do the computer things.

Luke told me that someone broke into the security room and I need to check to see who it was. I pulled out my computer and expected to see a rival person. What I didn't expect was Lidia White, the long lost sister of the White brothers.

Normally I'm not surprised. I just keep my voice monotone but this had me gaping like a goldfish. No freaking way. What am I going to tell Luke? That his baby sister saw a bloodied man with his eyes out and fingers chopped off? I was at a loss here. I concluded I needed to talk to Lidia to she what she wanted me to do.

I was searching the halls for her when I found her outside the crafts room. "Oh hey Lids. Just the girl I needed to see."

"Oh yeah really? What for?" I could see her begin to act clueless. She a good actress, I have to give it to her but I already know she saw it so there's not point in hiding it.

"I know you saw something on that computer screen." I whispered in her ear.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about. What computer screen?" She said clearly getting nervous.

"Lidia there's no point in lying. I have the proof right here." I pointed to the screen of my laptop.

"Don't worry, I won't tell your brother. I'll keep it a secret for as long as I can. If he ever finds out you know and knows that I lied then you have to promise me you'll defend me." I told her.

"Of course I will. Thank you so much. I owe you one." She nods her head.

I smile. "You owe me nothing nothing Lidia White. It's my job to please you." I said like a butler witch sounded funny coming from my monotone voice and bowed.

She curtsied and giggled. We linked our arms and walked to dinner. Lidia White makes better conversation then the boys here. All they talk about his 'chics' and 'sports' Lidia was open to talk about whatever. To my surprise she's actually kind of good with computers. She is way smarter than her brothers give her credit for.

After dinner I went home. My parents were at their work as per usual and sat at my computer screen waiting for my phone to ring with one of Luke's burner phones.

"Did you figure out who opened the door?" He asked without even saying hello.

It's much easier to lie to Luke when you can't see his face. On the phone all you can hear is his voice and yes it is intimidating but not as intimidating if it were in person.

"Yes I did. Turns out it was just a malfunction in the software. I fixed it don't worry." I told him.

If Luke ever finds out I lied to him will he shoot me no matter that I'm his kid brothers best friend and the best tech person he's got? Definitely. But will I keep Lidia's secret? Absolutely. I won't ever admit it but she's grown on me.

I finished cutting the video and inserted a loop of the two seconds before Lidia went in and and until she went out.
