Nova

Pacing back and forth, i couldn't stop biting my nails.

I managed to get dressed and have Zaryn's wolf follow me to my parents house. Dad suggested the cellar but i couldn't possibly throw him down there.

Zaryn, i could. But not his wolf.

Dad and Blake helped me get Zaryn to my parents home.. his wolf feeling antsy with all thats happened. His wolf didn't want to leave me. He hadn't been able to be by my side in weeks and being pregnant with his pups, he was on high alert, growling at anyone who came to close.

I smiled at this, my hand resting on his neck as we walked. The wolf, i would never have to worry about his love for me and my wolf. It was there and it would remain constsnt.

I knew Zaryn could see everything that was happening behind the wolfs eyes, inside his mind but he hadn't regained control.

Yet .

When he did, i doubt he would be happy.

Mom was there waiting on us as soon as we had came through the door.. her light green eyes in disbelief as my mates wolf followed me inside. He kept looking for danger - Zaryn's actions toward me had the wolf side so keyed up that he was hell bent on protecting me. Even from his skin side.

It broke my heart when i had to lead him upstairs to my old room while Blake and dad followed in, with a silver lined collar with leash and silver cuffs with chains.

"This wont be enough to hold him when he shifts back to his skin but I've called Doc. Hes on his way with Daisy the healer. They had experience dealing with him when he was going through the phase he had with his wolf. Doc has enough tranquilizer to keep him sedated." Blake turned to look at me thoughtfully.

" He's become too strong while you were gone Nova. I dont understand it.." Blake sighed, looking down at his sons wolf as he handed me the chain leash and collar, his blue eyes meeting mine. "But we will figure out whats wrong. You have to be the one to do this" he gestured to the collar. "You are the one he trusts."

Dad let out an angry growl, his arms crossed over his chest. The look in his eyes said it all. He wanted a piece of Zaryn.. the skin side anyway.

We hadn't even gotten to my new power yet... I wanted to save that for last. I hadn't even told anyone about it yet but I could still feel it though.. like a live wire coursing energy through my body.. energy i never sensed before, an electric current running through my fingers and arms.

Placing a hand on my small baby bump, I focused my gaze on the large grey wolf lying on my bed with his head resting between his paws.. watchful eyes going toward the leash before darting around the room at all of us. Carefully i approached him.

Kneeling so i was eye level, I gently rubbed his head... our eyes never leaving the others. "My Alpha. I know you dont agree with this.." i held the silver leash and collar up , his lip pulling back. "But dont you want me back? Dont you want me to fix Zaryn? So you both can be with me and the pups all the time?"

He huffed, staring over at the silver contraption before looking back at me.. a rumble of discontent out of his chest at the idea.

Through the bond i could see that yes, he did agree. His normal Alpha self would never submit to this but he wanted me safe. If that meant wearing a collar -

Then he would wear it.

"This is only going to sting for just a bit. Im sorry." My hoarse broken whisper fanned against the fur of this jaw as i nuzzled him tenderly, tears building in my eyes. .

He licked my face, whining low. He didnt like seeing me cry especially over him. The Alpha dominance in him was still there but it was hidden due to how horrible he felt about all of this.. about not being able to control his skin side..

My forehesd pressed to the wolfs, our eyes open to the other as my fingers dove into the scruff of his neck. "Its going to be okay my Alpha mate. I'll make it right again. Dont worry." My smile didnt reach my eyes as i lifted the collar to his neck. He tried so hard not to growl at me which resulted in a growl that turned into a whine. I belted the collar around his neck securely..

To his credit, the wolf didn't whimper or whine as the silver singed his fur. More tears flowed from me.. i didn't like doing this to him. I backed awa, scratching his jaw as i did before huddling into myself.

My dad approached me causing Zaryn's wolf to snarl low in agitation but dad ignored it and he took my hand. "Its going to be okay Nova. We are going to do everything we can to figure out whats wrong. Why dont you go downstairs with your mom and have some tea. You dont look so well." His forrest green eyes regarded me with empathy as he wrapped me in a tight embrace.

Returning the hug, i wrapped my own arms round him, peering down at Zaryns wolf who watched uncomfortably - like he wanted to be the one to hold me.

