Nikita POV:
My heart was broken in two when I left the hospital. Manisha Bhabhi gave birth, Dada wouldn't even talk to me. I felt hurt. I know I did hurt them and I deserve this, but it just hurt to see it all in front of me.
I reached home and locked myself in my room, not ready to talk to Esha. When she asked, I just mentioned I saw him and that my past was flashing before my eyes. She understood and let me be.
The next day, I was about to leave for work but I got a call from the doctor that she wanted to see me to explain my medicines. I agreed and called in sick, deciding to work from home.
I got ready in my cargo pants and a full sleeve top, with my hair tied in a clip and minimal makeup, and reached the hospital.
I hope they're gone now. I don't think I can see them again. I entered the hospital and reached my doctor. Once I did, she explained the medicines and I thanked her and made my way out. After putting my medicines in my purse, I was about to leave when I bumped into Ruyash Dada.
My eyes widened. Seriously? It's a working day I didn't think they'd be here.
His wife did give birth bro!
Yeah, but still.
"S..Sir.." I looked down.
I heard him sigh. "I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to ignore you." He held my chin to make me look at him, "I just.... I wanted to let you know that I answer to Ruyash Dada, not Sir."
I felt tears in my eyes. I missed him saying that. I missed calling him that, but I know his brother hates me and I can't tell them our past.
"I..."
"Nikdu. Come with me. I want you to meet Mani."
"Dada, no." I rambled unknowingly.
Oh shit. Why did I give in? I saw a small smile on come his face.
"Why not?"
"I... I can't. I'm sorry." I said and ran away. I prayed he's not following me. I ran and ran until I turned a corner and bumped into Mayukh. Ugh why is my fate so horrible?!
Mayukh POV:
I reached the hospital by around 9am. We didn't go to work today because we wanted to stay with Bhabhi. Bhai was sitting with Bhabhi while I excused myself to go to Dr Rozina. I wanted to know what was going on with Nikita.
"Hello doctor." I said, entering.
"Oh Mr Mayukh. Good Morning. What a beautiful surprise. How can I help you? She asked as I sat.
"I'd like to ask about your patient Nikita, Nikita Joshi."
"Oh Sir, we aren't exactly allowed to give out information."
"She's.... She's my wife. We've been separated for a year and I met her here and it's gotten me alarmed. I have a picture with her for proof." I showed her a picture of Ruyash Bhai's reception night, the picture of Bruno, Nikita and I.
"Oh right. I'll tell you Sir."
"Please."
"So you may or may not be aware but it seems like she had a burn mark above her waist. It seems like an old injury."
"Yes, I had it treated using the Arencia cream."
She nodded, "Yes Sir, so that cream did its job. The mark is entirely gone it's as good as new however that only cured the surface part of it."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that the injury seemed intense, her inner muscle had gotten a bit affected because of it. The cream does help to cure and allow the muscle to self heal however in her case it's not entirely healed, so for the last few months she's been having bad pains in her body, around that area, if that wounded muscle touches nearby muscles."
"Oh."
She's having to go through so much and I didn't even know.
"It's not too late yet. I've given her pills to help speed the process of healing so the muscle is good as new and there's been progress, however due to her lifestyle it's not speeding up."
"Her lifestyle? meaning?"
"She works so she travels to work everyday, which is almost 30 mins of public transport, walking etc, then she lives with a friend so they both have split the work of cleaning and cooking so she's involved there as well. At a time like this, she needs to calm down, that's the best way. If she's able to bed rest or at least just keep the movement to a minimal, that's perfect. No need to necessarily bed rest, keep the muscle active but just minimally. Just basic movement like long walks are fine because the body posture is okay, however the hustle of public transport, then sitting standing inconsistency, that's all damaging for her."
I listened carefully to the doctor. Why doesn't this girl ever take care of herself?
"I've told her so many times Doctor, to take care but she clearly has a case of hyper independence!" I chuckled slowly.
"She does."
We stayed in silence for a second, "Well thank you doctor. I'll try my best to get her to relax."
"Sir if you don't mind me asking, how long has it been since you separated? And married?"
Married... it's been almost two years since our marriage, since that night.
"Umm it's... it's been almost 2 years since our marriage but, we separated a year ago."
"She's a sweet girl, but she always seems very scared and sad. I've tried asking her, I've tried recommending her a psychologist, but she claims she's okay and moves on, but I can tell she's not."
"That's partially my fault as well. I'm gonna make it up to her. We had a few misunderstandings and she left, but destiny got us in the same city again so let's see."
"She's a lovely girl, I hope you two get back together as soon as possible."
I hope so too, Doctor.
"Thank you Doctor. I'll take your leave now."
I got up and left her room and was about to make my way to Bhai when someone bumped into me. I grabbed onto them and realized it was Nikita.
"Nikita? What are you doing here again? Are you okay?"
"I... I'm fine." She said, trying to get away from my grip.
Her figure looked so good. She looked so hot.
Not now Mayukh.
But she really looked hot.
"Where are you coming from?" I asked, while she tried to fix her hair.
I pulled her close and opened her hair, her hair elegantly undraping itself and flowing freely. I've barely seeing her hair untied. She always keeps it tied. She noticed her hair untied and instantly reached out for her clip, I hid it behind my waist.
"Can I... please?" She asked.
"Please what?" I teased.
"I need my clip."
"Then come get it."
I saw her hesitate.
"Come on." I said, coming closer.
"I... I'll go now." She said and tried running away when I grabbed her hand and brought her closer.
"Meet your nephew then go, Chachi."
Her eyes widened.
She looked heavenly man! Her open hair with a few strands resting on her face, her skin tight white full sleeves t- shirt and black cargo pants highlighted her figure so well. Her cute nose ring and her kajal adorned eyes with matte subtle lipstick. She looked beautiful. Too kissable right now.
