Chapter 1427
Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 1427 I Wonât Leave âHmm.â Gilbert suddenly responded in a flat tone.
Madalyn frowned. âWhat do you mean by âhmm? Have you really come to terms with the truth and let go of that woman?â
âHmm.â Gilbert repeated the same sound.
Madalyn was pleased. âThatâs good, thatâs good. So, you brought her back to the Kooper residence for the sake of her child, right?â
âHmm.â
âWell, of course. How can the descendants of the Kooper family be left wandering outside? We should let her have the child first and then send her away.â
âHmm.â Gilbert seemed to only have this word in his vocabulary.
Madalyn was happy and did not mind. She stood up with her cane and walked unsteadily to Gilbertâs side, patting his shoulder in relief. âIâm so glad youâve come around. After the child is born, just use money to send her away. Weâll have done our utmost for her, considering sheâs an unforgivable sinner.â
âHmm.â
Outside the door, Kisa listened quietly to the conversation.
âIt turns out that Gilbert really has kept me by his side this time just for the sake of my unborn child.
Although she felt a little sad, she thought that once the matter with Adrien was resolved and all misunderstandings were cleared up, hope and warmth would fill her heart.
âIt will be okay, everything will be fine,â she thought, taking a deep breath, composed herself, and knocked on the door while holding the chicken soup.
Madalyn thought it was George and called out, âCome in.â
As the door opened, Madalynâs face immediately darkened when she saw Kisa entering.
âIs it you?â Madalyn frowned, showing disgust in her eyes. âHow long have you been standing outside the door?â
Kisa walked over with the chicken soup, placed it on the desk, and ignored Madalyn. Instead, she stared into Gilbertâs eyes.
Iâve been standing for quite a while,â her voice was calm and unemotional.
Gilbertâs deep black eyes stared intensely at her, with a coldness floating on the surface.
Suddenly, Madalyn slammed the table You have some nerve eavesdropping like that!â she exclaimed, then turned to Gilbert. âYou see, Gilbert, I warned you about this woman Sheâs full of deceit and malice. She probably thought we were discussing company secrets and was eavesdropping outside the door. A woman like her shouldnât be kept around, but at least you have come to your senses.â
Madalyn then turned to Kisa. âYou heard everything, so save us the trouble of repeating it. Once the child is born, you should be smart enough to leave on your own.â
âIâm not going to leave,â Kisa said firmly.
âWhat?â Madalyn cursed in anger. âI knew a conniving woman like you wouldnât be easy to deal with.
Let me tell you, when the time comes, whether you want to leave or not, the Kooper family wonât tolerate you.â
âI said Iâm not leaving Gilbert, not that Iâm going to cling to the Kooper family forever,â Kisa replied, pushing the chicken soup she had cooked specially for Gilbert toward him and smiling at him.â This is the chicken soup I made just for you. It is chilly tonight, so drink up and warm yourself.â
Madalyn was so angry she wanted to spill the soup, but Gilbert stopped her. âGrandma, itâs late. You should rest in your room.â
âGilbert, this woman-â
âI know what Iâm doing,â Gilbert interrupted, taking Madalynâs hand and comforting her in a low voice.
âAll I want is the child, so you donât have to worry too much.â This statement sounded like he was saying it for Kisaâs benefit.
Kisa remained silent.
Satisfied, Madalyn nodded and left the room.
The room suddenly fell silent, and Kisa seemed a bit uneasy.