Metal snapping clicked through the room and i lifted my head to see Blake snapping cuffs to the bed with chains linking them. The wolf growling low, not liking how he, the Alpha of these wolves, was being subjected to this. But he understood.

He would do it for me.

And for the good of this pack.

I leaned over to my mate, rubbing under his jaw and he peered back over at me. "I'll be back in a bit. Im just going downstairs. We have to be ready in case Zaryn tries to shift back. He knows whats happening so he will try and force you back. Just try to relax okay?" I gave my wolf one last kiss between the eyes and with a lingering gaze, left my old room and headed downstairs while the males stayed in the room with Zaryns wolf.

This was all such a headache. I hated dealing with this. Whatever is wrong with Zaryn.. I hope we can fix it. Him not being on the same page as his wolf isnt good.. bad things can happen..

Bad things as in like the bad things that happened to Alpha Maximus, Maxim's dad.

Maxim..... thats who i needed to call. Maybe Eden can help me with my little power problem as well..

Stepping down into the kitchen and living room area, i found mom busying herseld with making tea and i smiled to myself. Mom always felt the need to cook or make tea whenever something was going on. It was her stress release i believe.

"Hey mom." I gave her a small smile the moment she glanced up at me and her head tilted to the side as she smiled sadly.

"Hey baby. I made you a cup of herbal tea with sweet cream and honey. Why dont you have a seat." She gestured to the island.

I climbed up into the chair and settled in with a huff. I wanted everything to just go back to how it was three weeks ago.. living in bliss for all of an entire week.

"Is he still in wolf form?" Mom rose a brow in question as she set a teacup, steaming with smells of cloves and cinnamon in front of me.

"Yeah." My reply was barely above a whisper.

It was silent for a moment until a knock sounded at the door and i immediately smelled Docs scent along with Daisy's, mixed together. They had mated recently.. you could tell by how their scent combined.

How sweet..

Mom scurried toward the door and opened it, revealing the pair who smiled breifly.

"Evening, Dahlia. Is he still in wolf?" Doc tipped his hat as he was ushered inside by Daisy who wore her new mate mark proudly as did he. She followed the same path as Eden so it seems..

Two elder wolves, making a life together..

"Yes Doc, Nova says he is still in wolf form. For now. He's been collared and chained to the bed. They are ready for you.

Doc nodded as mom closed the door and i sat there, just watching until the pair turned to me and Daisy's eyes widened. She approached me with confusion, holding her hand out to my belly before jerking away as if something had shocked her. Disbelief was written over her once beautiful features.

Her wolfs eyes peered at me, assesing me. Curious.

"Nova." Doc nodded my way, medical bag in one hand. "How have you been feeling?" He gestured to my pups with a small smile.

Sighing, I returned it. "I've had better days."

Mom returned to making tea for the new guests as Daisy eyed me before turning to her new mate. "Darling why dont you go deal with the Alpha. I have some girl talk to take care of." She grinned, giving a loving smile to her mate.

Doc nodded, leaning in to kiss her cheek breifly before heading upstairs. I hope Zaryn and I can be thay way one day..

Daisy took a seat beside me, watching me with those knowing eyes. "I sense the moon's power inside you."

Didnt everyone know that already?

"Yeah.. didnt you hear. Apparently im the moons warrior." I snorted, shaking my head as i turned back to my tea.

Mama placed a tea down in front of Daisy and she thanked her graciously before mom scampered up the stairs with drinks for the males.. always the martha stewart of wolves.

Daisy clicked her tongue against her teeth. "Now that we are alone.. how about you tell me.. have you experienced anything... unusual? With electric energy?"

Whipping my head towards her, "what? How did you know?"

A knowing smile, "i can feel it, child. I wasnt talking about the power you have from the moon. Im talking about them." She nodded her head toward my stomach, honey eyes sparkling with interest.

"What?" My eyebrows shot up and she smirked.

"The twins. They are powerful. Powerful enough to protect their mother if they feel like shes in danger perhaps?" Daisy eyes me from the side, bringing her teacup to her lips.

I was completely flabbergasted.

