Chapter 1412
Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 1412 Youâve Got Half an Hour He roared, tossing Kisa to the side with a flick of his hand, sending a few strands of hair fluttering in the air.
âOw!â
Kisaâs scalp throbbed as she fought off the dizziness. She mentally cursed the man a million times over.
âWhat kind of guy hits a girl? And pulls her hair? Unbelievable!â
Despite the rage boiling inside her, she plastered on a fake smile. After all, she had to keep this brute calm until she could clear things up. She did not want to feel his wrath anymore.
The more Kisa grinned, the more the man scowled. He narrowed his eyes and balled up his fist, as if he could crush her like a bug. When her happy act did not work, she switched to a pitiful one, batting her eyes and pouting. They say tears are a girlâs best weapon, so she forced a few droplets out of her eyes and looked up at him with all the innocence she could muster.
âThose words you overheard were just a misunderstanding,â she whimpered. âI was lying to Adrien.
Youâve got to believe me. I said I hated you and wanted revenge, but that was before you saved my life so many times. All that hate just melted away. Now all I want is to be with you. Please, donât be mad anymore.â
She wasnât lying this time, so her face looked as sincere as ever.
But Gilbert was too angry to believe her. He sneered and shook his head, eyes glittering with contempt.
âYouâre quite the actress, arenât you?â he said, voice dripping with sarcasm. âI canât trust a word you say, not after all the lies youâve told. Donât even think about revenge. If you know whatâs good for you, youâll stay put and behave. Otherwise, you will regret it. Trust me.â
The man finished speaking and walked out, leaving behind an icy chill that hung in the air. As his figure disappeared through the doorway, Kisaâs face was overcome with a look of sadness and despair.
She lowered her gaze and thought to herself, âThis canât go on much longer. If I donât unravel Adrienâs true intentions soon, Iâll be tortured to death by Gilbert.â
Kisa knew she had to play along with Adrienâs plan and âcompleteâ his ultimate goal in order to discover the root of Adrienâs grudge against them. She stared out the window, feeling restless and anxious.
Half a month later, Kisaâs leg had finally healed enough for her to walk with a crutch. Kelvinâs injury had also fully recovered, allowing him to move freely without assistance. Even Vivianâs leg had made great progress, no longer requiring Kelvinâs ongoing treatment. Her family doctor followed Kelvinâs treatment plan to successfully rehabilitate Vivianâs leg.
According to Kelvin, the family feud over the Mullenâs estate had finally died down, with Albert in full control. As for Anthony, no one knew where he had gone. Albert had sent people to look for him, but he had disappeared without a trace.
On this day, Gilbert finished his work and was ready to head back to Calthon. Before going home, Kisa insisted on visiting Leaâs grave at the cemetery. At first, Gilbert was hesitant and did not want to go, but Kisa used all her wiles and begged him relentlessly until he finally agreed.
It was a gloomy day, with a chill in the air. Gilbert parked the car at the base of the cemetery hill. He did not even look at Kisa, only saying in a cold tone, âYouâve got half an hour.â
