The Luna’s Choice by Kat Silver
Chapter 252: Ayla Alpha Anthony and Luna Aniya were gone most of the night. Jimmy said a couple of the guards saw them come back a few hours before sunrise. We decided not to disturb them. We could work out any more details regarding the pack alliance later. For now, we needed to get the rest of the leaders on our side.
We were deciding who to speak with next when there was a knock on our suite door. Theo and I looked at each other curiously.
Theo went to see who it was to find Alpha Vincent and Beta Aaron on the other side.
âForgive the intrusion, Alpha Theo,â Alpha Vincent said politely. âWe understand you are planning to set up meetings with us all today. However, we just got done speaking with Alpha Anthony.â
Theo nodded knowingly and welcomed them in.
âLuna Ayla, we apologize for our impatience,â Alpha Vincent said when he saw me in my robe.
âItâs okay,â I replied. âTrust me. I understand your curiosity. Do you mind if I take a moment to get dressed?â
âNo, of course not,â Beta Aaron rushed. âPlease, by all means.â
âThank you, gentlemen.â
I retreated to our room and quickly dressed, dragging a brush through my hair and throwing it up in a clip. When I returned, the men were all speaking quietly together. Theo sensed my presence and turned his attention to me.

âAnd a little about some kind of sisterhood or something,â Beta Aaron said. âAnd something about a prophecy that will save our species.â
âThat makes it seem a bit severe,â I said as I joined Theo on the couch. âBut yes, the Moon Haven Order has been protecting information along those lines for centuries.â
The two men looked at each other seriously. I noticed that Beta Aaron seemed on edge. His posture was tense. Completely opposite of the laid-back nature I was used to seeing on him.
âAlpha Anthony said that you were able to command Luna Aniya to shift for the first time,â Alpha Vincent said. âIâm sure I donât have to say that after yesterday, that act will help in your favor today.â
âThatâs not why I did it,â I rushed. âIt was a consideration, of course. But I helped because I could. Because everyone deserves their wolf.â
Vincent smiled warmly. âI assumed as much,â I replied. âWhich is why we are here.â He glanced at Beta Aaron. âWe would like to know what the limitations of your command abilities are.â
âIâm not sure,â I said honestly. âHonestly, you all are learning all of this at the same time I am. I only found out I could command a few months ago. Much of this information is tied to our family bloodlines. Sister Mona would have a better idea. Although, she likes to talk around the question sometimes.â
âIâve sent someone to retrieve her already,â Theo informed them. âShe should be here any...â
Another knock on the door interrupted him.

Theo let her in. He offered her a cup of coffee and she settled in with us. We took a little time to briefly explain who she and the Moon Haven Order were, and what she believed our next move should be The whole time we were talking, Beta Aaron seemed to be getting more and more tense. He wasnât exactly agitated, but he was definitely anxious about something.
âIs everything alright, Beta Aaron,â I asked gently when Mona got to a stopping point.
He looked at me in surprise and then a little sheepishly. He glanced at Alpha Vincent who nodded his approval of something.
âWe were theorizing,â he began, âif you can command someone to take their own life, would you be capable of commanding another to keep theirs?â
My brow furrowed. âIâm not sure what you mean,â I stated.
Beta Vincent reached into his pocket and pulled out a picture. He handed it to me and Theo. It depicted a little girl with dark brown ringlets and bright blue eyes. She was smiling fiercely in the image, showing the gaps from her missing baby teeth as she hugged Beta Aaron.
âMy niece, Renee,â he explained. âShe was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition last year. We have been trying every possible treatment we can find, but she hasnât been improving. Our doctors donât think sheâll make it to her tenth birthday.â
âI am so sorry, Beta Aaron,â I urged, my heart aching for him.
Alpha Vincent rested his elbows on his knees. âItâs not just his niece,â he said. âHer diagnosis hit the pack house hard. So I started looking 54.26%

âThatâs concerning,â Theo agreed, sitting up straighter. âIâve done the same since my fatherâs diagnosis. We have experienced a similar trend. However, it wasnât enough to be too alarming. Our own pack has continued to grow in that time, so I contributed it to that.â
âYour pack is tied to your blood,â Sister Mona interjected. âI think if you make some inquiries, you may find that other packs are having the same issues as the Dawnfall Pack.â
âBut what can we do?â I asked, worried that they were expecting the impossible from us.
âI know it sounds insane,â Alpha Vincent said, âbut weâd like you to try commanding Renee to heal.â
