Chapter 35: A Message

Cat Eyes: Sirius [Book 1]

Marien's POV

I woke up with his caresses and met his beautiful feline eyes. I was more than happy, waking up next to my young husband, skin-to-skin, just as it must have been from the beginning.

"I must come back," he whispered after giving me a sweet kiss. "I wish I could stay here forever, though."

"Me too." I gave him one more kiss.

I moved to get out of bed and get the birth control pill in my little wallet, which I had to take now, just in case, and another for the pain. Those didn't interfere with each other. I made sure of it. I wasn't so sore anymore but didn't want to worry him.

After taking them, I realized that Sirius had followed me with his eyes, and then he saw something else. I turned to find out he was looking at the mirror wall. I approached, blushing, when I saw myself there naked. It surprised me there were still scratches, but it was no big deal.

Sirius came and hugged me, pressing my back against his warm chest. He looked over my body in the mirror, and I suddenly blushed more, feeling a little bit of shame, but his gaze was unique. There was no malice in it. His eyes gleamed that deep green in the daylight. He stared at my body for a few more seconds before landing his beautiful, feline eyes on mine.

"Are you still in pain?"

I smiled reassuringly at him.

"Yes, but I'll be fine. I just took the pill, and it's one of the best."

He smiled and leaned down to brush his nose across my neck and up my ear until he buried it in my hair, pressing me against his body and purring under his breath like a big cat. I closed my eyes and smiled. I loved it.

"I think we smell the same," he whispered.

I saw the clock.

"I want to shower with you, so we also save time, shall we?"

"As you say, miss," he said with that mischievous and adorable smile.

I took him to the bathroom by the hand. We brushed our teeth in the double sink between playing and laughing.

When I finished, I turned and wrapped my arms around his neck, leaning up and kissing his smooth, delicious lips. The impulses pierced me again when I felt my bare chest pressed against his, and he squeezed me hard. It felt so warm, comforting, and intimate as if some invisible barrier had been broken, and now, we were indeed one. I didn't think I could ever have something like that with someone else.

His heat flooded me. I realized that the pain pill was already working and that my desire for him had not faded. My kiss became more passionate. I gasped in anticipation and pulled him back, taking us out of the bathroom. I smiled in a naughty and hot way, running my hands over that statuesque chest, going lower and grabbing his intimacy, making him growl low while biting my lip. He was ready again and as eager as I was. He ran to the edge of the small sofa and fell into a sitting position.

I got on him and gasped, possessing him again. I hadn't finished the night before, but I hadn't cared. The sensation bomb had stunned me, but now, skin to skin, with him devouring, gently touching me, trapped between my legs, and filling me, I ended up exploding for the first time. I tangled his hair with my hands, feeling he was the center of my universe.

I put my forehead to his, breathing a little shaken, and laughed, embarrassed but extremely satisfied. I was flushed from my rapturous attack. He spread kisses down my face.

"Humm. I'm sorry," I murmured, holding back laughter, "but you are delicious." I gave him another kiss.

He grinned widely.

"Hey, I made you happy."

I laughed again, remembering that I had told him that the moaning woman was happy that time in the hotel.

"My Sirius, mine, only mine," I gasped against his lips.

"And you are mine too."

"Come on. I don't want you to be late." I planted another kiss on him and then slowly pulled away to take him back to the bathroom.

We took a shower, going over our bodies with the soap again, between knowing smiles and kisses.

***

I bit my lip when I remembered the night. My heart had accelerated. What a man I had. In the end, I had to go to the car holding my blouse with my hands since some buttons were missing, and my bra no longer snagged. I had not been bothered by that. However, he apologized several times while I was chuckling.

When we got to the hospital, we quickly went to our room to get dressed. I said goodbye to him with another soft and intense kiss and went to the laboratory while I felt like flying. There was no way to love him more than I did now.

"I see you extremely happy," said Rosy, pulling me out of my thoughts and looking at me suspiciously.

"Well, yes, I am happy," I replied.

"You've had a lot of sex, right?" she curious whispered.

"Girls, please," Marcus muttered.

I sighed.

"How has the laboratory been?" I asked, trying to push the blush aside.

"You have a couple of scratches on your chin..." Rosy added with a mischievous smile.

I pulled away a bit more, feigning nonchalance before she saw the ones near my ear and on my neck.

"Yes, it is nothing."

The girl whistled in surprise and turned to get on with her business. I sighed again, trying to get the heat off my cheeks.

I leaned my elbows on the table and thought for a few minutes, getting lost. A smile escaped me, and I bit my lower lip again as I felt the memory of his kisses and gasps of pleasure down my neck as his body burned over mine. All the sensations still throbbed in me.

I shook my head. Marcus would kill me if I didn't finish seeing how the Evolved's white blood cells reacted to three more diseases. I sighed. What silly studies we were commissioned to do.

