Chapter 104
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
Chapter 104: Theo I collapsed beside her on the bed, holding her to me, our breathing ragged and heavy. Despite the pleasure I was feeling, I couldnât help thinking about how close I came to marking her. Knowing she wanted me made it harder to resist. And Kieran wasnât any help.
I didnât know how much longer I could hold out.
âAyla,â I whispered.
âHmm...â she hummed.
âDo you think youâll be able to talk to Kylee before the Alpha ceremony?â I asked, my fingers trailing along her arm.
âProbably,â she murmured sleepily. âThe sooner, the better, I suppose. Why?â
âBecause I want it to be your ceremony, too.â
She pushed up, looking at me with a confused expression that was so da*n adorable.
âWhat are you talking about?â she asked.
I chuckled. âI want it to be your Luna ceremony,â I clarified. âAnd my Alpha ceremony. And our mating ceremony. Everything. I donât want to spread it all out. I want us to start the next part of our lives together.
â
âCan we even do that?â
âIf youâre ready for it,â I said, brushing her hair back. âJust think about 0.00%

The ceremony was only three weeks away, but I didnât care what it took to make the changes happen. If Ayla said she wanted it, it would happen. But it was all up to her. I just had to pray that Kylee wouldnât try to hurt her for this.
âMaybe I should come with you,â I suggested. âWe can talk to her together. Or I can talk to her. This is all my fault for being with her in the first place.â
Ayla hugged my chest but shook her head. âNo, I need to do this. But thank you.â
She snuggled closer. We were both exhausted, and I started to drift off, completely content with my mateâs head on my chest and her leg draped over my waist.
âWhat time is it?â Ayla asked before I fell asleep.
âHmm? Iâm not sure,â I replied. âAfter midnight, at least.â
She let out a deep sigh. âYou should probably go,â she said sadly. âWe wonât be avoiding any rumors if youâre caught leaving my rooms in the morning.â
âWe wonât be avoiding rumors if Iâm caught leaving in the middle of the night,â I teased. âBut youâre right. We may have to stay away from each other for the next few days to make this work.â
I hated the thought of it. My chest tightened painfully at not being able to be with Ayla now. But I knew it would be necessary.
âI know,â she agreed. âAll my stuff is still at the lake house anyway. I might need to stay there.â

âWill we?â she teased.
My lips twitched up and I kissed her hair. âYeah, after what weâve been through already, this will be a piece of cake.â
Ayla laughed. âIf you say so. But you should still go.â
âShh,â I said. âIâll leave after youâre asleep.â
She didnât protest. It didnât take long, and I know I stayed longer than I needed to, but I couldnât feel bad about it. I tucked her under the covers and somehow found the strength to leave, heading to my own room in the next wing. When I made it back, I sensed someone inside.
I opened the door. âDad?â
My father was sitting in the armchair near the small bookcase. He was looking at a framed picture he was holding. I was initially worried, but his energy felt calm, peaceful even.
âEverything okay, Dad?â
âHave you fixed it?â he asked without looking up.
âFixed what?â I replied, confused.
âI know about you and Ayla,â he replied calmly. âI thought something was going on, but I didnât want to hope.â
âDad, I... How?â I questioned.

âYeah,â I confirmed happily. âIt was her.â
âI asked your mother if she knew anything,â he said, giving me a stern look. âShe wouldnât tell me much. Only that the situation got messy and you were fixing it. So, did you fix it?â
I grinned. âYeah, Dad. I fixed it,â I said. âWell, most of it. The most important part.â
He smiled at me. âSo, do I have a new daughter-in-law?â
Maughed, taking a seat across from him. âNot just yet,â I said. âBut soon. We have a couple things to take care of first.â
â
âI promised your mother I wouldnât ask what happened,â he said. âAnd I wonât. All that matters is that you and Ayla found each other.â
I nodded, grateful he didnât push for an explanation.
He set the picture he was holding back on the shelf. âSo, what are you doing with Randall Fallweather?â
I shook my head, admiring how easily he could shift from father to Alpha.
âWe started questioning him today, but heâs not talking,â I said. âI can command him, but heâs not a Greytooth. He doesnât seem that strong, but weâll have to see. I donât think he did this on his own.â
âBut we suspect a motive behind this, right?â
âHeâs looking for something specific.â I stated. âWe know heâs looking 62.92%

âAnd you donât suspect him of being involved?â my father asked.
âI didnât sense anything that indicated that he was,â I said. âBut I wanted to ask you what you thought. You know him better than I do. Do you think we should be looking eloser at him?â
âHeâs well-respected at the college,â Dad said. âHe was born a Greytooth. Heâs a few years older than me, but I knew him casually in our younger years. But I canât say either way. I can say that we canât give anyone the benefit of the doubt just because they are a pack member.â
I nodded. âIâll keep an eye on him.â
