A Night of Fun and Friendship"
My Whispers : A Journey of Self-Discovery"
As the weekend approached, excitement buzzed in the air like electricity. Aditi and Shruthi had decided to host a special girlsâ night at Shruthiâs place, and this time, I was to be a part of it as Suhasini. Aditi was particularly eager to see me in a saree, and I could feel a mixture of anticipation and nervousness bubbling inside me.
âDonât worry, Suhasini! Itâs going to be so much fun!â Aditi beamed, practically bouncing with excitement. âIâll bring over a few sarees and accessories. And since youâre my size, my blouses will definitely fit you!â
I nodded, trying to hide my growing thrill at the thought of dressing up fully. The idea of spending a whole night as Suhasini, with Aditi and Shruthi, felt like a dream. I spent the day leading up to it imagining how beautiful I could look in a saree, the fabric draping around me, making me feel like a queen.
When I arrived at Shruthiâs place that evening, the atmosphere was already vibrant with anticipation. Aditi had brought an array of sarees, each one more colorful and elaborate than the last, along with bangles, jewelry, and makeup essentials. Shruthi greeted me at the door with a huge smile and an affectionate hug.
âReady to be our girly girl for the night?â she teased, glancing at the pile of outfits and accessories spread out on the couch.
I giggled nervously, âI guess I am!â
We began the transformation almost immediately. The first saree Aditi chose was a beautiful, flowing blue fabric adorned with silver motifs. She draped it expertly around my waist, the soft material gliding against my skin. âJust wait until you see how stunning youâll look!â she exclaimed as she tucked the pleats in, making sure it fell perfectly.
Next came the blouse, a snug fit that highlighted my figure in a way I had never seen before. âSee? You look amazing!â Aditi said, adjusting the neckline. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and felt a thrill at the sight of the girl looking back at me.
Then it was time for the makeup. Shruthi took charge of the makeup session, excited to transform me into a stunning version of Suhasini. âLetâs start with the foundation,â she said, applying a creamy base to even out my skin tone. I felt the coolness of the product as it glided smoothly over my cheeks and forehead, creating a perfect canvas.
âNext, weâll add some contouring,â she continued, expertly using a bronzer to define my cheekbones and jawline. âThis will help give your face that lovely shape.â I marveled at how she blended the makeup seamlessly, transforming my face with each stroke.
âNow, letâs work on the eyes,â Shruthi said, pulling out a palette filled with vibrant colors. She chose a shimmering gold for the eyelids, applying it with precision, followed by a deeper shade in the crease to add depth. âYou want your eyes to pop,â she explained, and I watched in fascination as she created the perfect eye look.
Next came the eyeliner. âThis is where the magic happens,â Shruthi said, carefully applying a winged eyeliner that made my eyes look larger and more expressive. âAnd now, mascara to make those lashes flutter!â she finished, and I couldnât help but bat my eyes at the mirror, loving the new look.
âFinally, letâs add some color to your lips!â Aditi chimed in, choosing a vibrant pink lipstick that complemented the saree beautifully. As she applied it, I felt a rush of excitementâthis was the finishing touch that brought the whole look together.
âNow for the accessories!â Aditi declared. She draped a sparkling necklace around my neck and added dangling earrings that sparkled with every movement. Then she layered on the bangles, their jingle filling the room with a joyful sound. âYouâre going to be the most beautiful girl tonight,â she teased as she slipped a bindi onto my forehead.
We moved on to hairstyle next. Aditi brushed my hair, adding soft curls that framed my face perfectly. âA little hair spray to hold the curls,â she said, misting my hair and giggling as she transformed my shoulder-length hair into a more glamorous look.
Finally, it was time for shoes. Aditi brought out a pair of elegant heels, their straps delicate and feminine. âThese will complete your look!â she said, helping me step into them carefully. Standing tall, I felt both empowered and a little nervous, balancing carefully as I walked in them for the first time.
Once I was fully dressed, Aditi and Shruthi stepped back to admire their work. âYou look absolutely stunning, Suhasini!â Shruthi exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Aditi couldnât contain her glee. âWeâre going to have so much fun tonight! Letâs try a few more outfits.â
Over the next few hours, I transformed into different outfitsâanother saree, a flowy skirt paired with a cute top, and even a glamorous gown. With each outfit change, Aditi and Shruthi showered me with compliments, making me feel like a princess. They teased me playfully, adjusting my clothes, fixing my hair, and taking pictures to capture every moment.
âYouâre our little doll, and we love dressing you up!â Aditi said with a laugh, her eyes twinkling with joy. I felt both bashful and exhilarated, enjoying every second of our girly night together.
After hours of makeovers, laughter, and playful teasing, we all grew tired and decided it was time to cook something together. Shruthi and Aditi, however, had one last idea up their sleeves.
"Alright, Suhasini, it's time to change into something more comfortable," Shruthi announced with a mischievous smile. My heart leaped with excitement, thinking I might finally get to wear one of the soft nighties from their wardrobe. I glanced hopefully at Aditi, but she had different plans.