Again, my head busied itself, thinking about making sure there were no more fights and living in peace with Sirius. If I went with him to his city just like that, the possibility that humans would destroy it one day would not be averted, plus Orion didn't give any signal of rendition. If I continued with him here, he would continue with the National Security Guard, and when we went out, he would have to hide his appearance.

Maybe I should continue with my attempt to lead the life I wanted with him being here without waiting. If the governor were also among those corrupt, I wouldn't get anywhere, at least not soon.

***

After finishing the day, I went to the hospital's back exit. I moved forward to see the training ground more closely, with Rosy following me as always. We passed the vegetation surrounding the fence and stayed looking.

Sirius and the other evolved men were close. He turned and smiled at me. I blushed immediately; he looked radiant, but it was not just that. He was the boy who had seen me completely naked, to whom I gave myself twice without any shame. He had seen me climax. What would he think of me now? He had told me once that I seemed innocent to him. Would he believe otherwise after tonight?

I felt my face. It was almost red hot. How ashamed I felt. I already knew about those things for being human, but he was pure, probably even in thought, and I had just corrupted him. I shook my head.

"You're good?" Rosy asked, concerned.

"Y-yeah, just... I have to sit down." I took a deep breath.

I sat and hugged my knees, trying to calm down. It was not so bad. We were married. We were one, and I would give myself to him whenever we wanted. I assumed that, in their world, they were being told that it was only for reproductive purposes. He had not asked me exactly what we had done yet, but he wouldn't take long since he was still wondering about the kids.

What would I say? It was for having children but didn't want to have them yet? Oh man, I didn't even know if we could have kids.

"You're worrying me, girl," said my friend sitting beside me.

I took a deep breath. I had forgotten about that detail. It only remained to see how he would take it. What if he hated me? I took another deep breath. No, he would not hate me, but what if I hurt him? That was most likely.

"Um..." I complained worriedly. "I'm just a little tense."

She would not understand.

"Relax, there is a solution for everything," Rosy replied. "You know? Acrux waved at me; didn't you see?"

"Uh, no... sorry."

"He greeted me with a wave of his hand, and that's it," she said with a slight smile. "It will be because we always come to see them, although, of course... you have a reason."

She looked slightly excited. I smiled. I had not noticed anything since Sirius's smile made me lose myself. What a lousy friend I was.

"You see?" I said, smiling. "If you want to befriend him, it's only a matter of time."

The evolved men were in position. Perhaps they would run again. I got distracted by seeing a crane holding a net about a quarter mile down to the ground. I wondered what it was for. The sound of a gunshot startled me, and they all started running.

I smiled, seeing that Sirius was still the fastest, but my smile faded as Acrux caught up with him in seconds and pushed him, knocking him over. One of the big brothers also fell because of Sirius. I couldn't tell which of the two brothers it was at this distance. They both got up quickly, picking up speed in seconds.

That fall must have hurt, but it didn't seem to have affected them. Sirius overtook the two brothers, and I was dying to encourage him. Acrux was about to go up to the net, but Sirius jumped and nabbed it before the blonde guy; he began to climb at full speed, retaking advantage. If an evolved like he was chasing me, I could take me for dead.

The crane moved, moving the net with it. That didn't stop them, and they continued to climb like wild cats despite the wavy movement the net was taking. I would kill Max if something happened to my Sirius. But why was I scared? He had fallen from a greater height, carrying me. But still.

Sirius made it to the end, and to my surprise, he started running down the crane arm, which was quite tilted. Max appeared in my field of vision and signaled the person manipulating the machine. The man moved the mechanic arm with more force, causing Sirius to lose his balance and fall. I stood up, shocked, but was relieved to see that he had held onto the metal.

"You're very distracted, huh? Haughty boy in love!" Max yelled at him through a megaphone.

He would pay me for that! I regretted asking Sirius to ask Max if he could help us get more information about what happened to my parents that day.

As Max sermonized Sirius, Acrux stepped forward. My boy quickly climbed onto the metal arm and continued running downhill. I snorted. What was the point of all this? Acrux jumped to the ground and was greeted by Max with a shot, making him fall.

I got scared again. After a few seconds, Sirius touched the ground and rolled, dodging the other bullet from Max. Was he crazy? I was relieved again to see Acrux rise to his feet, unharmed. Sirius was running, taking cover from the shots with the obstacles, until he managed to get close to Max, but he hit the last shot, making him fall.

The two brothers hit the ground and stayed there. Sirius stood up and dusted himself off. Max started to say something to them, but I couldn't hear well since he was no longer using the speaker. I only detected the word 'disappointed.'

Sirius was staring at me. Max looked at me, too, and suggested I come.

