Chapter 37 (I hate you)

Kate's prov

He said it wasn't a date but this whole set up....? Well it's beautiful but this is not right, Anna is supposed to be here not me she deserves all this...but this wasn't planned, was it ?

"Like what you see" Jake mocked me

"No... I don't." I replied flatly and turned towards the manager.

"We can wait for a normal table." I said to the manager.

"But ma'am, it can take a while." He told me

"It's okay, we can look around till then" I smiled

"Umm.....let's take a look around then, shall we ?" Jake asked me

"Yup..."

We started walking around and observing things here....this restaurant is always booked yet management is perfect,  everything is just smooth and peaceful. Jake stopped and leaned over a wall with one hand in his pocket and other scratching his neck, he looked at me smiling... I raised my eyebrows at him.

"What ?" I asked him

"Ummmmmm.......nothing"

"Then what's with that look?"

"What look?"

"you know 'I want to say something but I am nervous' look" I teased him

"I don't get nervous and if I want to talk to you I will. Why would I get nervous? "

"Okay....then say it"

"Say what? I don't have anything to say to you"

"Okay then let's not waste our time and note important stuff about this place."

"I am not in the mood for that right now"

"Very well...then what do we do?" I raised brows and pretended to think keeping my hand below my chin.

"You are cute" he murmured

"What?" I asked him shocked

"What? " jake copied my reaction

"What did you just say?"

"What did I say?"

"Jake...." I said frustrated

"KATE" he obviously mocked me

"JAKE " I said started getting angry

"KATE" he copied me

"I HATE YOU SOO MUCH" I said annoyed

"AND I love that soo much" he winked at me and mimicked my tone.

I stopped talking and just stared at him, without blinking just giving him the 'back off' look. Jake is chuckling but soon he will stop

"Are you trying to scare me because it's not working" jake continued mocking

I didn't reply just continued looking at him straight in the eyes.  I know Jake, it's going to work, he easily gets scared of me. I will just have to wait.....that's all.

"Awww....kate you look so cute when you're angry" he said in annoying girly tone. God! Why boys even try girly tones it's so annoying.

"Kate...?"

No reply... I just looked away like he's not here

"Hey look, I was just kidding." He straighten and came closer to me.

I just diverted my attention and pretend that I am not looking at him at all.

"I am sorry kate" he said and actually meant it.

"It's okay."

"You didn't mean it right? " he asked me

"No...it's okay obviously I know you were kidding" I assured him

"Not that."

"Then....what are you talking about?"

"When you said that you hate me. You didn't mean it...right?" Jake asked me seriously

No I didn't and that was just stupid he was annoying me that time, that's why I said it but he really seems to care about that.

"Please answer me kate" he looked at me expectedly

"I....I was,"

"Excuse me sir, your table is ready." The waiter suddenly appeared

We both broke our eye contact and moved to our table. Jake pulled out a seat for me, then took his seat. We got our menu's and I started looking through it for avoiding any conversation. I don't know what I feel right now but it's wrong,  whatever it is....it's just wrong.

"Hello, I am liam. I'll be at your service this evening. Can I get you something for now?" a waiter asked politely.

We both ordered and again silence was filled, jake kept staring at me like he wants something but can't ask for it.

"When I stopped and you asked me if I have something to say and I said no. I was lying. "

I looked at him with confusion and before I could think I already replied

"I knew you were lying"

"how?"

"because it was obvious that you wanted to say something"

"I wanted to ask you something"

"what?"

"Why didn't you prefer that table, it was nice and available"

"Simple.....because it's not date and we're not even friends....having dinner there would have made it seemed like a date and I don't want to have any kind of misunderstandings here." I replied confidently

"Ya...of course. " his dullest smile was plastered over his face

"Why you snapped at me when I told Zach that we're friends? "

"Because we're not."

"But we should be... because we have to work together for the project,  also we're classmates and then...."

He stopped me in between raising his hand he said...

"That's no reason to be friends, just because we are classmates doing work on same project it doesn't means we should be friends. We should and we want to.... are two different things kate. I hope you understand." He said seriously.

He does have a point but then it also means that he doesn't want to be friends with me and obviously I want to.

"It doesn't means that I don't want your friendship but let's take it slow,  okay?" He asked me.

Oh my god...!did I say that out loud. ...?

"Ummmm...ya sure" I said feeling embarrassed.  It's like fifth time he's hearing me talking to myself.  Now we all know why he's not friends with me yet...! Huh!

"You're talking to yourself again. Aren't you?" He asked me chuckling

"No....pfft...! Who does that? Oh... my god I am hungry. Let's order something. " I tried changing the topic

"Kate." He called me

"Umm..ya ?"

"We ordered already"

"I know" I didn't....I forgot,  shit this is wierd.

Jake leaned a bit closer to me furrowed his brows "Are you drunk?"

"No...but I am hungry and I think we should order something else too." I said making the situation worst but I ain't gonna accept that I was talking to myself in front of him.

"You do know that you're wierd right?" He raised his eyebrows and folded his arms across his chest.

"Nope...but you wouldn't hesitate to tell me that, right?" I said annoyingly sweet tone

"Ya....and for the record, don't use that kind of voice with me" he scrunched his face

"Why....is it annoying Jake?" I mocked him in the same tone

"No." He said flaty

"Aww....then does it make you angry?" I teased him in the same tone

"No" he said avoiding eye contact.

"You're getting mad at me. Right?" I am sure getting on his nerves with this tone

"Noo." He said through greeted teeth

"Then....why shouldn't I use it? Isn't it sweet" I mocked him again

"No actually it's too cute and when you use that I feel like kissing you. So you do it again and I'll kiss you right here." He completed his sentence dead serious. I started having a panic attack.

"I......Ahem....I just...no..what?" I stammered and cleared my throat after every word so that voice doesn't make it's way out of my stupid mouth.

"You heard me. Say like that again and I'll kiss you for real. I have been thinking about it since you started talking like that but once again and I'll do it."  He said....no sign that he's kidding or he's serious.

I gulped before avoiding my eyes contact with him, looked around and busied myself in writing the details of this place.

I jumped in my seat when the waiter came with our orders "Here's your order mam, sir." He said and then look at me after placing it on table and said

"I am sorry if I scared you mam."

"it's okay...you can leave us alone for now." Jake interrupted rudely

"Sure." Was all he said and left.

"Here, eat....you were hungry right?"

"And you're what my boss? " I snapped at him.

"What's with you? " he asked like he really didn't know anything

"Like you don't know already"

"What? Say it"

"Well...I am not one of your employees so don't tell me what to do and what not to."

"Okay. I won't but why are you mad at me?"

"I am not mad at you "

"You are."

"Kate?"

"What?"

"Sorry"

"For what?"

"I don't know but for whatever I did wrong"

"You are unbelievable....Argh...!!"

"Maybe I am but come on I was kidding about kissing you.....it can't happen and you know that" he said calmly

"welI...i wouldn't even let you" I said furiously

"I know that. You already mentioned that you hate me" he used his stern voice

"Oh...believe me I really really hate you....." I said proudly but then.....it's a lie.
