28. What Happened To Her?

"Nada?! What happened? Why are you crying?" Fahad asked me hysterically.

"Fahad, Alizah...sh-she." I couldn't say the words further. Whatever I spoke was also a mere whisper.

"Alizah?! What about her?" He again asked.

"Sh-she is not re-resp-ponding to any-anything." I stammered.

"What? Where is she?" He asked out of worry.

"Come." I said softly and he followed me to the room across his.

"I have been constantly shaking her, I literally patted her cheeks too but she isn't responding, Fahad." The tears were flowing down my cheeks, continuously.

"Alizah! Alizah baby!" He shook her body but she didn't respond only her eyes were open and her breathing was normal.

"Fahad I am so scared. What happened to her? It was time for her to drink milk like every night so I thought to feed her but there I saw she was still at her place." I explained.

"Let's go to the doctor rightnow! Come." He turned with Alizah in her hands and I also pulled over my long overcoat and took Alizah's coat too.

I took Aliza's bagpack which had her necessities, my phone and went to Fahad's room to take his hoodie lying on the couch too. It's really cold here.

"Come Nada!" I heard Fahad whisper-yelled.

"Did you take your car keys?" I asked him making Alizah wear her coat.

"Yes. When you were packing things for her."

"Let's go." I said as my voice cracked at Alizah's condition.

Fahad wore his hoodie and went to the driver's seat as I sat on the passenger seat with Alizah in my hands.

"Alizah baby. Please respond. Cry or whine but do something!!" I said shaking her but all she did was breath and closed her eyelids halfway.

"Nada...she will be fine. I am driving to the hospital rightnow." Fahad spoke trying to calm me down.

Ya Allah please let Alizah be safe.

"We need to meet the pediatrician rightnow! It's an emergency!" Fahad hollered at the receptionist.

She hurriedly took us to the pediatrician.

"Doctor Saleha. There's an emergency." The receptionists said to the doctor.

"Oh! Send them in then." I heard the doctor say.

"Asalamwalaikum (Peace be upon you) Doctor." I greeted as soon as I entered.

"Walaikumasalam (Peace be upon you too). What's the emergency?" The doctor asked.

"Ma'am this our daughter, Alizah, she hasn't been responding to anything. We tickled her, lightly slapped her cheeks, shook her but she is not doing anything. Just breathing and her eyes are almost close." Fahad explained.

"Hold her for me please." She said.

I went near her and held Alizah in front of the doctor.

She checked Alizah's eyes and noted something down.

"Nothing to worry about, Mr and Mrs...-

"Sheikh." I and Fahad said together.

"Yes. Mr and Mrs. Sheikh. . . She will be fine. She was having fits. I'll add saline through the IV drip then you can take her home." She informed us.

"Why wasn't she responding to anything?" I asked her.

"It happens when a person is having fits. She is fine." I sighed out of relief.

"Is she completely okay? Did it happen because of some inappropriate diet?" Fahad asked worriedly.

"No- no Ma Sha Allah (With God's grace) she is absolutely fine. And you both are keeping her very well. What's her age by the way?" Doctors Saleha asked.

"She's six-month old." My baby girl she is suffering so much. I should have been more careful.

After the saline process, the doctor gave some syrups that are to be given to her. Alizah was back to normal now because of the IV drip.

"You know baby, I was so scared you know?" I said hugging Alizah as a tear slipped down my cheeks. Alizah clapped her hands at me. Cute and clueless.

"Yes baby, you know your Mom cried like a baby." Fahad teased me.

"So what? I have a soft heart. I am sensitive. Unlike you, stone-hearted." I sat inside the car as I saw him shaking his head.

Fahad soon joined inside and started the car. Alizah was fine now. She was clapping, turning around on my lap and pulling my hair. I like her this way.

"Ouch! AliBaby, slowly." I winced and removed her hands from my hair.

"I am glad she is normal now." Fahad spoke from beside me.

"Same here. I was flabbergasted, tensed that I didn't know what shall I do that's why I just did the one thing that came into my mind-"

"To come to me."

"Uh. . . No! I searched on Google." I completed and he facepalmed himself.

"But still I didn't get anything so I came to you with my face drenched in tears."

"Yes that I figured out. I was wondering that what happened to this girl? Did she hit her head or something? I mean you are as clumsy as a bear!"

"Hey! Did you just compare me to bear?!?"

"So? Only you can compare me with animals?" He asked leaning towards me a bit.

"YOU!" I said and threw the new packet of the car freshener at him and he winced.

"Oops—" I smiled.

"When are you going to stop throwing randomn things at me?" He gritted his teeth at me as he stopped the car infront of the mansion.

"Umm..." I placed my finger at my chin and pretended to think.

"Never!" I exclaimed and barged out of the car with Alizah in my hands.

"For God's sake don't fall!" I heard him shouting behind.

I went inside my room as Fahad also entered.

"Hold her Fahad! I need to give her the syrup which was prescribed." I said holding out Alizah at him.

He took her from me and started playing with her.

I kept her bag down and took the bottle of the syrup and filled the medicine dropper till five milliliter.

"Okay my cute little munchkin! It's medicine time!" I chattered with enthusiasm.

"Fahad hold her tightly. I know she is not gonna like this syrup and I will squeeze her cheeks and put this in her mouth okay?" I instructed him and squeezed her cheeks and as a drop went inside her mouth she realised that it has a bad taste and started crying.

"Hold her Fahad!" I scolded. Does he know anything except working and eating? Yes, irritating me.

"I am holding her, you put it in her mouth!"

"I am, but she is wailing her eyes out and moving her head to avoid the medicine." I reasoned out.

"Do it forcefully Nada! It's important."

"Okay okay. . . its done baby! It's done." I said once I forcefully fed her the syrup and took her in my hands giving that medicine dropper to Fahad.

"Hmm. . . It's okay! Shh...calm down, my love. I know it would be bitter but it's for your good." I tried to console her even when I know she is not going to understand anything.

"Quit talking to her. You are probably disturbing her. She is sleepy." Fahad said as he kept the medicine inside.

"She is sleeping?!" Dumb me.

"Umm yeah." Fahad checked.

"No! We have to feed her milk then only she can sleep. She can't sleep on an empty stomach. The doctor said to giver her milk before she sleeps. Pass that bottle Fahad! Please. Be quick!"

"Fine I am passing it, no need to be hyperactive." He said and pass me the milk bottle.

I put the bottle in her mouth and she started sucking it. I went and sat on the bed as my legs were tired of standing.

As the milk inside the bottle was finished, I thought Alizah was going to sleep back again but no, she was wide awake now.

"Alizah sleep baby! Please! I beg you." Fahad requested who was sitting beside where my legs were stretched.

I laid Alizah on my thighs and made her sleep.

"I will stay until she sleeps." Fahad said caressing her forehead and I nodded. Even I am sleepy rightnow and I can see Fahad was too, who was yawning.

Well, Alizah slept after I patted her and I was already looking like a zombie because of lack of sleep.

After that I didn't know what happened because I was already fallen into a deep slumber. Will see whatever happens tomorrow.
