Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 1211 I Believe You Should Address Her as Mrs. Kooper Kisa involuntarily shuddered a little.
Her feet were a little cold, so she could evidently feel his palmâs warmth now that they were in Gilbertâs hands.
She gripped the hem of her skirt tightly. Then, she lowered her gaze and looked at the man in front of her.
Kisa watched as the man carefully helped her put on the espadrilles. Once he was done with one foot, he lifted her other foot and helped her put on an espadrille.
The espadrilles were comfortable and felt soft on the step.
After the man helped her put on her shoes, he smoothed out the hem of her skirt.
The skirt was really long, puffy, and floor-length. So, one could not tell that Kisa was wearing espadrilles.
Even though the espadrilles were flats, the soles were at least an inch thick.
Kisa took a few steps, and the shoes did not show easily.
Gilbert said to her, âYouâre not short, so thereâs no need to wear high heels. Youâll feel tired when attending banquets like this. Wearing espadrilles will make you feel much more comfortable.â
Felicity was stunned at the sight of this.
âEarlier on, I thought he was not right in the head for giving Kisa a pair of shoes that did not match her outfit at all. But now, I think heâs really thoughtful,â she thought.
Felicity promptly turned to Davian, âLook at how thoughtful and considerate Mr. Kooper is, and then look at yourself. You worked this many years for him for nothing. You didnât learn any of his good traits.â
âThere she goes again!â thought Davian thought.
Davian lowered his head and felt speechless.
âIf I were like Mr. Kooper and had given her a pair of espadrilles, she wouldâve scolded me for being not right in the head. Thatâs how unreasonable this woman is,â he thought again.
When Kisa felt the softness of the espadrilles, she felt a warm feeling coursing through her heart.
She looked at the man in front of her and said sincerely, âThank you.â
Gilbert did not answer and returned to the couch. Then, he picked up the magazine and continued reading.
Kisa pursed her lips.
âWhile this man can be very thoughtful at times, his thoughtfulness comes with a little awkwardness.
Sometimes, it makes me wonder if itâs because he doesnât know how to express himself. He had the intention and did something considerate, yet he just doesnât say things thatâll make people happy,â she thought.
Felicity hired a few stylists and makeup artists to come over.
By seven oâclock, they had all gotten ready.
It was nightfall. The Mullen residence looked grandeur and brightly lit.
Their massive courtyard was luxuriously decorated, lively, and bustling with people.
Several rows of expensive cars were parked outside the courtyard.
Gilbert and the rest came together in a car with Davian as their driver.
When they arrived at the Mullen residence, they looked at the courtyard from outside. They saw that a number of people were already there.
And, a security guard was guarding the door.
Gilbert walked up and handed his invitation.
The security guard glanced at it and respectfully said, âPlease enter, Mr. Kooper.â
Since Kisa and Felicity came with him, they did not even have to show their invitation.
Just as they walked into the courtyard, a gray-haired elderly man with a healthy complexion came walking pver with a cane.
Kisa had met this elderly man once. He was Mr. Mullen Sr., the star of tonightâs banquet.
âOh my, youâre here, Mr. Kooper. Didnât you say you were busy?â
Kisa recalled that the Mullen family and Gilbert did not quite see eye to eye. However, they seemed friendly on the surface.
Gilbert smiled at him politely. âItâs your birthday banquet. Of course, Iâd come. I burned the midnight oil for two consecutive nights and finally finished the work in hand. Only then did I have the time to come over.â
âHa-ha! Iâm honored,â Mr. Mullen Sr. said as his gaze shifted to Kisa.
Kisa could not find the words to describe the look in Mr. Mullen Sr.âs eyes, but it made her feel uncomfortable.
âOh my. Superstar Kisa is here too.â
âI believe you should address her as Mrs. Kooper.â