"Oh no, not a nightie for you," Aditi said, grinning. "We want you to be a little more girly than that tonight."
Shruthi nodded, her eyes twinkling. "How about a simple daily wear saree instead? Itâll make you look like a sweet, simple village girl."
I wasnât sure what to say, but before I could protest, they were already rummaging through Shruthiâs cupboard, pulling out a soft cotton saree in a pale, floral printânothing fancy, just something youâd see a woman wearing around the house. They paired it with a simple blouse, one that felt more snug and homely.
"Here you go, Suhasini," Aditi said, handing me the saree. "This will suit you perfectly."
I hesitated for a moment, but then the thought of fully embracing this feminine side of me won out. I changed into the saree, feeling the softness of the cotton against my skin. It was light, comfortable, but still gave me that same thrilling sense of femininity. Once I had the saree on, Shruthi stepped in to drape it properly, making sure the pallu was neatly folded and tucked over my shoulder.
But they werenât done yet. Aditi brought out a simple set of accessoriesâa pair of gold bangles that jingled softly as she slipped them onto my wrists, a delicate gold chain for my neck, and a small anklet that added a faint, melodic sound as I moved. Then, with a playful grin, Shruthi braided my hair into a simple, neat plait, pulling a few strands forward to frame my face.
âThere you go,â Shruthi said, stepping back to admire her work. âYou look just like a sweet village girl, ready to take care of the house.â
Aditi chimed in, teasing as always. âOr maybe a newlywed, waiting to impress her husband with her cooking.â
I blushed deeply, my heart racing as they both laughed and teased. The way they were looking at me, with that playful affection, made me feel more like Suhasini than ever before. I looked at myself in the mirrorâno makeup, no elaborate hairstyle, just a simple saree, bangles, and a braid. Yet somehow, it felt more real, more me, than all the glamorous sarees from earlier.
As we made our way to the kitchen, their teasing continued.
âSo, Suhasini,â Aditi said as we chopped vegetables. âHow does it feel being the girly one tonight?â
I could feel my cheeks burning as I answered shyly, âI feel⦠different. But in a good way. Itâs like Iâm... someone else completely.â
âSomeone else?â Shruthi raised an eyebrow, smiling. âOr maybe this is the real you?â
I blushed even harder. âMaybeâ¦â
âOh, come on!â Aditi laughed. âYouâre practically glowing, Suhasini! Admit itâyou love this.â
I couldnât help but smile, feeling more comfortable in their playful teasing. âOkay, fine. I do like it⦠It feels like Iâm a princess,â I said, trying to laugh off the vulnerability in my voice. âA princess with two little sisters who keep teasing her.â
Shruthi burst out laughing. âA princess, huh? Well, Princess Suhasini, I hope youâre ready to work, because we need your help in the kitchen!â
Aditi joined in. âAnd as your little sisters, itâs our duty to make sure you stay as girly as possible while you do it.â
I couldnât stop smiling, despite how shy I felt. There was something about the way they were treating me, not just as a joke, but like I truly belonged in this world. The teasing, the affectionâit all felt so natural, like this was exactly where I was supposed to be.
As we cooked, Aditi continued to ask me questions, her voice soft but playful. âSo, Suhasini, do you like wearing bangles? I noticed you keep looking at them.â
I glanced down at my wrists, the soft jingle of the bangles filling my ears. âYes,â I admitted. âThey⦠make me feel different. More delicate.â
Shruthi nudged me with her elbow. âAnd how do you like the saree? Is it as comfortable as it looks?â
I smiled, looking down at the floral print. âItâs perfect. Itâs light, soft⦠I think I like these kinds of sarees more than the fancy ones.â
âThatâs because youâre a simple girl at heart,â Aditi said, winking at me. âYou donât need all the glam to look beautiful.â
The teasing was gentle, but it made me feel more embraced than ever. They werenât just making fun of meâthey were encouraging me, helping me explore this side of myself in a way that felt safe and joyful.
As the night went on, they continued to ask me how I felt, how I was enjoying my new identity as Suhasini. Every time they asked, I could only smile, feeling more comfortable and more like myself with every passing minute.
By the time dinner was ready, I was completely immersed in my role as Suhasini. The simple saree, the soft jingle of my bangles, the delicate braid in my hairâit all felt right. And with Aditi and Shruthi by my side, teasing me like sisters would, I finally felt like I was exactly where I belonged.
As we sat down to eat, Shruthi looked at me with a soft smile. âSo, Suhasini, do you think youâll keep this up? Or is tonight just a special occasion?â
I hesitated for a moment, then smiled back. âI think⦠I think Iâd like to be Suhasini more often. If thatâs okay.â
Aditi grinned. âOf course itâs okay! Suhasini is always welcome with us. In fact, we wouldnât have it any other way.â
And with that, the night continued, filled with laughter, teasing, and a growing sense that Suhasini was no longer just a fleeting part of meâshe was becoming someone I could truly be, with two amazing friends by my side.