"Does he want us to go there?" Rosy asked as she got to her feet.

"Yes... it seems..."

I was concerned. Maybe Max would be annoyed by the poor performance, although running downhill in a narrow object was impressive enough. Perhaps he would tell me that we were distracting them or something.

I started to walk around the field. Meanwhile, I saw Max making signs to Sirius and Acrux, who shrugged and approached Sirius. I was surprised and stopped when I saw that he had jumped at him as they began to fight. Acrux fell with a crash but stood up as lithe as a feline and struck Sirius in the stomach.

I kept moving forward. I didn't know that Max really made them fight each other, but I blamed my clumsiness. That they fought was a fact, and I should have assumed it. Sirius whirled around, kicking Acrux sideways and knocking him down again.

"Hey, he's hurting Acrux," Rosy complained.

"It's not my fault," I exclaimed, confused by her attitude.

Rosy and I ran to the entrance of the building. We saw Max's soldiers taking the weapons from their belts and gathering them. We went to the training ground, and Acrux and Sirius struggled and growled. Sirius saw me and earned an elbow to the temple for being distracted. I covered my mouth full of guilt.

"Oh no..." I mumbled as I ran up to him.

"Hey, don't interrupt!" Max ordered.

"You shut up!" I replied and took Sirius's face. "Sorry I distracted you."

He smiled and denied it.

"Don't worry. It takes more than that to hurt me, you know it."

Max approached.

"He ran away yesterday; did you think I wouldn't take it out on him?" the guy complained.

"I asked him to accompany me to see an issue!" I answered, annoyed.

"Oh, by the way," he continued without paying attention to my attitude. "I don't know if the distracted one told you that, apparently, they didn't get any information from your cell phones..." He stared at me and narrowed his eyes. "No. I see he didn't tell you because you let me speak without interrupting."

"I was going to tell her, but things happened, and I forgot," Sirius replied.

I blushed when I remembered the things that happened.

"Ah!" Max exclaimed, making me react. "As for your parents..." He patted me on the shoulder a couple of times. "We'll find out what happens." He walked away. "By the way, this morning we attacked the other security building, the closer one, do you remember? I need to ask you a favor."

"Huh?"

"Follow me..."

I looked at Sirius from head to toe. He seemed intact, so everything had gone according to his plan. Out of the corner of my eye, Rosy was distracted, chatting with Acrux.

I picked up my pace, walked beside Max as he spoke, and led me to the second level.

"Apparently, they have been undoing the evidence. We only found about three evolved, which we released this time, except for one girl."

"Did you say a girl?" I asked, confused.

He raised an eyebrow, stopped before a door, and opened it. Upon entering, I saw a girl lying on a stretcher. Her hair was black. I could have sworn she was human if it were not for the pointy nails. She was asleep and looked about eighteen or maybe a little younger.

"They were draining her blood to see how long she could hold," Max explained as he came in behind me. "We were on time, so I didn't think a transfusion was necessary."

"Wow, that's horrible," I barely muttered.

I felt sorry for her, but she would surely recover soon.

"She was semi-conscious when your Sirius carried her." I looked at him, and he smirked. "And apparently, she knew him," he added, raising an eyebrow again.

I was somewhat surprised and confused. Why did he say it that way? What was the problem if she knew him? Or did he want to see if I would get jealous? I shrugged my shoulders.

"Yes, sure. He has also had a life and friends," I said calmly.

He shrugged, too.

"Anyway, since you know about medicine and evolved people, keep an eye on her."

"Huh?"

"You better be here than distracting your wild and undisciplined EH," he sermonized me lightly as he headed for the door.

"Watch your words."

He turned around, smiling, and winked at me.

"Easy, pretty. I don't want you to distract me either."

I frowned in annoyance.

"Nobody tells you to look at me," I complained. "And you shouldn't either. I'm married!" I added as he walked out the door laughing.

He stopped and mocked, "Oh, come on, everyone knows that women like you go crazy over guys like me."

I huffed.

"I'm sorry to tell you that in real life, women like me are looking for good men."

"As good as a savage that is not your species? As if it were possible," he scoffed again. "He better not run away because of you one more time." He finally left.

I crossed my arms and sat bolt down on a chair close to the gurney. I took a deep breath to calm myself.

I detected a movement and looked at the girl. I realized that she had moved her arm a little. She shook her head while frowning and tightening her lips.

"Sirius," she whispered.

I was surprised and bothered, too. Was she dreaming about my Sirius? The girl shook her head again, looking at the wall, and opened her eyes. I stood up, remembering that she would be disoriented and confused. She was also an EH, and I didn't know how she would react or if she wanted to attack me.

The girl turned to look at me. Her eyes' irises were light blue, like Ursa's. She had not yet gone through the transitional stage, in which they looked human for a while.