"Yes... it happened. A forcefield surrounded me when Zaryn lunged for me.. but.. how?" I was paying full attention now to crazy daisy as people called her but healers were wise. Wiser beyond belief. Sometimes even wiser than oracles. But oracles talked to the moon whereas Healers possessed her power.

"Nova.. you became pregnant right on the cusp of becoming the moons warrior.. you aren't even sure what power you hold. But because of that, your pups were also hit with that power.."

My eyes widened. "Which means.."

"They will be warriors too. They possess the same power as you but together they can access more. Which is why that forcefield that protected you? Stopped your mate from attacking you." There was not a stitch of amusement on her face, lined with small wrinkles here and there. She was serious as a heart attack.

My heart began to beat faster. "W-what does that mean?"

Daisy shrugged elegantly. "Its different for everyone. You wont know until they are born but the moon has blessed you beyond belief. However balance is to be maintained." She took out a bag of herbs from a sache in her pocket and dropped on of the leaves in my cup. "Drink that. It will help your anxiety the natural way." She smiled softly, as if knowing what i was experiencing.

Nodding my head, i stirred my cup, focused on Daisy now. "What about my power? Is there something more the moon hasnt told me?"

Closing her eyes, she turned to me, holding her hand out for mine. Tentatively i gave her my hand and she placed her other one on top.. mumbling something to herself in the old language of wolves.. the language of the moon.

When her eyes opened they were bright silver and i gasped but just as it happened, it was gone... turning back to the shade of honey. A broad grin appeared on her painted lips. "Child.. you hold the gift of healing. What the moon said to you, she speaks cryptically sometimes.. leaves you to figure out the missing pieces. But you, unlike me.. you can heal someone with just your words and the touch of your skin.. but you have to focus. There is a current in you.. one that radiates from your aura. That is yours and yours alone. Your healing powers... guiding lost wolves was your order, no?"

I nod my head in wonder.

"Then.. guide those lost wolves my supernova. " she smiled, her eyes raising to look at the ceiling.

She was telling me to guide Zaryn...

My hands began to shake and her eyes darted to the tea. "Drink, Luna."

Steadying myself, i took my cup with both hands and sipped the steaming liquid.

"About your pups." She chimed. "They have their own powers because they were beginning within you when you touched the moon. They are your protectors while they are inside. When they are born.. you may see what powers they hold. They will also be in the moons favor. They wont be the same. But together they can be very powerful."

My mind was spinning with all this new information.

Frowning, i turned to her. "How do you know all of this?"

Her gaze seemed far away as if she were remembering something. "My ancestor had the moons warrior symbol. The last wolf known to possess it. My great grandmother, her daughter, was born with those powers i speak of but she didn't use them correctly. She turned dark. My grandmother was born before my great grandmother went dark and she passed the stories onto us. The moon had taken away her gift from our bloodline... but my mother and I.. we were gifted with being healers. The lowest on the totem pole of the moons gifts but in my opinion i see it as an honor." She turned to me... a fierceness in her expression as she grabbed my hand.

"Nova there will always be temptation to go dark. With power comes responsibility. You must always stay with the light. Never misuse what you have.. teach your pups the same."

I didn't understand how i could possibly misuse powers of healing but i just nodded.

My pups would be the moons warriors as well?

The moon must have me in her favor .. very much so if she had plans for my pups as well as me.. I was given the gift because i went through so mich strife and heartache as i brought truths to the surface, doing the moons bidding unknowingly. She rewarded me. But my pups?

They were going to be born with their gifts.

The natural strength.. the dominance...

They would be great warriors.

I smiled a bit, my hands rubbing my small swollen belly.

"I think you would benefit from working with me.. let me guide you. Afterall, you are a healer. Just a more powerful one." She winked.

Maybe i would be okay.

Smiling, "id like that very much."

A moment passed and my mate came to mind. Daisy knew so much about me.. what about Zaryn?

