Chapter 59: Caden

Switching to brothers

"Hey." Caden says as he doesn't even knock before walking in.

I narrow my eyes. "Excuse you? What do you think you're doing?"

"Hugging you." He said and immediately I was crushed. It would be cuter if the situation we are in was different.

"Gee t-thanks." I wheezed out, my lungs collapsing.

He pulled back and looked at me. Then he turned around and sat in the chair beside mine. He is so random. And very cocky. Walking in my room without a care in the world after he read my diary. I should ban him.

"Sasha told you the truth about how we first met, huh?" He said, looking straight forward. I looked straight forward and hummed in agreement, "It took her a while to tell me the story about her ex boyfriend. Trust me, I beat the shit out of him."

"You sound like James." I commented.

He only chuckled. "Where do you think he learned it from? A magazine?"

My eyes narrowed once again. "No need to be so rude." I shrunk into my seat.

He sighed. "Lidia, I'm sorry. I-I've been through this before-with Sasha-but she's very different from you. And no two abuse stories are the same." He rubbed a hand down his face.

A small smile appeared on my face. Just like the time with my brothers before him, silence closed in all around us. I stared outside. The gray skies melted away.

"Caden, look! It's a sunset! Why is it getting dark so quickly?" I curiously looked over at him.

"Daylight savings time." He replied.

I sighed contentedly. "Do you remember when we were waiting for Sasha to come home?" I asked him.

He snorted. "Yes, that was the most miserable time of my life."

"Well do you remember when we watched the sunset? And you told me you count the hours till she arrived?" I snickered.

He glanced over at me in annoyance. "Yes, but I'm going to focus on the sunset part."

I giggled. "You know, everyone has their own little thing. Luke and mine is me trying to get enough confidence to ask him something-"

"Not anymore it's not," he interjected. I curiously looked at him, "that was Lids, you're not Lids, you're Lidia." He explained.

"Well I guess that's true. Anyways, Zack and my thing is watching the Titanic and giggling over it. Our thing is watching the sunset." I said and scooted my chair closer.

He smiled softly. "I guess it is, huh?" I smiled at him and nodded. Caden was a mix between James and Zack. He was stern but also loving and caring.

"Do you remember much about your time with me before I was taken?" I quietly asked.

He glanced over at me. "Course I do. Those moments replayed in my head like a broken record player until I met Sasha."

"Sasha really changed both of our lives, didn't she?" I said looking at him.

"Yeah, I was a bit of a douche before her. Actually I was a douche to her." He snorted and I giggled.

He looked over at me as I was looking at him. "Do you like Ian? Like do you want to date him?"

I was baffled by the question. Did I want to date him? I certainly liked him but did I want to date him? "Yes. I-I think I do want to date him. He's funny, never pressures me to do anything, and he knows when to talk and when not to talk. Besides, you all know him. You guys know how smart he is and how kind."

Caden sighed. "Yes, yes we do know him. And I know that out of anyone in this world, he would be my first choice of a dating partner for you."

I smiled and leaned my head on his arm. "Thank you, for saying that I mean," he looked down at me fondly, "I don't know what I would've done if you didn't like him."

"Break up with him." He said bluntly. I lightly smacked his arm and giggled.

"Hey, I'm sorry for any bad blood between you and Sasha, I know I was selfish for asking her to keep my secret from you." I said quietly.

Caden tensed up upon hearing my words. "What did you say?"

"I'm sorry for telling Sasha to keep the scars a secret. Truly I am. You have to forgive her because she was only trying to he-" he cut me off.

"Sasha knew?" He said darkly.

"Yes? I thought she told you." I told him.

"Lidia, she never told me anything. She-she lied to me." Caden's voice was dark and angry.

"She wanted too! Caden she loves yo-" I was once again cut off by Caden's angry voice. I've never heard him get even remotely mad at Sasha. Never. I don't think the boys have either.

"Love is built off trust. We trusted each other to not keep secrets but here we are." He stood up. His face looked sad. It looked like someone had just struck a knife into his heart.

"Caden she trusts you! You love her! Caden you saved her! If she didn't tell you something it has to be for a good reason!" I reasoned with him, also standing up.

"It's not that Lidia! She lied to my face! She told me that there was nothing wrong and I believed her! What else has she lied about?" His voice cracked at the end.

"Caden you're being ridiculous! Imagine how much pain she felt for lying to you! I sure as hell felt pain and guilt! Imagine what she felt like!" I yelled. Caden must have some trust issues from a past relationship or something. This is not the Caden I know.

He looked at me with a pitiful expression. It hurt to see him like this. Caden was almost nonchalant about everything. He never cared what anyone said. He cared for me. He cared for Sasha. Why couldn't he just see that it's not her fault but mine?

"Caden," I said softly as he hastily sat down, "it's not her fault. I was the one who asked her to keep it a secret. Plus, it wasn't her secret to share. It's a universal rule that everyone is supposed to follow but some don't."

"Okay." He nodded.

I smiled softly. "Good. Now go tell the love of your life that you love her and is taking her on a date tonight."

He chuckled and nodded. He stood up and walked away but right as he was at the door, he stopped and looked at me. "Oh by the way, Ian's here." And he walked out.

My mouth dropped as my eyes widened.