"Sirius?" she asked, looking at me with some concern.

"Uh..."

"Human, he is here. I can smell him on you," she assured, looking at me confused.

The girl was still weak.

"Yes, he is here. But for now, you cannot move," I explained in a reassuring tone. "You must rest and wait for your blood level to improve..."

"Can you... tell him to come?" she asked still weakly. "I need to see him."

I was silent for a few seconds. What was her hurry? What was Sirius to her?

"Well... I'll see if he can come."

"Yes, go. He will not refuse," she commented very confidently.

I frowned a little and went looking for Sirius. Questions filled my mind.

I went out to the training ground, and my sight went straight to my young EH, who was already looking at me, having detected my scent. He approached me, his eyebrows knitting slightly in a gesture of mild concern. Max and the others turned to look, too, when they saw that Sirius had left them talking alone.

"Something happened?" he asked.

I relaxed my face to disappear the expression I was unaware of having put on.

"Your friend wants to see you..." I commented although I couldn't sound relatively as calm as I wanted.

Max coughed, drowning out his laughter. Perfect. Now, he was teasing me. Maybe that was what he wanted: to see me upset. Sirius cocked his face, somewhat confused; I didn't know if it was because of my strange tone or because his friend wanted to see him.

He advanced, inviting me to go with him. We continued walking, climbed the stairs, and moved to the girl's room.

She waited, looked towards the door, and smiled when she saw Sirius. It was a slight smile because of her condition, but her happiness was evident. Sirius looked at her thoughtfully.

"Symphony," he muttered.

What? Symphony? Great. Another EH with a strange and superior name from EH. I crossed my arms, looked to the side, and realized Max had followed us. He frowned.

"It's good that I found you..." the girl said weakly to my husband.

"I think I was the one who found you," Sirius corrected, raising his eyebrows slightly.

"Thank you," she replied almost in a whisper, closed her eyes for a few seconds, opened them, and looked at the ceiling. "Orion..." I tensed when I heard that name. "I heard him say that he wanted you to surrender, or he would come for you the day and in the way you least expected." She looked at Sirius again, distraught now. "He said you were in this city, and I could not do more than escape and come looking for you... worried about you." Orion was sending indirect threats again. Sirius had not changed his expression. "It was very likely that he knew I was listening in the crowd, but I didn't care."

"Yes, and it was also very likely that he did it knowing that at least someone would come looking for me," Sirius continued, "knowing that maybe you would die and somehow I would find out. And if not, as just happened, you will give me that message."

"Why is he looking for you now?" Her voice had broken.

"You shouldn't have come. If we had not intervened in that place just today, you would be dead ", he criticized her coldly.

It reminded me of the coldness with which he spoke to Ursa then. He talked to me similarly when I risked my life to hide the toxin when that evolved man broke into the laboratory. He practically ordered me not to do it again. Well, it was not that bad... But maybe that meant he cared a lot about her?

"How do you want me not to come to warn you? You always took care of me." The girl squeezed the sheets with her claws. "Until Ursa started telling everyone about her compromise with you, and I couldn't see you anymore."

In his world, displays of affection were forbidden, but Sirius had cared for this girl somehow, and she fell in love, too. Not only that, but I realized that everyone in his city had genuinely known he would join Ursa. I tensed a bit from what the girl had said.

Max came up to me.

"I think we should go out; this is getting a little problematic," he whispered.

Sirius glanced over his shoulder at us. "You don't have to go, Marien," he said.

Max raised his hands a little in surrender.

"Exit sign," the guy muttered and left.

Sirius looked back at Symphony. "You don't owe me anything. I want you to recover and go home," he ordered.

"Why? Is there a problem if I stay?" She glanced at me, perhaps uncomfortable with my presence. She looked up at the ring on Sirius's hand and then at his eyes. "You joined Ursa then."

"No..."

"No?"

"That does not concern you. I'm sorry," he said, becoming a little more serious. I had my hands back, and I didn't move them. Who knows what she would say? I had enough with Max saying that ours was something strange. "Now, you must be a good girl and rest." He took a couple of steps back, coming to my side.

"It was good to see you, after all, Sirius. After such a long time," the girl murmured with some sadness. I gulped; she could not hide her feelings as much as Ursa did. Would Sirius realize? "Seeing that you are already someone fulfilled... Do not undo your family by giving your life to Orion; do not make her suffer, whoever she is. Besides, I would also suffer."

Sirius raised his eyebrows slightly, undoing his serious expression.

"I'm already warned, so don't worry. Thanks. I'll see how you are later." He looked at me. "Let's go?"

I nodded, somewhat disturbed, and we left. I had questions to ask him and wanted to take advantage of these few minutes alone. Being near the stairs, I took his hand gently, stopping so that he stopped, too. He did and looked at me.