"Daisy? What about Zaryn.. "

Her lips pursed, "You will be assisting on that one. But give your oracle friend a call. Speak to her mate. The two of them can help you. You see.. when you left.. Zaryn became so weak.. his skin side anyways. He had lost his pup, killed his brother, you left.. then he tried to kill himself. So the wolf became stronger.. absorbing the strength of his skin side which left Zaryn prone to the wolf taking over without his consent. He couldn't hold it back. When he moved in with me.. Doc and i worked with him. With therapy and training by Gabriel, that general wolf.. well, Alpha Gabriel now.. Zaryn became stronger. Stronger than even his own wolf. He was able to take control of his wolf again and was no longer attacking others. It was awful." She shook her head. "But when his skin became stronger? He was too dominant. No one else but doc and myself could be around him for very long. His wolf was still strong as it never gave back the strength he absorbed but Zaryn worked hard and built up his own strength again... to be stronger than the wolf side. So you see Luna Nova.. Zaryn is a ball of dominant strength.. waiting to explode. He has too much. It made him ruthless for a while but he worked to get you back. The pack helped.. being a leader helped his wolf.. then you coming back? It almost seemed like he was himself again. I believe the deaths of his pack members and family has taked a toll but Maxim will know what to do. Afterall.. it did happen to him too." She sipped her tea.

My mouth fell open. Zaryn really did have a hard time when i left... and i just.. left. I had a good reason but now looking back on it.. he needed me. I should have stayed.

But then i wouldn't have done what i wanted to do..

Become a warrior.

A sudden crash from upstairs had me on high alert. Daisy and I looked at each other with panic and we were off our stools.. jogging upstairs. Her long skirt shished to and fro as we bounded up the stairs, the crashing and yelling causing a commotion.

Bursting through the door of my old room, i held my hand over my mouth at what I saw.

Zaryn was thrashing in his skin, naked. With the collar around his neck and the cuffs holding his hands to the headboard. His ankles were also cuffed at the bottom of my bed and he was bucking so hard that i thought surely he would break the bed.

My wolf growled, sounding into the air and i immediately snatched a blanket off the chair and covered his lower half with it so he want bouncing around all over the place for eyes to see.

The wolf in me didnt like it.. even though there was only my mom and Daisy.

Zaryn growled .. no more like roared, so loudly that it shook the walls and i stepped back. Dad was at the foot of the bed, holding his ankles down and Blake was at the head.

"You!" Zaryn spat, glaring my way with such a fierceness it had my wolf whimpering on the inside. I stepped forth, feeling perplexed as to what was gonna happen if he couldn't be contained. He could easily give us all an alphas command and we would be releasing him instantly, unable to go against him.

Doc was readying the tranquilizer as i made my way to Zaryn's bed side.

"Zaryn, Im-"

"Looks like you've turned the tables on me, mate! Now im the one tied to the bed." His laugh was menacing.

Dad snarled at him at the insinuation and my cheeks flamed with embarassment. He thought Zaryn meant sèxually....

"Zaryn." I approached him cautiously, reaching the side of the bed he couldn't get to.

"Nova, back away." Dad grounded out.

Zaryn glared at him. "I wouldn't hurt my mate no matter how badly i want to." He eyed me with contempt.

Frowning, "you hurt me earlier.. " i pulled my shirt collar down, eposing the red marks his fingers had left that had healed from the purple they were an hour ago.

He growled. "That was an accident. You told me you were leaving me. I didnt like it. Id never make you bleed no matter how angry i am." It was growled. "Well, aside from that one time when I screwed you so hard that-"

He was interrupted by the roar of my dad who strode up beside him and punched him hard in the mouth. "Alpha or not, mate or not, you wont talk about my daughter that way disrespecting her like that!!"

I had already hopped off the bed as Doc came closer with the syringe.

At the mention of the word Alpha, Zaryn got this look in his eyes. A look i knew all too well. His wolf communicated to me and I was flying towards my old closet and grabbing a roll of duct tape off the top shelf as i heard the first words from his mouth.

"I Command all of-"

Before he could finish, i had ripped off a piece of the sticky tape and slapped it over his mouth which earned me a glare and a rumble from his chest.

"Whew." I sighed, tossing the tape on the bedside table and sat down next to Zaryn once more.

"Good job, Luna." Daisy smirked with satisfaction as everyone else nodded with smiles.

They got one over on him.

"Doc." I turned my head to meet his gaze, syringe ready in hand. "Can you give us a moment? All of you?" Meeting everyone's stare. I just needed to be alone with him. Just a few moments..

