Chapter 33

Her king

Alexandra's POV

"Omg! You look amazing!" Mom exclaimed.

"She looks just like you Regina when we were choosing your wedding dress." Lea brushed a tear from her face.

"Yeah I remember that day. Jake was going to faint the day of wedding." They both laughed.

"How about you Auntie Lea?" Mom glared at me but Lea smiled.

"It's okay Regina nobody knows." She said to mom then she turned to me. "I was forced to marry Ace. That's why I didn't go dress shopping. All these things are materialistic. What really matters is the love and respect between the two." She said smiling. "And I'm thankful I was forced into this marriage." And I'm thankful I agreed to get engaged to Brandon, I thought.

"This is it then." I said twirling around for the last time.

I changed my clothes and left the changes room. I saw Lea paying for the dress and the guards took it.

"Are you done?"

"Yes." The workers bowed with a smile.

"Your majesty." They said and we left the shop. Conor and 5 guards were waiting for us.

"My queen!" Lea gasped when she saw a guy in his 30's with a woman. He was dressed nicely.

"Caleb!" She exclaimed with a huge smile. Mom and I looked at each other confused.

"How are you my queen?"

"I'm fine Caleb. How about you?" She asked him.

"I'm fine. This is my wife Cristelle. She's French." He introduced the woman next to him.

"Bonjour. Nice to meet you. This is Regina. Duke Jack's wife. And this is her daughter, Alexandra, my son's fiance." She said proudly.

"Nice to meet you." I said.

"Us too." They said.

"Not trying to be rude or something but who's this Auntie Lea?"

"Oh right. 20 years ago before I married Ace we were meeting the former king and Ace in town and that's when I saw Caleb the last time."

"Yeah and she stood up for me. I always tell my children about you my queen." He smiled gratefully.

"That was nothing Caleb. I would've done it again and again." He kissed her hand.

"We should get going. Goodbye." He said and they left.

"Bye."

"Wow Auntie Lea you were a hero." I said amazed. Mom and Lea laughed.

"Nah I was a coward actually." I glared playfully at her.

"Come on girls let's go." Mom said. We followed her.

"Wait Regina I want to buy something."

"Okay I'll come with you. Alex wanna come?" Mom asked me.

"No I'm fine. I'll wait here."

"Okay we'll be right back." Lea said.

I stood for a couple of minutes near the carriage doing nothing. Conor was busy with the guards while I observed the people here. Some even greeted me while others just stared at the guards and I.

"Alexa!"

"Brandon? What are you doing here?" Brandon was walking fast towards me.

"Alexa run!" Brandon roared while I stayed glued in my spot.

"What? What's happening!" I asked with fright. Brandon started running. People were looking at their prince trying to know what's wrong. He maintained his angry posture.

"Your majesty are you okay?" Someone asked Brandon.

"Bra-"

I was cut off by a pain piercing my back. Everything stopped around me. I heard the voices like echoes. I could hear my breath and my heartbeat. I kneeled on the floor then I fell on my chest looking at my surroundings.

"No! I told you to run stupid!" Brandon said with an angry tone. I smiled but winced. "You can't leave me." He whispered hugging me.

"Your majesty we should take her to the doctor." Brandon's eyes shot to Conor and he nodded leaving me with hesitation. That's all I saw before Brandon's alarmed voice called for me before I closed my eyes after trying so hard to stay awake.

Lea's POV

"Regina look at this bracelet!" I exclaimed. I wanted to buy a gift for Alex on her wedding.

"Yes it's amazing."

"Okay we'll buy it then." I said at the salesman.

"Yes your majesty." He bowed and took the bracelet wrapping it in a gift box.

"Alexa run!"

"Isn't that Brandon's voice?" Regina stood from the chair she was sitting on.

"Yes it is."

Suddenly people started screaming and the guards were barking orders at the people. Regina and I ran outside the shop to see a circle of people. When they saw us, they bowed and parted away. Someone or Is that Alex? Brandon was hugging her from behind.

"Alexa please open your eyes." He repeated over and over again.

"Your majesty we should take her to the doctor." Conor said and Brandon left Alex hesitantly. His face held a neutral face but I knew my boy. He was trying hard not to cry.

"Your majesties." The doctor said exiting Alex's room. After we managed to get Brandon to leave Alex inside the doctor operated on her immediately. Brandon shot from his seat with his eyes still red from crying.

"What!" Brandon barked.

"She's stable. She's in a coma for now. We don't know when she might get up. I'm sorry." Ace hugged Brandon while I soothed Regina. We all loved Alex. We will wait for her to wake up.

"I'll bring water." Anna exclaimed. Harry followed her.

"Brandon." He looked at me.

"It's Anna's funeral today. It was being held at 6 o'clock. It's 3. Wanna go?" I said sadly. We can't mourn someone else. The deaths are already many.

"Yes I'll come."

We all loved Anna the maid. But live goes on. Her daughter and husband insisted we did the coronation and the wedding. But it's like fate is against us. In there lays my daughter in law. The daughter of my dearest friend. Brandon, Alex's parents, Ace and I entered Alex's room. We all stood there gazing at the lifeless body laying on the bed. If her chest wasn't raising we would've thought she was dead. Brandon sat next to her and took her hand in his.

"I love you." He whispered these three words that I'm sure Alex would return.
