Chapter 1462
Reborn Through Fire
Gilbert stared at her, his face dark and brooding. âLooks like you never listened to a word I said, or maybe what I say just never mattered to you,â he said with a scowl.
Kisa blinked innocently, as Madalyn looked on with a smug smirk.
As Gilbert finished his breakfast, he wiped his mouth and spoke slowly, âSince you donât want to go to Oceanville-â
âOh, I remember now! Youâre taking me to Oceanville today!â Kisa suddenly exclaimed, realizing her mistake. She quickly turned and rushed upstairs to pack her things.
Madalynâs face turned red with anger. âSlow down, if you hurt my precious great-grandchild, Iâll make sure you regret it,â she snarled at Kisa, who ignored her and hurried up the stairs.
Turning to Gilbert, Madalyn sneered. âI donât know what you were thinking, bringing that deadweight with you on your business trip.â
âGrandma, have you heard any news about Uncle David?â Gilbert asked, looking in the direction of the stairs.
Madalyn was taken aback. âWhy are you asking about him all of a sudden?â
âNothing, I just want to see him,â Gilbert replied calmly.
Madalyn shook her head, sighing. âI want to see him too, but besides that letter he sent us, we havenât heard anything from him. Heâs probably still mad at me and hiding somewhere.â
Gilbert pondered for a moment before asking, âDo you think he knows about Jensenâs accident?â
âJensenâs accident was in the news, so he probably knows. But even if he does, what difference does it make? He is still in hiding, and Jensen was never really his son, just a shameful reminder of his past. If it werenât for Jensen, he and that sl*tâ¦â Madalyn stopped herself mid-sentence, realizing she had said too much.
Clearing her throat, she continued, âGilbert, take care of yourself in Oceanville, and watch that deadweight too. If she wasnât carrying the flesh and blood of the Kooper family, I would have kicked her out long ago.â
Gilbert gently tapped her arm. âGrandma, take care of yourself. And, while Iâm away, no matter what happens, donât panic.â
Madalynâs face changed. âWhat do you mean? Gilbert, tell me honestly, did something happen?â
Gilbert chuckled. âNo, just reminding you to take care of your health.â
Madalyn eyed him suspiciously. âAre you sure nothing happened?â
âNothing at all, everythingâs fine.â
Davian drove them to the airport, and Kelvin tagged along. At the airport entrance, Kelvin stood with his hands on his hips and exclaimed, âIf Gracie wasnât pregnant, I wouldâve loved to come with you guys to Oceanville. The scenery there is amazing.â
Kisaâs eyes lit up. âGracieâs pregnant?â
âYep.â Kelvin grinned and glanced at her belly. âI hope she has a baby girl. If you have a baby boy, letâs arrange for them to get married in the future.â
Kisa nodded happily. âSure! Take good care of Gracie during this time. The first few months of pregnancy can be tough.â
âYouâre telling me,â Kelvin pouted. âIâve been taking care of her like a saint. She doesnât eat regular meals, always wakes me up in the middle of the night to get some weird food. Itâs torture, especially in the middle of winter. Kelvin complained, but his face could not hide his happiness.
Kisa felt sentimental, thinking, Things are great right now. When our kids are born, we can all hang out together and raise the babies.â
âKisa, Gracie has been having a tough time lately. Sheâs been throwing up a lot and lost a lot of weight.
When you were pregnant for the first time, you lived alone in that mansion without anyone to take care of you. How did you manage?â
He finished speaking and felt a sharp gaze directed at him.