"Nova.. i dont think-" dad was cut off by Daisy.

"The girl is not a pup anymore, Jack. Lets give them a moment. Wait outside the door just in case but it doesn't look like hes going anywhere." Daisy smirked, winking at me before disappearing out the door followed by my mom who sent me a sad smile. She never knew how to handle emotions..

Dad sighed irritably as the three males filed out the door but he turned before closing it... his green eyes hard. "Nova ill be right down these stairs listening for any screams." His lip raised as he looked at Zaryn. "Boy you better pray to the moon goddess you can hold yourself back because the ass beating you're gonna get from me when you're better is going to be hard to handle as it is, for putting your hands on my daughter. You are an unworthy mate." He spat angrily with a growl, slamming the door hard.

Letting out a shaky breath, i sank further into the mattress, Zaryn chained up and tape over his mouth behind me.

Working up the courage, i closed my eyes and asked the moon goddess for help. To guide me.

I turned to face him, crossing my legs. His body was still dirty with blood and healing gashes from training earlier but my eyes lingered on his muscles and tattoos.. the blanket covering enough of him that I could focus.

"Zaryn...." i trailed my gaze up to see his face was set in deep hard lines, chest heaving with how angry he was.

"Im sorry it had to be this way but you left me no choice." I bowed my head, seeing my little pooch stick out from my shirt. I smiled, closing my eyes and put my hands on it, covering the growing life inside. My little protectors

"That elecric forcefield? From earlier?" I met his hard stare. "It was them." My whispered words had Zaryn frowning in confusion.

Feeling his interest peak, i took a chance and lay next to him. I believed he wouldn't harm me. Not like this, if at all. I wanted to forget about earlier but it played in my mind like a fiddle. How he acted.. the things he did...

I just pray he isnt.. sick.

But if he were, the moon would've taken him.

I lay on my side, looking into his eyes. "The pups, they are strong. They will be born with the gift.. the moon's warriors." I smiled, shaking my head. "It seems that when i was given the gift, the pups were already forming.. your seed.. my egg... they got powers too. But.. we dont know what they will be. It wont be the same as mine.. mine is to heal.. plus the strength and natural dominance." I laughed lightly, sparing a glance up at Zaryn who silently took everything in.

Tears pricked my eyes and I leaned over him.. he followed me with his gaze. "I need you, Zaryn. Please. Please come back to me.." the tears flowed hot down my cheek and I rested my hand on his jaw, cupping it tenderly. "Please don't make me go through this by myself. I need you now more than ever. The old you." I sniffled, trying to reign in the tears but it was no use. My heart felt heavy...

"I know the loss of your family and pack may have something to do with how you are acting.. but i can heal you once i figure out how it works. I just... I really need my mate right now." I withdrew my hand, my face screwing up as i cried.

He must have felt it through the walls i shattered .. the barrier he had put up that I knocked down because a moment later he was trying to edge himself closer to me, as much as he could.. a tortured expression on his handsome features.

"Oh Zaryn.." my head shook sadly. "Im going to help you. I promise ill find a way." My thumb traced the tape covering his lips.

I should hate him

With every fiber of my being, i should.  But i cant. I just cant. I need him.  I cant do this by myself..

I know what has happened.. it wasn't the real him. I've never seen Zaryn that way. I know better. Something inside me is telling me to fight it. To help him.

Sighing, i got up from the bed and walked toward the door but looked back at him as i opened it.

"I do love you Zaryn.  Im going to help you. I promise. Im not going to give up so easily.  No matter what you do." My watery smile spread and i was out the door, closing it behind me.

Slowly stepping down the stairs, my dad was sitting at the bottom, his head turning to see me coming.

"Its time now." My head nodded at dad then doc.

Dad stood, letting me slide past his large frame but his hand caught my arm.. his eyes studying me hard. "Is it true? About the pups and the power?"

Looking around at everyone with my tear filled eyes, doc and Daisy remained impassive while mom stared at me in shock.

"It is." I peered up at dad, something behind his eyes i couldn't decipher.

With a curt not, he let me go, heading up to the room with doc on his trail, syringe in hand.

