Chapter 50: Livid

Switching to brothers

Luke was mad. No he was livid.

How? He thought to himself, how could we not tell? How could we not see the signs?

It wasn't just him beating himself black and blue. All of them were.

Flashback

Zack was running, running like his life depended on it. He couldn't believe what he had just read. He never, ever wanted to read it again.

"Woah, slow down-hey, what's wrong?" Caden saw his older brothers face. It showed nothing but pure and utter panic.

"You-me-we-we need everyone. Family meeting!" He was out of breath. Not because he was out of shape, but because he just couldn't comprehend everything happening right now.

Caden worriedly nodded and grabbed everyone from their rooms while Zack just stood there. He was trembling. He had picked up that wretched book so he could show his brothers.

Caden was all shocked about how his brother has acted. He had always been the most mature and the peacekeeper, but even he can't stop his body shaking.

The Twins were took out of their room and they saw their brother. They were just as shocked as Caden. "Hurry guys, we have a family meeting-no, emergency!"

The brother's eyes widened at their brother. What's wrong with him? Jesse thought.

Caden took his brother's shoulders and guided him to the main living room. James had texted Luke and he had already gathered in the living room.

Zack's shaking body could barely produce a word as they all looked at him expectedly. The room was silent, only filled with the sound of breathing and chattering teeth.

Luke took a gentle step forward and directed Zack's head with his hand. "What's wrong?" He said in a gentle, yet firm voice.

Zack said nothing but slowly brought his gaze to meet Luke's. He held up the horrible, disgusting Diary. Luke carefully took the book from the trembling hands. He glanced at it and opened it. His eyes skimmed the page. Then the next one. With every page he read, his eyes turned a shade darker.

"What is it?" Jesse finally said.

Luke's eyes flicked to his littlest brother. "Read. All three of you. Read."

And not even five minutes later, all of their jaws were clenched and ticking, and their eyes were as dark as the darkest night.

After that night, Luke had gone off to one of their wear houses to cool off. He ordered one of the guards to give him a prisoner. Obeying, the guard had scurried off and brought in a Italian man. He was blindfolded and had a sock stuffed in his mouth.

"Do you want to know something?" Luke asked in a dark, menacing voice. The man vigorously shook his head and whimpered. "My baby sister. She's only fourteen you know. We lost her when she was younger, but she had recently been found. We thought she was okay. Just shaken up by her mother's death, but we couldn't be more wrong," the man started to still, listening to Luke's monologue, "apparently, her stepfather and her mother abused her. Isn't that awful? So as you might guess, I'm in a terrible mood and you, my friend, are my relief."

The man realized what his fate was meant to be. There was no way to avoid it, so he just went limp, letting Luke pluck out a nerve. As soon as he did pluck it out, the man screamed. He screamed like his life was ending. Maybe because it was, but Luke didn't care. All he cared about was getting his Curly home so he could make sure she was alright.

Flashback to the night of when they found out

Their jaws were clenched and ticking. They all had one single thought in their minds. Carl Cams was not going to make it to see the sunrise.

Luke had immediately called and pulled all the strings he could, so that Carl was delivered to him now. Deep down he knew it wouldn't be now, but for the sake of the house, it had to be now.

Jesse stood there, stunned. Yes his jaw was tight and he was about to break a tooth, but he was stunned. How could they not see it? How could he not see it? It was right in front of him all along. When she had that panic attack when he slapped James. Her loss of appetite. It was all there. He just couldn't see it. He had failed her. He had failed his only little sibling.

The wall near James wasn't so lucky. A fist sized hole was in the wall and a  certain hand was bruised and on the verge of bleeding. A hole was nothing compared to what he would do to Carl. Bam! Another hole. Even saying the bastard's name fuels his fury.

Zack couldn't comprehend what was going on. One minute he was sitting on his sister's bed, the next he was shaking to his core in front of his best friends. Zack wasn't thinking, but he was still responsive. The heat of it all hadn't yet set in and it needed a minute to do so.

Caden, oh poor Caden. He was left with the deadliest of all; thoughts. What if I had told Dad when I saw mom in the hallway? Where would we all be? From the beginning, he beat himself up most for the taking of Lidia. He was there. He had conversed with Sarah while she was in the midst of it all. If only he had kept her talking, then none of this would be happening.

James was at home, toying with his blood stained knife. He was going to buy a frame, and frame it and hang it up right across from his bed so he could remember the pain he caused Lidia's abuser. James was definitely the most violent of all of them. He had been the first one to hit Carl. And the last. Carl was not dead-no they would make sure he would have the slowest, most painful death there could be before they killed him.

The man who had caused the most loved person in their family harm, was laying face first in their living room. No movement or sound came from him except the occasional twitch and grunt. Caden had wanted to rip out his vocal cords but much to his dismay, Luke didn't allow it. "Patience Caden, that is what we must have if we want to make him feel even more pain than he had caused our sister."

Caden wasn't particularly fond of that, but it didn't matter. Sasha, who had been eating dinner with her friends, came home to a bloodied up man. At first she was shocked-even though it wasn't the first one she had seen- but once she slowly started to walk over there, she understood. She had a hunch that it was him, but wouldn't tell anyone. She had been in Lidia's shoes. She knew how long and the strength it took to come forward about this. If Lidia wanted them to know, she would let them know. It was not her business telling a secret that wasn't hers.

And secrets are worth a million dollars when you're rich.

You could tell that the five boys were brothers. Not because they looked alike, but because they acted the same. They were all plotting their next attack on Carl and how it would be and what they would use. They didn't care what the consequences would be, as long as he was in worse condition than their sister, then they could somewhat live with themselves.

Sasha was dreading the day her best friend would arrive. She knew it was the day Lidia would snap. It was a miracle she hadn't already. Sasha loved Lidia, but she also loved her boyfriend. She knew she would have to pick a side when the wave came thundering over to her.

The day the littlest White would arrive.
