EPILOGUE

Missing piece

Celine Claire Presley

_____

"Good morning wifey" Alethea said while she's carrying out little girl.

Rumi Chiara Presley Lopez

She's now 4 years old. Time flies so fast, siguro kung hindi ko minadaling ikasal kami ni Alethea maybe until now we don't have a child..

Muka pa naman siyang undecided sa buhay.

"Good morning, Mommy," my little one greeted me with her soft, angelic voice, her tiny arms wrapping around my waist as she looked up at me with bright, innocent eyes.

Ibinaba na pala siya ni Alethea.

A smile drew at my lips, but deep inside, I felt a mix of awe and disbelief. She’s only four years old, yet she speaks so clearly, every word is clear and confident. No trace of the babyish stuttering she once had. It’s incredible—and I know exactly who she got it from.

Alethea.

My chest tightened at the thought of her. Alethea—brilliant, accomplished, and practically perfect. Smart, talented, and ridiculously wealthy, as if the universe conspired to hand her every advantage. Sometimes, it felt like she had everything, and I was just… me. Yet somehow, my little one carried a piece of her—her intelligence, her grace. And every time I saw it, I couldn’t help but feel a bittersweet tug in my heart.

“You’re up early, sweetheart,” I said, brushing a stray curl from her face. Her cheeks were rosy from sleep, and her wide grin was influencing. She reminded me so much of Alethea in those moments—the way her smile lit up the room, the way she effortlessly made everything feel brighter.

“I wanted to see you, Mommy,” she replied, her tiny hands now playing with the hem of my shirt. “Are we going to have pancakes today?”

I let out a soft laugh, the sound mingling with the warmth in my chest. “Of course we are. Anything for my little princess.”

Her giggle filled the room, and for a moment, the ache in my heart faded. This little girl, with her endless curiosity and joy, was a constant reminder of both the challenges and the blessings that came with having a piece of Alethea in my life.

"Let's go baby" I said at sabay naman napangiti ang dalawa.

After we ate breakfast I took a bath habang si Alethea naman ay nagbabantay sa anak namin. Mas close pa silang dalawa kesa saakin.

Tsk.

"Let's go?" she held my hand while she's carrying our baby Rumi

"Where are we going?" I thought she had work.

Sometimes I can't stop her from spoiling Rumi especially when she wanted to. Masyado siyang mapilit and she's making my head ache.

"Kela Mom"

"Are we going to Mommyla?" Rumi asked eagerly, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Alethea turned to her gently, her tone soft but firm, "Baby, what did I tell you about talking when grown-ups are talking?"

I couldn't help but smile at how effortlessly Alethea balanced spoiling Rumi with gentle reminders. It was something I admired deeply about her.

Rumi’s face fell for a moment, and Alethea, always so calm, her voice tender but clear. "Remember, sweetheart, don’t interrupt when grown-ups are talking."

Rumi's lower lip trembled slightly. "I'm sorry, Momma," she whispered, her small hands fidgeting nervously.

Alethea smiled, brushing a stray lock of hair from Rumi's face. "It’s okay, baby. Just a little reminder. Now, let’s go see Mommyla." She took Rumi's hand, squeezing it gently, and the warmth between them filled the air.

I watched them, my heart full of love. This was what I loved most—seeing how Alethea handled everything with such grace, making sure Rumi always felt loved and cared for, even in moments like this.

It's been 4 years but I still can't call her Mom. Medyo nakaka ano.

"Achi!" The little boy's voice echoed with excitement as he sprinted toward us, his small feet barely touching the ground. It was Akiro.

"Hi there, baby boy!" Alethea greeted him with a warm, loving smile. As the three of them—Rumi, Akiro, and Alethea—stood together, they looked like a picture of a close-knit family

"Where's Mom and Mama?" Alethea asked, her tone soft and full of curiosity as she looked down at Akiro.

"In the pool with Achi Yana," Akiro answered, his eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and mischief, before turning to look at Rumi.

"Achi, can we play?" His voice was filled with hope and eagerness, as if the world could come to life in an instant through the simple joy of a game.

Rumi smiled, her hand gently brushing through his hair as she knelt to his level. "Hmm... ask your Achi Celine," she said with a teasing glint in her eyes, patting his head with affection.

"Achi can we play?" he use his pleading eyes

I smiled at him

"Sure, just be careful hmm" he jump in excitement and hug my feet dahil yun lang ang abot niya

He's now 6 years old.

"Wifey I'll just talk to Mom and Mama" paalam sakin ni Alethea and kissed me

They were happily playing, kahit na nagkaron na kami ng babay Rumi,a Alethea still didn't forget him.

"Let's go" she held my hand

"Akiro and Rumi come here" tawag niya dito kaya naman napatigil ito sa pag lalaro at agad na lumapit

"Why po Achi?"

"We're going somewhere" hindi naman nagets ng dalawa ang gusto nitong sabihin pero nag nod nalang sila

Cute.

"Where are we going Love?"

"We'll let them play and have a bonding with them" she answered and I just nood

She brings us to a amusement park pero walang tao kaya nagtataka ko siyang tinignan

"What? I just want them to have a time to enjoy sa lahat ng sulok ng park na to without any hindrance" she unbotheredly said

I mentally facepalm

This is what I mean by spoiling.

"I love you" bulong nito as she slowly lick my earlobe

A playful grin draw on her face.

She's really unpredictable.

Now, it felt as though she had finally found the missing piece of her heart, and that piece was us.
