Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 1175 Lighting the Way For Her âWhatâs wrong?â
Gilbertâs tone sounded a little rough.
Kisa pursed her lips and said flatly, âItâs no big deal. I just want to visit a friend.â
The man turned around and left without saying anything after hearing what she said.
At first, Kisa thought that he had gotten mad and was going back on his own.
However, she was surprised to see the man turn his head back to look at her after walking a few steps.
Why are you still standing there? Come on, Iâll take you to see your friend.â
Gilbertâs face looked emotionless, and his tone sounded very flat too.
Kisa bowed her head down and walked behind him.
Then, they arrived at Jolinaâs place.
Kisa turned her head and said to Gilbert, âJust wait for me in the car. Iâll go up and have a look.â
Gilbert did not say anything.
Kisa then went out of the car alone after she said that.
However, Gilbert followed her as soon as she was about to go up the stairs.
Kisa slightly arched his brows. âWhatâ¦ââ
âItâs too boring in the car, so Iâll just follow you.â
The man spoke as he went past her and walked up the stairs.
Kisa stared at his back for a while and went after him.
Jolina lived in an old flat and the staircase was not very wellâlit.
Gilbert stood at the corner of the stairs. Then, he switched on the flashlight on his phone to light the way for Kisa.
Kisa pursed her lips tightly as her mixed feelings welled up in her again.
She tried her best not to be overwhelmed by her thoughts.
Gilbert did not move when Kisa walked past him. He let her go before him.
Kisa did not say anything and went upstairs quietly.
Gilbert followed behind her and lit up the way for her.
It was only two flights of stairs, but Kisa felt like she had been walking for a very long time.
Kisa knocked on the door after she arrive at Jolinaâs front door.
Nobody answered from inside.
She bent down and looked through the doorâs gap. It was completely dark inside as if nobody was in there. âCould it be true that Jolina really went back to her hometown?â
However, she just felt very suspicious after reading that text message.
After all, if something really happened with her family Jolina could have picked up her phone when Kisa called her. Kisa just could not figure out why she had to send her a text message after that.
A woman approached her when she was still thinking to herself.
That woman seemed to be Jolinaâs neighbor.
âHello there, are you looking for Jolina?â
âYeah. Do you have any idea where she is?â Kisa quickly asked.
The woman smiled and said, âShe went back to her hometown. I heard that one of her family members got sick and she went home. She left in a hurry, so I guess thatâs why she didnât manage to inform you and her other friends.â
âI see⦠Okay, thanks.â
Kisa felt a little more reassured after hearing what the woman said.
It seemed like she was just being too paranoid.
âDonât mention it.â The woman smiled amiably and went back to her house.
Kisa turned around and looked at Jolinaâs unit again. Then, she said to Gilbert, âCome on, letâs go back.â
Behind them, the woman suddenly stuck her head out of her window as soon as they left.
There was a glint in her eyes.
Kisa and Gilbert went back to the Kooper residence.
Madalyn was already waiting at the door, looking restless.
As soon as she saw their car coming in, she immediately went up to them.
âWhy did you come home so late today? I called you so many times and neither of you picked up!â
Madalyn went right to Kisaâs face and asked her blatantly as soon as she got out of the car.
Kisa was shocked. Then, she looked down to check her phone, only then realizing that it had been shut down.
However, she could not figure out why Madalyn was so worried just because she came home a little later with Gilbert.
Madalyn looked distressed and agitated.
As she was still thinking to herself, Madalyn suddenly grabbed her arm and looked at her from head to toe.
âNothing happened to you, right? Are you okay?â