Maybe even more than that...
Shut up.
"I... I can't.."
"Why not? He's your nephew."
"Please Sir, let me go."
I felt heavy again as she called me that. How many times have I asked her not to call me that? I grabbed her hand tightly and pulled her close, "If you call me Sir again, you won't like what I'll do to you."
"M...Meaning?" Her eyes screaming fear.
"Meaning," I said, putting my hand around her waist, "We'll have to pray we're not here after 9 months like Bhabhi." I looked at her.
Her eyes become wide as she realised and she instantly looked down.
"Please... let... let me go..."
"Not again. You did your zidd once and left, now it's my time for my zidd."
She was shaking. Why's she so scared of me?
"Come." I held her hand and I felt her following me despite trying to break free, "don't try to break free."
We reached in front of Bhabhi's room. I brought her next to me and smiled, tucking a few strands of her behind her ear. I knew she was scared. "Don't be scared. They won't bite." She looked at me and then looked down when she saw me looking. I held her hand.
I opened the door, "Bhai, Bhabhi, I have a surprise for you.
Bhabhi was on the bed with the baby in her hand as she cuddled him, while Bhai sat on the couch next to her, silently smiling and watching his wife and son. They both turned to me.
"What?" Bhabhi asked.
I smiled and slowly brought Nikita in by bringing my arm closer. She stood behind me and I moved a little so the door closed and she came a little to my right, so she's behind me but still visible to Bhai and Bhabhi.
I noticed her hand tightening around me without her realizing, I knew she's scared. I saw Bhabhi's face change into a gleaming smile as Bhai also looked very happy.
"Nikita...." Bhabhi said, and Nikita looked at her slowly.
"Ruyash, help me... sit..." she gave the baby, while he slowly was crying, to Bhai and sat herself down properly, resting but leaning against the bed rest. She smiled.
"Ruyash, try to calm him please. Nikita. Come here." She said, slowly observing how scared she is. She patted on the bed next to her.
I let go off Nikita's hand.
She took slow steps towards Bhabhi and sat on the bed, in front of her.
"How are you Niki?" She asked, putting her hand over Nikita's.
"G...Good."
"Why don't you seem good then? Are you okay?"
"Yeah... I'm... I'm fine."
"Ruyash..." she turned to Bhai, "let Nikita hold him. I want him to meet hisâ"
She looked at us to confirm as we both looked alert. I slowly shook my head, indicating no and she looked at Bhai, who did the same. I don't want Nikita knowing that Bhai and Bhabhi knew, she'd get even more scared.
"I want him to meet his masi." She completed and I relaxed.
Bhai came forward to Nikita, who looked shocked.
"No... I.. I don't think I... I can..."
"Of course you can, come." Bhai said.
I came closer to Nikita while she slowly took the baby, with shaking hands.
"Here." I said and brought my hands under Nikita's, to support her so she can hold the baby confidently. I wanted to stabilize her shaking hands. I looked at Bhai and Bhabhi, who were looking at us lovingly. Bhabhi looked at me and smiled and gestured with her eyes, indicating that 'this is what I want for you.'
"He's... beautiful." She said, looking at Bhai and Bhabhi.
"I'd like to take credit for that then." Bhabhi teased and chuckled. I saw a small smile come on Nikita's face.
I saw Nikita cradle him slowly and bring him close to her. He slowly relaxed and stopped crying.
"Wow. She did in 1 minute what we couldn't do for 10 minutes." Bhabhi chuckled.
"He likes you Nikdu." Bhai said. I saw Nikita's face get alert and sad. She looked at him, faked a small smile and then looked back down. Her eyes were not steady they kept moving. She was clearly nervous. Her eyes went back to the baby.
Bhai and Bhabhi noticed too. They noticed her smile not the same as before. They noticed her getting alert whenever they called her by her nickname. Bhabhi looked sadly to Nikita, who was cradling the baby. Ruyash Bhai pressed Bhabhi's shoulder lightly and she looked at him as he slowly whispered, "we'll bring her back." They then looked at me and I nodded, assuring her.
"I... I'll leave now..." Nikita said and tried to get up but was put back in place when she realized that the baby had grabbed her hair and was holding her tightly.
"Masi, you can't leave him now." Bhabhi chuckled.
I felt Nikita get uncomfortable. Is she okay? What was happening to her?
I suddenly remembered the doctor's words, 'don't let her sit in one position for too long, unless it's upright.'
I noticed her position. She was sitting weirdly. Oh. She must be having a muscle pain, that's why her face was.... I looked at her and she looked like she's holding in tears and was in pain.
I instantly let go off her hair from the baby's grasp and gave him to Bhabhi, who got startled by my action. I then grabbed Nikita's hand and started walking out.
"Mayukh... what happened?" I heard Bhabhi say and I heard Bhai follow us.
We reached outside and I saw Nikita unable to stand. She was shaking and almost had tears in her closed eyes. She was sitting and holding the chair tightly. I went on my knees and held her hand.
"Hey. Hey. What happened? Are you fine?"
"Nikita!" Bhai said and ran towards us, he held her shoulder. "What happened to her?"
I saw her slowly getting back to normal. Her breaths becoming normal, her body language relaxing. The pain must have subsided. She looked at me with her tear filled eyes and my heart sank.
"Nikita..." I said.
She looked at Bhai and me and suddenly got up.
"Th..thank... you... I'll.. I'll go.. Sorry." And before I knew it, she started running away.
"Nikita!" Bhai yelled, "Mayukh... go after her."
I hurried and found her sitting in an cab before I could get to her. I hit the wall in anger, "Shit."
