Chapter 185
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
O Chapter 33: Ayla 288 Vouchers Chapter 33: Ayla I spent the last two evenings going through my dadâs box with Professor Armand. He was very impressed and excited about the selection of books. I didnât show him Harryâs notebook just yet. There were some references that I had deciphered that I wasnât sure about, and I wanted to see if we could find the information by chance.
I met Maggie in the packhouse lobby on Wednesday to head to campus. I was feeling a little anxious, but I didnât know why.
Dasha seemed to be feeling it, too, as she paced in my head. I asked her what was up.
âMate,â she whined.
It had only been a few hours since we saw him after training that morning. He was in a great mood, so I didnât know what could be stressing her. But to assuage her concern and mine, I reached out to Theo through the mindâlink.
âIâm heading to class, babe. Everything okay?â
âYeah, all is good here, love. I have to run an errand out of town, but I should be back in a couple hours,â he replied. I could feel excitement pulsing through our connection. âHave a good day at class.â
âItâs a good errand, Iâm guessing?â I followed up.
âItâs a great errand,â he said almost giddily. âIâll tell you about it tonightâ
âOkay, just be careful,â I said. âDashaâs a bit anxious this morning. Sheâs worried about you two.â

âOkay,â I replied with a smile. âI love you.â
âLove you, too, baby.â
We disconnected the mindâlink and I pulled out of the packhouse grounds. I calmed Dasha, letting her know that everything was fine. She calmed down for a while but stayed near the surface of my mind throughout the day. I was starting to feel anxious again when Theo messaged that he was home, and everything went great. But Dasha still didnât calm down, and I began to get a headache. Luckily, we were heading to the last class for the day.
âEverything okay?â Maggie asked.
âYeah, Dasha is in a mood today,â I said. âIâm going to run to the restroom real quick. Iâll meet you back out here.â
âOkay,â she replied.
We werenât far from Professor Armandâs classroom and were a few minutes early, so I had time. I dipped inside and was grateful that there wasnât anyone else in there. I turned on the tap and wet a paper towel with some cool water, pressing it to my forehead. The headache wasnât that bad, but I was having trouble focusing. Although, that could have been because of Dasha.
âMate,â she said again.
âHeâs fine, Dasha,â I said frustratedly.
I threw the towel in the trash and straightened myself out. I would be home in a couple of hours and weâd see Theo. She could wait until then. I was leaving the bathroom when I heard a familiar voice just 21.80%

âIâm just trying to look out for you, Maggie,â Amy said sweetly. âSheâs not who you think she is. She tries to act all innocent, but if sheâs so innocent, where is her sister? I havenât heard from her in over a month. Not since she confronted Ayla for stealing Alpha Theo from her.â
âLuna Ayla is Alpha Theoâs fated mate,â Maggie snapped. âKylee had no right to be with him in the first place.â
âSo, Ayla says,â Amy insisted.
âSo Alpha Theo says,â Maggie hissed.
I donât know why I was getting so angry. Yes, what Amy was saying was insane, but I had gotten over her crap. No one really cared what she had to say. But I felt my body start to get hot as my rage grew.
âRegardless, fated mates or not, sheâs an awful person,â Amy said. âSheâs a liar and selfish. She only wants to be Luna for...â
âOkay, Amy,â I said firmly, stepping out of the bathroom. âI suggest you shut your mouth and move on. I am not in the mood to deal with your shit today.â
âItâs hard hearing the truth, isnât it?â
âYou have no idea what youâre talking about,â I replied. âYouâre just an ignorant little girl who canât get over the fact that the girl she followed around like a puppy turned out to be a lying brat.â
âThatâs some way to talk about your own sister,â she snarled. âWhere is Kylee, anyway? How did you manage to get rid of her?
Did you...â
My body flushed with heat. I could feel sweat break out on my forehead as Dasha began panting and pacing in my head. I wanted 45 70%

âAll females and mated males in the western quad,â her voice sounded through the mindâlink, âprotect your Luna. All unmated males clear the area between the quad and parking lot C.â
I saw groups of males and females start to circle us, staying close. A few would disappear, holding back males that began to charge us.
âMaggie, whatâs going on?â I asked quietly, my stomach tied in knots as my temperature rose.
âYouâre going into heat, Luna,â she replied. âJust stay close to me and give me your keys.â
Shit. This wasnât good.
I had never experienced a heat before. Sheâwolves didnât go into heat until they became sexually active. Even then, it wasnât often until they were marked. But when they went into heat, they had to mate. If they didnât, it was extremely painful, and the condition would last for days. To ensure a mating, any unmated male would sense a female in heat and could go into a frenzy if they lost control. Thatâs why campus security was required to consist of females or mated males. They couldnât have their own guards succumb to the mating haze.
We reached my car and Maggie tucked me into the passenger seat. I started to buckle my seatbelt when a sharp pain radiated through my abdomen. I cried out as I clutched my stomach. That wasnât right. My heat just set in. I should have had several hours before the pain should hit. I should have had more time to get to my mate.
Maggie looked at me in concern as we pulled out of the parking spot. I was gasping for air as the waves of pain subsided and renewed. My 70.58%
