Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 1162 This Childâs Too Soft-Hearted Suddenly, someone shouted behind Peter. However, it was not a womanâs voice.
Peter slowly turned around and saw Adrien walking toward him hurriedly.
âWhy didnât you tell me youâre leaving? I could send you off.â
Peter forced a smile, âThereâs no need to send me off. After all, youâll be coming over in a bit. Itâs not like we wonât ever see each other again.â
Adrien shook his head in amusentent, âIâll still have to send you off. Otherwise, Iâll miss you.â
Peter could not help but smile hearing a middle-aged man say he would miss him.
However, his smile was a little bitter.
Jolinaâs ticket was already wrinkled from Peterâs grip. Peter looked in the direction the cabs stopped once more, and the final bit of expectation he had dissipated.
Adrien glanced at Peterâs expression and understood the situation.
He narrowed his eyes slightly and chuckled, âGo home, and donât worry. Iâll help you get what you want.â
Peter shook his head, âThis is different. Itâs not something I can have just because I want it.
âIâve always gotten whatever I wanted. I never thought winning a womanâs heart would be this difficult,â
he thought.
âLetâs go, second young master. It really is almost boarding time,â the bodyguard beside him said in a panic.
Peter looked and Adrien and suddenly teared up. He looked like a child that had been. wronged.
Then, he said in a low voice, âIâll be leaving now. Take care, Uncle Adrien.â
âGo on.â
Adrien stared at Peterâs back, unblinking. Moments later, he shook his head in resignation.
âThis childâs too soft-hearted; in the end, he still isnât like me. If it were me, I wouldâve gotten what I wanted, one way or another,â he thought.
In a cab that was a distance away, Jolina only looked away after seeing Peter disappear into the airport entrance.
She said to the cab driver, âTo Nouveau District.â
Jolina and Peter had known each other for two years.
âWhen I first met Peter, I helped him. After that, he always looked after me. I had always treated Peter as a good friend. However, everything changed after that chaotic, painful night. It was as if our relationship had completely changed because of that night. Iâm here to see him off merely for old timesâ
sake. I wonât follow him back to the Webb family because he was never the person I liked. If I follow him back now, that will mean I accept him. But I will never truly accept him. Never,â thought Jolina.
Elsewhere, Kisa woke up in a dim room.
She stared at the ceiling in a daze. Moments later, she finally realized she was currently in Gilbertâs office.
The curtains in the office were shut, and only the table lamp in the room was lit.
Kisa scanned her surroundings groggily. If it were not for the wall clock indicating that it was two oâclock in the afternoon, she would have thought that it was already nighttime.
There was a light gray blanket covering her. A faint tobacco smell lingered on the blanket which Kisa surprisingly liked.
Kisa hugged the blanket and sat up. She still felt a little disoriented.
âYouâre awake?â
Shortly after, she heard the man beside her speak.
Kisa turned to Gilbert. She saw him leaning on the chair and staring at her.
He had a pen in his hand and looked like he had been busy.
âMhm.â
Kisa rubbed her eyes and answered quietly. Her voice was a little hoarse.
She was disoriented after the nap; her thoughts were a little fuzzy.
