Chapter 1501
Reborn Through Fire
Gilbert was driving at breakneck speed. Kisa tried to soothe him. âDonât worry. David may hate your grandmother, but he wouldnât dare do anything to her. And he still has some feelings for her, right?â
After a long silence, he spoke up. âI never knew that David was kicked out of Calthon like that.â
Kisa was at a loss for words.
After a brief moment of silence, Gilbert asked again, âIs this all a part of Davidâs plan? Does he want to get back at everyone he hates?â
She stared out the window, deep in thought. She had a nagging feeling that things were far from simple. David had mentioned a fatal blow to Gilbert, but she could not figure out what it could be.
âIs it Madalyn? If David wants to hurt Gilbert, heâll go for what is most important to him. If this fatal blow means Madalyn, sheâs in serious trouble.â
But judging by Davidâs heart-wrenching laughter, she felt that he did not really want Madalynâs life. He wanted justice.
Just then, the phone rang. It was George. His panicked voice came through the phone, âSomethingâs wrong, Mr. Kooper. A group of people came to the house and said that GK has gone bankrupt, and they have mortgaged the house. Is it true, Mr. Kooper?â
Gilbertâs grip on the steering wheel tightened, his heart pounding in his chest. âWhere is Grandma?â
âOh no, oh no!â a servant cried out. âMrs. Kooper Sr is missing!â
âWhat? How could Mrs. Kooper Sr. possibly be missing? Find her now. Search every nook and cranny!â
There were noises on the other end of the phone. Gilbert gripped the phone tightly, his heart pounding with anxiety. Kisa reached out to comfort him, but he pushed her away.
âDonât touch me!â
He did not look at her, his voice filled with a raw, seething anger.
The car raced toward the Kooper family mansion. As they approached, they found the gate guarded by several strange men, blocking their way. Gilbert and Kisa were forced to exit the car and walk through the yard, where they found a large group of people gathered, mostly the Kooper familyâs servants.
Even Davian was among them. But before they could take another step, a man stepped out in front of them. Kisa recognized him immediately: it was Shaun, Jensenâs former secretary.
âThis mansion belongs to Mr. Tanner now,â Shaun sneered.
âWhat are you talking about?â Kisa demanded, her forehead furrowing in confusion.
Shaun scoffed. âDonât play dumb. You and Adrien plotted together to take down Gilbert. Those confidential files you stole from GK ruined the company, and now he has lost everything. You really are quite clever, I have to admit.â
âI didnât steal any files,â Kisa retorted, her eyes blazing. âAdrien and I were pretending to work together.
I never gave him those files.â
Shaun chuckled. âYou are still pretending? Gilbert has nothing left now.
Your revenge plan worked. What is the point of pretending anymore? Are you addicted to playing this role? I tell you what-all of GKâs shares are now in Mr. Tannerâs hands. GK belongs to him.â
âThatâs impossible!â Kisa bellowed.
Shaun laughed, mocking her as if she were a fool.
Gilbert barely even looked at her as he strode over to George. âWhereâs Grandma?â he demanded.
Georgeâs eyes filled with tears as he spoke. âWe still havenât found her. Just before those men barged in, she said she wanted some dessert. I sent a servant to get it for her, and then they came. We fought them off as best we could, but when I called you, we realized your grandma was gone.â âW-What are you doing?â
