Chapter 193
The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
Chapter 42: Ayla âWho ordered you?â I commanded.
Denny shook his head. âWe donât know his name,â he replied nervously. âWe always just call him Boss.â
âOkay, Denny,â I said with a small smile. âBut youâve seen him, havenâ t you?â
âJust once,â he replied. âBut it was dark. There was a big group of us. Maybe thirty or forty rogues. They did some kind of ritual.â
âDid the ritual mention someone named Dominis?â Theo commanded.
Denny nodded. âYes.â
âIt was the command.â I stated.
âWhich has now been broken,â Theo confirmed.
âHow can you tell?â Kingston asked.
âTheo commanded information about the Dominis family. He wouldnât have been able to answer if I hadnât been commanding him,â I explained. âDenny, do you know why they commanded you to attack us? Why do they want to organize the rogues against the Greytooth and Sablemane packs?â
âI... I donât know about Sablemane, but...â He swallowed hesitantly. He was scared.
âItâs okay, Denny,â I said calmly. âWe wonât hurt you. We just need your help. If you can give it to us.â

He was scared.
âDenny, were you one of the rogues that hurt people in Bonnerville?â I ordered. âDid you kill any of our pack members?â
âNo,â he rushed honestly. âI only damaged property. I avoided the people. Thatâs how I was caught. I was running from the big fight, and an officer grabbed me. But I swear, I didnât hurt anyone.â
I nodded. âOkay.â I looked at Theo. âCan I talk to you outside?â I linked him.
He nodded and I stood, motioning for Kingston to follow. We left the cell and returned to the investigation room.
âI want to offer him a place in the pack,â I stated once we were away from the guards.
âWhat?â Kingston exclaimed. Theo sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
âAyla,â Kingston said, âA wolf who has been a rogue as long as he has wouldnât know what to do in a pack.â
âThen we teach him,â I replied.
âYou saw him in there, Theo. Heâs scared, not angry.â
âHe doesnât seem like the same rogue 1 interviewed in Bonnerville, no,â Theo conceded. âBut it could just be an act, babe. He could be playing us. Heâs had over a week to get his story together, and you havenât put much pressure on him.â

Theo chuckled.
âThatâs reckless. Ayla.â Kingston said.
âNot if she is the Blessed One,â Theo replied.
âThere was a passage in Harryâs journal,â I explained. âHe theorized that anyone sworn to the Blessed Oneâs pack would have an unusually strong devotion to her and the pack.â
âEssentially, they would be incapable of betraying us,â Theo clarified.
âYou really want to trust her safety to a theory?â
âItâs a strong theory.â I added.
âWeâve found supporting evidence. And Randy confirmed it was one of the wear Pakâs concerns with the Blessed Oneâs suspected abilities.â
Kingston crossed his arms. âI still think itâs too much of a risk.â
âThen I guess itâs a good thing Iâm not offering him to join Sablemane,â I snapped.
Kingston backed off. I felt a little guilty for the jab, but he was babying me again.
Theo held my shoulders. âLook, Ayla, I trust you and your judgment. We canât guarantee him a fast or easy transition. But if you think doing this will help us, then thatâs what weâll do.â
I took his hands. âThank you.â I turned to Kingston. âDo you have a picture or something of Grogan you could show him? It may help.â

âGood.â
We returned to the cell and I sat back down in front of our prisoner.
âOkay, Denny, âI said,â I have a proposal for you.â
He looked up at me nervously.
âI would like for you to tell us everything you know about the rogue groups and this Boss,â I continued. âIf you can do that, we would be willing to make you a member of our pack.â
Dennyâs widened and his mouth fell open. âBut... I... I donât... Why?â
âWe need information,â I said with a shrug. âAnd Iâd rather not waste time trying to fight it out you. We all understand your position here, being a rogue. They typically donât survive this long within pack territory.â Denny flinched. âJust a stated fact, not a threat,â I assured him. âEither way, Iâm not sure what else to offer a rogue. So, unless you have a different request, thatâs what is on the table.â
Denny looked between the three of us. âI would never be accepted.â
âIf you help save and protect our Luna, you will be,â Theo told him.
âYouâre a rogue because of someone elseâs actions,â I said gently. âWe wonât hold that against you.â
âDo you know why they are doing all of this?â Theo asked.
âTheyâre looking for someone,â Denny said. âThey never actually told us who, but we started to hear stories about a Blessed One throughout the camps. It was all some nonsense about some family taking over all 60.66%

I snorted.
Theo rested his hands on my shoulders from behind me. âThey want her.â
âAnd I will swear to you right now, Denny,â I said firmly, âI have no intention of taking over any other pack, let alone the world. So, if you are willing to tell us what you know about these groups, including your friend in the other cell, youâll have a place here.â
âI donât know much,â he insisted. âWhat if the information is useless?â
âAs long as you tell us what you do know,â I said, âthen the deal stands.â
âAnd if I say no?â
âWe still need the information,â Theo said gravely. âWe still have to command you to verify what you say is the truth. If you fight it, it wonâ t end well for you.â
Denny thought for a long while, but I was patient. I hoped he would see that this was more than a mercy to him. We didnât need to offer him anything. But I wanted to. Finally, he took a deep breath.
âOkay.â
