Chapter 141
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
Chapter 141: Ayla âI almost forgot,â Randy said. âYou may want to speak with Professor Armand. Heâs one of ours. He may be able to help you make sense of some of Harryâs ramblings.â
â
âSo he was involved,â Theo commented. âWhy are you just now telling us?â
Randy shrugged. âI didnât get a chance before we had to send Ayla away. He wouldnât be much help without her. Heâs under the same command I am.
â
âOh, yeah, about that,â Theo pressed. âHow does that work? Iâve never seen anything like that before.â
The three men exchanged looks.
âItâs âs a safeguard,â Cooper said. âOne we actually learned from the Waar P*k. We use it to help protect our undercover agents.â
âOkay,â Theo said, âbut that doesnât answer my question. How does it work? How can someone be under the command of someone they havenât met, and how can that be stronger than any other Alphaâs command?â
âNot just anyone,â Cooper stated. âAyla. Itâs not an easy or pretty process. We donât use it on all of our agents.â
âAnd if I wanted to use it with some of my people?â Theo asked. âFor instance, myself. It would give me some peace of mind to know I canât be used against my mate.â

âI wouldnât be opposed to that, either,â Briggs said.
âAyla could just issue the command herself,â Cooper said. âWe can give you the wording. But it would be safer than our process.â
âWhat do you mean safer?â I asked. âHow was the command tied to me?â
âItâs on old ritual,â Randy finally said. âIt came from the Onyxcrown archives. Apparently, one of your ancestors developed the process.
ä¸ Which would make sense since it requires a piece of you, so to speak.â
é âExcuse me?â I said, the hair on my neck sticking up. âA piece of me?â
âWell, someone from your family,â Cooper clarified. âBlood, hair, skin, whatever. Like I said, itâs not a pleasant process.â
âAnd where did you find a piece of my family to perform this before?â I asked disgustedly.
Theo had tensed beside me. I knew he didnât like this any more than I did.
âYour father,â Harden said, leaning forward to rest a hand on mine. âHe gave it to us. He actually confirmed its efficacy. I wouldnât let him help us once he settled with the Greytooth Pack. We didnât want to lead the Waar P*k to him. But we did consult him a few times when we felt we had to. He gave us his blood.â
âOh,â I said. âWhat about the Waar P*k? You said you learned it from them?â
âAs far as we know, they havenât actually managed to successfully use it,â Randy said. âAccept for the perhaps the highest ranking leaders.â

âTo identify you would be my guess,â Randy pointed out. âYouâre the only one that can release them. They use it to expose you.
We use it to protect you instead. We canât be forced to reveal your identity or anything that may lead them to you.
âBut the command had been removed,â Theo said, concerned.
Randy shook his head. âNot entirely,â he said. âWe didnât know for sure, of course. Not even Jack knew the extent of how the binding command worked. But I still canât be compelled to speak about you with anyone you havenât allowed me to speak to. It was quite frustrating when I tried reporting to Alpha Cooper. I had to tell Alpha Harden. The only reason I can talk freely now is because youâre in the room.â
âIâd still like to know about the process,â Theo said. âThis could be the difference between life and death for Ayla.

â
âYou may not even need it,â Harden said. âOnce you mark each other, youâll be bound anyway.
âDo you think the same applies to Mina and me?â Briggs asked. âShe is a direct descendant.â
Randy shrugged. âIt could, I suppose. You may still need the command. from Ayla to drive it home, but youâd have the bond.â
â
âBut there are others that I would like to offer the opportunity,â Theo said. âSheâs going to need a guard for a while.â Theo looked at me. âI know Jimmy would appreciate knowing he couldnât be commanded to betray you.â

11:00 Chapter 141 Ayla 288 Vouchers Theo had told me that Jimmy had been beating himself up pretty badly over my attack. He had been wracked with guilt since I was stabbed. And all the events that followed didnât help. Theo said he even tried to step down as his Ga**a. I didnât want that to happen.
âYeah, I think it would help,â I agreed. âWhat if you tell us how to do the process in case we need to use it. But Iâll try to work on the command myself first. If thatâs the safer option, Iâd much rather use that anyway.â
Cooper looked to Harden. âI can live with that,â he stated. âBut only if you promise to have Randy or me help you the first time IF you need it.â
âOr Professor Armand,â Randy indicated.
âI have no problem with that deal,â Theo said, reaching out to shake on it.
âAlright,â Alpha Harden said. âUnless there is anything else you think we need to address, I think itâs time you guys got on the road. I have a private plane waiting to take you back to Greytooth territory. Youâll be leaving from a private airport, so theyâll be ready by the time you get there.â
We all stood up. Theo shook each manâs hand again, thanking each of them genuinely. I did as well. I didnât want to think about where we would be if it wasnât for their help. I didnât think I could ever repay them for their kindness and generosity. Toward me or my family.