I couldn't see him in that state.

Mom regarded me as if I were the moon goddess herself while she and Daisy sat at the island, Daisy with that al knowing expression she normally had.

"S-so... the pups?" Mom rose her brows in disbelief and a moment ago I could relate.. but ive seen so much that nothing really comes as a surprise anymore.

"They will have power. Different from mine. Daisy knows more than i do.. she can explain better." My smile was one sided and small as I grabbed my jacket. "Im going for a walk to clear my head. Be back soon."

Not waiting for a response, i walked out the back door and down the steps into the cool night air of the forrest surrounding me. The lake could be seen through the trees, a bright silver moon shimmering on the water.

I hope whatever happens, the moon gives me some sort of peace eventually.  No one wolf should have to go through this.

Taking out my phone from my pocket, i unlocked the screen and scrolled through my contacts until I found Queen Eden I .

Rolling my eyes with a slight smirk, i laughed to myself. She had changed her name in my phone as she has always done.. im glad something i my life can stay the same.

Clicking on her name, i waited for her to pick up. She did, on the second ring.. her tone snappy and breathless.

"Nova im kind of in the middle of something! Can i call you back?"

I could hear Maxim in the background telling her not to be such a b!tch and i couldn't help but to smile. Maxim had become family to me too.

"Actually Ede.. this cant wait. Its important and Maxim needs to hear this too."

Suddenly she was all ears. "Is everything okay? Whats wrong?" I could hear the rustling of what i assume to be sheets and the echo the moment she put me on speaker.

"No.. everything isnt okay. Its Zaryn.." i tried and failed to keep my voice from shaking.

Maxims deep voice broke the silence.  "Whats happened? Tell me."

And so i did.

I told them both everything.. from the moment Zaryn and I had that conversation weeks ago and how he flipped.. to the part about how his wolf was being restrained by his skin and wanted to break free, resulting in the wolf becoming angered. To the part about Zaryn releasing his wolf on humans to let him take out his agression.. to his treatment of me.. and what happened today. With how he tried to lunge at me and my powers kicked in.. well, the pups powers. How they protected me.

I could hear Maxim curse under his breath. "I knew this would happen. It was only a matter of time. Nova we are packing right now. We will be on our way in twenty. Is he being detained?"

I felt my tears rush. He knew this would happen?

"He's chained with silver at my parents.  Doc, Daisy and Blake are here too. Doc is keeping him tranquilized until we can help him."

He sighed in relief. "Good. Whatever you do.. don't let him escape. I'll drive as fast as I can." He seemed panicked.

"Maxim? Whats happening?" I whispered shakily.

"He's feeling the aftermath of everything thats happened. Remember.. he is stronger than his wolf now. It happened to my father... it happened to Gabriel... and it happened to me. I'll explain when we get there."

"Okay. Thank you." I sighed in relief.

Obviously it happened to Maxim then it can be fixed because hes fine. So is Gabriel. Maximus on the other hand... he bacame... evil.

"Can this be fixed, Maxim?"

There was a moment of silence before his voice came out in a whisper. "I hope so. Sometimes it depends on the wolf."

My heart thudded in my chest hard.

Would my mate be stuck like this forever?

Could I deal with this? Could i be with him like this?

No.

I couldn't.

"Please help him Maxim. Please." I begged on my end of the line.

"Nova ill do everything i can. Im calling Gabriel to meet us there."

I silently prayed to the moon that she would help me conquer this...whatever it was. I had an idea but i didnt truly understand it.

I need to learn to use this power of mine.

Blowing out a breath as soon as we hung up, my fingers traced my brothers name in my contact list.

I guess he needed to know about this as well...

Omg omg omg

Yall dont worry i aint ending this book on a cliff or a horrible ending.

It wil be happy.  I dont believe in ending books on any note but happy.

WHO WOULD WANNA READ A BOOK WHEN IT JUST WILL LEAVE YOU ANGRY AT THE END!!!!

Does anyone know EXACTLY whats wrong? Ive mentioned details but who knows what has happened?

What about Nova? Shes basically a supercharged healer. What will her pups powers be?

Or maybe vica versa what do you wanna see first? Maxims past has a lot to do with this present.
